Sample chapter 1

"Dad, please rest," Anita said in a high-pitched voice, sounding angry. "You've just been released from the hospital and you're going back to work already!" As she poured coffee for her dad, she dropped a plate of bread on the dining table. "But I have to feed you and take care of you," Mr. Thomas said in a sharp voice, smiling at his daughter. "Yes, but it's still early, so you'd better call your boss and let him know," Anita said, sitting next to her father at the dining table. "Don't worry, my love," he said in a soothing voice, putting his hand on her shoulder. "I'm okay," he added. Anita sighed and looked at her father with sad eyes. "Okay, if you say so. But..." Mr. Thomas quickly interrupted her, "That's enough, eat your daughter."

Her breakfast was short and early. Mr. Thomas said his goodbyes while Anita got ready to head to work. >>>

"Hurry, Anita," John's voice echoed through the walls of his office. He frowned as he was about to destroy a white paper with important information on it. "We need to act quickly before they get here," he said, focusing on the machine that was destroying the documents. "But sir, it'll take at least 20 minutes to destroy all the evidence," Anita said, typing away on the keyboard. "And if you want to cover all your tracks, you'll need to transfer the money to a paper account," she added, eyes on the computer screen as she tried to delete all the folders on the system. The FBI had been pressing down on John for months, and someone must have tipped him off about Marvin's money laundering activities. "Sir, we've got a problem!" Anita's voice rang sharply in John's ears. He turned suddenly, his eyes going a little white and his heart pounding. "What's wrong?" he asked, walking towards Anita. John stood behind her, gazing over her shoulder at the screen, eyes wide and eyebrows raised in confusion. "What do we do now?" he asked quietly. Anita didn't take her eyes off the screen and finally said, "We have to make someone the perpetrator." Her voice was still full of confidence, and she wasn't sure if what she said had convinced her boss. John placed his left arm on the table and his right arm on the chair where Anita was sitting. "So, who would you recommend?"

Suddenly, the door to John's office slammed open, momentarily interrupting their discussion. Anita looked at John, then back at the man standing in front of her. John gave her a look that said, "No way." Anita shrugged and nodded in agreement. "Sir..." Mr. Thomas came into the office trying to catch his breath. "There you are, sir." John walked up to Mr. Thomas and placed his right arm on his shoulder. "Mr. Thomas, you have been a faithful servant of this company and we are truly grateful for your contribution to its growth," John said gently to Mr. Thomas, but his voice betrayed his innocent face. "That is my duty, sir," Mr. Thomas said, giving John a sarcastic smile. John turned his head, motioning Anita to continue with the plan. The FBI was now in the building and on their way to John's office. "Search every nook and cranny of the office," the supervisor said.

John and Mr. Thomas stood side by side, watching the officers confiscate everything they could get their hands on. "Here, sir," one of the officers called out, standing next to the computer where Anita was sitting. The supervisor walked quickly over to him to see what it was. What the heck? The supervisor in charge walked straight up to John and frowned with a serious expression, "So who is Mr. Thomas Walker?" Mr. Thomas's face immediately turned confused. What was going on? Why would a police officer want to know someone with that name? John quickly pointed to Mr. Thomas. "Is he here?" "Sir, you are under arrest," the supervisor in charge said sternly, and tried to handcuff Mr. Thomas. Mr. Thomas was speechless and confused, unable to find the right words to say, "What?" Finally he found his voice and spoke. The supervisor looked at him with a serious expression, "It's about money laundering." Mr. Thomas was suddenly speechless and confused: "I, Mo... It's money laundering, sir..." Mr. Thomas turned to his supervisor. "I don't know," John shrugged, giving Mr. Thomas a look. "Let's go!" The officer grabbed Mr. Thomas' arm and dragged him out of the office. Mr. Thomas tried to resist, but was forcefully dragged out of the office. >>>

Fountain Chambers is one of the most frequented places by various people with helpless cases. Damien is an experienced lawyer who has helped top politicians and entrepreneurs win their cases. His track record speaks for itself.

In Damien's office, he asked the couple in front of him, "Mr. and Mrs. Walter, do you still want to sign the divorce papers?" He took his hands and placed them on the table. "Yes, Damien, I'm sick of them..." Walter addressed Farley. Mrs. Walter quickly cut him off. How dare you do that? "

Damien shook his head in disbelief. "It's okay, you don't have to do that." He tried to calm the tension in the room. Damien leaned back in his seat and said, "Okay, what I would suggest is that maybe you two should go to a marriage counselor first to see if this will work, hmm."

"I'm not going anywhere with that old woman," Mr. Walter said, looking at his wife with a disgusted look on his face. "How dare you call me that!" Mrs. Walter stood up and pulled her husband's hair. "Hey! Hey, not here! Damien quickly stood up from his seat and tried to separate them across the table. >>>

Willa was busy serving coffee and taking orders at the restaurant where she worked part-time. "What would you like to order, sir?" Willa asked the customer sitting at the table. “Yes, just one coffee will do,” the customer replied, staring at his phone. “Okay,” Willa replied, and walked away to take the order. A few minutes later, Willa returned with the coffee. A few steps away from the customer’s table, her phone rang. “Willa!” cried the manager, pointing to a sticker on the wall next to the counter that read: “Employees are prohibited from using phones during working hours.”

“Sorry!” she said softly, looking at her boss with a pitying expression. Her voice was barely audible. She answered the phone, but what she heard next broke her heart. "Mr. Thomas, I need you to come to the FBI office immediately. Your father has been arrested for money laundering," the voice on the other end said. The coffee cup fell heavily from Willa's hand onto the tile floor, spilling its contents onto the waiting customers. Tears filled her eyes. She was lost and confused. And in a flash she went to the counter to take off her apron. "So, Willa, what do you think you're doing?" her manager asked in an angry voice. Willa didn't answer him and walked away. "If you walk out the door you're fired," he yelled, his voice echoing around the room but falling on deaf ears. "You're fired, Willa!" he yelled again as loud as he could. Willa left the restaurant and hailed a cab. "Where can I go?" she asked the driver. Willa wiped the tears from her eyes and said, "FBI office." The driver turned around to look at her with a confused look, then turned around and drove off.
