Chapter 152 - My Rejected Wife Is A Billionaire

Cecilia and Lucas went to the hospital.

Standing in the brightly lit treatment room, Cecilia silently observed a doctor dabbing Lucas' wounds with iodine-soaked cotton swabs.

A few minutes later, they walked out together.

Turning to Lucas, whose face was a patchwork of band-aids, Cecilia couldn't help but ask, "What was that fight about?"

Sheepishly avoiding eye contact, Lucas smiled awkwardly, "Just a minor personal issue."

His brevity only made Cecilia more suspicious, but seeing his reluctance to share, she decided not to press further.

They weren't exactly close enough to probe into each other's personal affairs just yet.

"Need a ride back?" Cecilia asked as they approached her car.

Lucas nodded but claimed the driver's seat. "I'll drive."

Cecilia then settled into the passenger seat, and felt a wave of exhaustion wash over her.

Suddenly, Lucas leaned towards her.

Cecilia tensed up and saw him reaching over her, locking her on her seat with his arms.

They were so close that she could even feel his breath.

She shrank back nervously and was about to protest when she heard a soft click.

"Buckle up," he said, his voice gentle and soothing.

Realizing her misunderstanding, Cecilia felt relieved. "Okay."

Lucas didn't move away but continued to hold her gaze. "What did you think I was going to do?"

"Nothing." Cecilia flipped her hair. What Lucas did today was somehow weird and unusual.

As the car pulled away, on the opposite side of the street, two figures approached against the evening breeze.

The leader's long coat flared behind him, revealing his athletic build.

Justin halted abruptly, causing Bob to nearly bump into him.

Fortunately, he stopped abruptly in time.

Spotting Justin's gaze fixed on the parking spot, Bob curiously followed his sight, only to find an empty parking spot.

Justin pressed his lips tightly, his hands clenched in silence.

Despite the brief glimpse, he had witnessed Lucas and Cecilia's close moment.

He was only inches away from her, but she didn't push him away. Did she really like him that much?

Unaware of what Justin had seen or thought, Bob could only sense the growing chill in the air and Justin's increasingly stern expression.

Bob stood quietly behind, not daring to make a sound.

After a short nap, Cecilia woke to find the car parked outside her neighborhood.

She thanked Lucas before getting off the car.

But then, Lucas' voice followed. "Cecilia, I like you. Would you consider dating me?"

The question caught her completely off guard. She instinctively turned to look at Lucas.

He had exited the car and leaned against it, his gaze locked on hers, filled with warmth and sincerity.

Cecilia had sensed Lucas' feelings towards her, but his outright confession was unexpected.

Her and Lucas?

It seemed so improbable.

"No need to rush your answer," Lucas interrupted, seeing her hesitate.

He gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze before heading back to the car.

Justin returned to the Quinn Mansion.

Brie was engrossed in a drama. As he entered, she instantly stood up. "Justin, you're finally back."

She offered a smile, apparently in a good mood.

"Several socialites have forwarded their profiles through intermediaries for your consideration. Have a look." Brie handed him a folder, thick with profiles.

"I've checked them myself. They're all graduates from prestigious universities, all stunning and accomplished, seemingly perfect matches for you."

Each candidate, on paper, seemed to surpass Erin and Cecilia in every aspect.

Justin spared the folder only a fleeting glance without taking it over. He then rubbed his temples and said, "I'm not considering remarriage at the moment."

"That's alright; it doesn't hurt to meet and date them." Brie wasn't discouraged, enthusiastically pointing to a specific profile. "I recommend this one. Her family is a pillar of Chicago, well-entrenched in both business and politics. Perfect for your ambitions in Chicago, don't you think?"

Justin's brow furrowed deeper at Brie's enthusiasm. "You're not picking a marriage partner; you're selecting a business ally."

"A marriage partner is indeed a business ally. That's how it's always been," Brie argued, missing Justin's discontent. "If you don't choose her, someone else might. It's how your grandfather and father succeeded."

"They made their choices, but I am my own person." With that, Justin left and went upstairs.

Brie watched him leave, sighing in frustration and dismay.
