ALEXIS CLERK'S POV

"Wake up,"Someone was whispering,"Wake up ,Alexis...now!"

My eyes opened slowly and bright light flooded into my eyes,I shut my eyes quickly and opened it slowly again.

A surgical mask was placed over my nose as I drew in a breath,I looked around without lifting my head and realized I was in a hospital.

I heard the continuous beeping from a beeping machine beside me and wondered what I was doing here, wondering what had happened.

All I could remember was Sabastian and Derek about to have a fight and me walking to the door,but now I'm in a hospital.

I listened against the ticking of the clock and I let it suppress the annoying beeping I was hearing.

I turned my head ,lowering to look beside me. Someone was seated on one of the chairs in the hospital room with his head resting on the bed beside me.

It was Derek,I recognised the dark shade of hair as I slowly lifted my hair and ran it over his hair.

"Derek"I called ,my voice almost like a whisper.

I felt a pang of pain in my chest as I did and I drew in a shaky breath .

His head shot up immediately and his tired eyes brightened up as he saw me.

"Alexis,"He called .

He quickly got up from the chair and reached out to hold my hand.

"Thank God you're awake"He said.

I carefully pulled the surgical mask down my face and drew in the fresh air.

"What happened? Why am I in a hospital?"I asked.

I made to sit up but he held me back gently,I grimaced as I felt the pain in my chest again.

"Lie down,you aren't fit to sit up,"He said quickly.

"What happened?"I asked again

"You collapsed ,Alexis. You were sick"He told me.

I blinked,I hadn't been sick,I was perfectly fine but just a little tired.I glanced at the clock hanging on the wall ,it was eight in the night now.

"I wasn't sick,"I whispered.

"It's alright,Alexis, just rest"Derek said.

I looked around the room again,it had been a while since I had been admitted into a hospital and I had never thought of coming into one.

I was still confused about the whole thing.I was supposed to be back at home taking a nap but here I was lying in the hospital.

"Where's Sabastian?"I asked after some time.

Just then the door burst open and Audrey came running in with Sabastian behind her.

She ran as fast as she could to the bed,I could see her tear stained face as she rushed beside me.

"Alexis,are you okay?"She asked,"Sabastian called me telling me you had collapsed"

I smiled weakly at Audrey as a tear slipped down her eye,I felt sorry to have made her worry so much about me.

"I'm fine,Aud,"I whispered.

My eyes slipped to Sabastian who was standing by the door, looking at me.

He walked slowly to the bed where I lay and Audrey moved aside so he could sit beside me.

"What happened?"I asked him.

"You collapsed,"He said then reached out to smoothen my hair

"But I wasn't sick,"I told him.

I could see the sadness and worry in his face as he stared down at me.

I had a feeling there was something more than me collapsing,the look on his face showed it.

"You'd be fine,"Was all he said.

"I should go get you something to eat"Audrey said,wiping her hand in the back of her hand,"I'd be back"

We all watched her scurry away and I turned to look at Derek who stood not moving like a statue.

"Thanks for deciding to stay back,"I told him.

He smiled thinly,"It's fine,I'm glad you're fine and that's all that matters"

"What had the doctor said happened to me?"I turned to ask Sabastian,"Why had I suddenly collapsed?"

I saw an expression that I couldn't place across Sabastian's features,his mind looked uneasy as I asked.

I knew something was wrong but what could it be?

Derek cleared his throat,forcing my attention back to him.

"I have to get going now, Sabastian said he'd remain with you,"He said,"I would come see you in the morning"

I smiled at him as he reached out and gave my hand a gentle squeeze.

"Thanks for staying with me,Derek,"I told him.

He smiled,"My pleasure "

I watched him walk slowly to the door and soon he was out without turning.

I turned back to Sabastian as he sat down beside me and took me hand in his.

"What is it?"I asked him.

He took a deep breath and looked into my eyes.I wanted for him to say something but he didn't. Instead he drove me into a world of curiosity.

"Sabastian"I called.

He took a deep breath again,"The doctor found a poisonous substance in your system"

I looked confusedly at him,"What?"

He nodded,"You blood was poisoned,it was probably injected into you"

"H-how can that be?"I whispered,"How bad was it...am I going to die?

He shook his head and licked his lips,he looked at me deeply,I could see worry in his eyes.

"You aren't,Alexis"He said slowly,"But you had been pregnant...and you lost it"

His words drummed into my ears with so much force that made me blank for some minutes.

"Pr-pregnant?"I whispered.

He looked at me,and squeezed my hand gently.I hoped silently that he was kidding or perhaps I hadn't heard him right.

"Yes,Alexis.You had been two months gone,"He said.

I blinked and my mouth fell open in disbelief and in total shock.How could I be pregnant?It wasn't possible,no it wasn't.

I shook my head as a tear slipped down my face,I had gotten pregnant from the night I had spent with him.

Sabastian pulled me into his chest, running his hands over my hair.

"It's fine,Alexis. You'd be fine,I promise"He whispered.

I buried my face into his chest and cried,cried until my chest hurt again,badly.
