Chapter 100 - My Rebellious Luna

ALPHA LUKE POV

Even with all the improvements made and the number of warriors we are leaving behind, I still feel conflicted about leaving her. I doubt that if I had been successful in sending her to Blue Moon I would have somehow felt satisfied. The only time I won’t worry is when she’s with me. I need to accept that I can’t put her in my pocket.

The van is loaded with supplies, drones and the care packages Celia made. Rob gives us a wave before heading out ahead of us. Dark Shadows is less than forty minutes away through the woods in wolf form, but it will take longer for Rob to get there since he has to take the roads. It will take him about an hour and a half. Becky has been clinging to my arm since we got out of bed a few minutes ago.

We have about ten minutes before we have to leave. So I’m welcoming every last second I have near her. Jordan is doing his best to give some last-minute instructions to Roland while still holding Lilimar in his arms. She’s half asleep clutching onto him for dear life. “Make sure nothing happens to uncle Rob, he thinks he’s invincible. I don’t want him anywhere near the battle.” Becky warns.

Shaking my head, I scooped her up, pecking her lips once more. “I made sure he was as far as possible while still being able to send the drones into their territory. He’s only going to give us their positions.” I assured her. She let out a sigh of relief and held on to my cheeks with her little hands. “I love you. Be safe and come back to us.” She demanded and pulled me closer for a much deeper kiss.

Her hands slid to the back of my head and her fingers dug into my hair, holding me in place. We savored every second of this kiss. It would be my inspiration and motivation for ending this battle quickly. Pulling away, we both took a much needed breath. “Take care of yourself and our pup.” Kissing her forehead, I put her down on her feet. “I will.” She replied and hugged me.

Giving me one last squeeze, she pulled away and looked up at me. “I’ll be back, Pastelito.” She nodded and moved back a few steps. I shifted and Art ran up to her, nuzzling into her neck. “Te amo Lobito. (I love you wolfy.) She kissed the top of his head and we turned to see all of our warriors, including the ones from our allied packs already shifted. We gave Becky one last look before letting out a howl, signaling our departure.

The earth below our feet rumbled as three hundred wolves charged through the forest. In the pitch dark night, all that could be seen was our glowing eyes and the fire in them. We had spent more than enough time training for this moment. Some might say too long. I was confident that our new warriors weren’t just going to be bodies in this war. That’s what mattered. They were prepared to face their first battle and I intended for them to live to remember it.

MATT POV

I watched as Alpha Liam and Luna Rose moved some of their things into the packhouse per Becky’s request. She wanted them near, not only for support but because she knew Luke would want it that way. Alpha Liam made it clear that Becky would lead the pack, he would only provide support if needed. It was his way of showing her support after what happened between Becky and Luke.

Everyone was on high alert waiting as the time passed. It was almost one when Rob sent Becky a text letting her know that Luke was a mile away from their border. He had programed a drone to follow them in case something happened along the way. They were going to wait for him to arrive so that he could do a sweep with the drones.

Sergio and Manny were eagerly waiting for that to happen so they could pull up the feed in the entertainment room in the pack house. There was no way anyone was going to sleep tonight. Becky and Lilimar kept pacing around looking at the time.

My only thoughts at the moment were what was going on at our pack. Jerry and I were in constant communication, not only with each other but with the lookouts as well. We hadn’t had time to replace them with cameras, since the priority was to get everything done here. All of the warriors were resting but on high alert.

If Becky or I signaled them. They were split up into three teams, and they all knew what to do. Team one were assigned to assist pack members to the bunkers. Team two would take their positions by the border, stopping any intruders from getting too close to the pack. Team three was the last line of defense. They would position themselves along the tree line.

Becky perked up when her phone pinged. “Rob just got there. He should be sending the drones out shortly." She told Sergio and Manny, who nodded. Everyone’s eyes were now trained on the large screen above the fireplace. Waiting for the blank screen to show us the Dark Shadows territory. After a few minutes, the screen went dark and then the infrared vision turned on. Manny called Rob and put the phone on speaker so we could communicate.

In the distance there were groups of heat patches spaced out along the border. We concluded those were the rogues that were camping out. They weren’t moving, so we assumed they were sleeping. “I would say there are about fifteen in each huddle, and about ten groups. Approximately one hundred and fifty.” Rob said over the telephone speaker.

“I’m going to send two hundred warriors in groups of twenty to each spot. If we can get them while they sleep, it will make it faster. The other hundred will pass through and position themselves for the attack that will take place inside.” Luke spoke to Rob and Becky let out a shaky breath at her mate's voice. “While you do that, I will keep a drone watching them and send one inside.” Rob said.

After that, it became silent. A real war isn’t like the movies. I was sure that Luke was getting the groups ready and explaining what they had to do. We had gone over this several times after we saw the rogues camping out. They needed to attack at the same time, so the rogues wouldn’t have any warning. It would be even better if no one inside noticed.

The TV screen changed and now we could see a few lights that illuminated the front of their pack house. There was no one outside, which wasn’t strange for the late hour, but they didn’t even have patrol guards walking around. Maybe they didn’t feel they needed any with the rogues guarding the border.

What was odd was that the infrared wasn’t picking up anything inside any of the houses. Rob circled the pack, once more and narrowed in on the pack house. There was only one body there, sitting in a chair. He continues to go further into the pack in search of the wolves that should be there. Where is everyone?
