Chapter 83 The Sting Of His Betrayal.

Chapter 83 The Sting Of His Betrayal.

Chapter 83.

Bunny’s POV

The heavy tears that had been hanging on my eyelashes finally slid down my burning cheeks, and I staggered a full step backward. My mind was completely numb, yet my heart felt like it was being squeezed by a pair of rough, metal hands.

So everything was real? Every single thing Daniel had said on campus was the absolute truth? Xavier had placed a bet on me. He was only dating me, touching me, and whispering sweet things to me because of a sick game he played with his rivals.

“Why?” I asked softly, my voice cracking so badly it barely sounded like mine.

Xavier saw the way my knees shook, and he automatically took a step forward, his large hand stretching out toward me. “Bunny—”

The moment his fingers moved in my direction, a flash of pure panic and disgust shot through my veins. I instantly stretched my own hand forward, my palms facing him, and screamed, “Don’t! Don’t you fucking come any closer to me!”

Xavier froze in his tracks. His massive shoulders tensed, and his dark eyes swam with an emotion that looked suspiciously like fear. “I can explain, Bunny. Please, just listen to me for one second.”

But I could not let him speak. I didn’t want to hear a single word out of his lying mouth. If he opened his mouth now, it would just be more lies, more manipulation, and more deceit to keep me compliant. I kept staggering backward, my feet dragging heavily across the expensive floor of the living room.

Every single emotion I had been trying to suppress since leaving the school campus came crashing down on me at once. I felt so incredibly small. I felt dirty. I felt like a foolish, naive little girl who had walked right into a trap because she was too desperate for someone to love her. I had truly believed that my life was finally becoming perfect. I had thought that God finally looked down at my suffering and sent me a protector. But he wasn’t a protector. He was the monster at the very end of the tunnel.

“Look, Bum Bum… it’s really not what you think,” Xavier said, his voice dropping into a desperate, raspy plea as he took another cautious step toward me.

Hearing that sweet nickname roll off his tongue made a sudden wave of raw fury explode in my chest.

“Shut the fuck up! Shut up!” I yelled at the top of my lungs, my voice echoing loudly against the high walls of the massive house. I covered my ears with my hands, shaking my head violently from side to side. “Don’t you dare call me that name! Shut up!”

Xavier stopped, his lips pressing into a thin, tight line as he watched me unravel in front of him.

“I hate you!” I screamed directly into his face, the tears pouring down my cheeks like a broken dam. “I fucking hate you, Xavier Thorne! You are a liar! You are a wicked, evil human being! I hate you with everything inside of me!”

Xavier tried to speak again, his chest heaving as he reached out. “Bunny, the bet was in the past, I swear—”

“Leave!” I cut him off instantly, my voice dropping into a painful, ragged groan. I pointed my shaking finger directly toward the large double doors of the house. “Leave this house right now, Xavier! Leave, and don’t you ever show your pathetic face to me ever again! Just leave me alone!”

Xavier stood perfectly still in the center of the room. He didn’t move a single muscle. He just stood there, staring at me with so much intense pain and heartbreak in his dark eyes. But I didn’t see it as real pain. I didn’t care about the look on his face. To me, every single expression he made right now was nothing but pure, unadulterated deceit. He was an actor, and I was done being his audience.

I knew he had gotten this beautiful, luxurious house for me. I knew he had put it in my name and brought his own staff here to serve me. But right now, I didn’t care about the house. I didn’t care about the money or the security. I just wanted his toxic presence out of my sight before I completely suffocated from the pain.

“Leave,” I whispered one last time, my eyes dead as I stared at him.

Slowly, very slowly, Xavier’s shoulders slumped. He looked down at the floor, the heavy silence between us cutting deeper than any weapon. He knew there was nothing he could say to fix the video. Without another word, he turned around, his tall frame looking heavy and defeated, and he walked straight out of the front doors, closing them quietly behind him.

The moment the click of the lock echoed through the room, my legs completely gave out.

I slumped heavily onto the hard floor, my knees tucked into my chest as I began to cry helplessly. The pain in my chest was so physical, so violent, that I felt like my heart was literally shredding into tiny pieces inside my body. All sorts of fucking things were happening to me at once, and my brain could not handle the overload.

I could not breathe. I gasped for air, pulling at the collar of my cream cardigan, feeling like the walls of the house were closing in on me to bury me alive.

As I sat there sobbing on the floor, my mind automatically began to play back every single memory we had shared over the past few weeks. I thought about the time he had driven me all the way to that quiet library just to buy me the exact books I wanted for my classes. He had sat there with me, patient and calm. I thought about how he had eaten with me there, laughing at my jokes.

My mind flashed violently to his safe space… that quiet apartment where he had brought me when I had nowhere else to go. That was the place where he had gently taken my virginity, swearing to me that he would protect me, making me feel like I was the most precious thing on earth. And now, this house. He had bought me a whole building just to celebrate my little win.

Every single one of those beautiful memories didn’t bring me comfort. They just brought me pure, agonizing pain. Because now I knew the truth… every single gesture had been calculated. Every kiss, every touch, every expensive gift was just a checklist to win a bet and take my virginity.

I was still burying myself in this intense pain, my body shaking with violent hiccups, when my phone suddenly began to ring loudly inside my bag.

The sharp sound startled me. I wiped my face roughly with the back of my hand and crawled over to my bag, pulling the phone out. When I turned the screen to see the caller ID, the name staring back at me was my best friend, Clara.

Seeing her name made something inside me melt completely. I was so incredibly lonely, and I needed a familiar voice so badly. With shaking fingers, I hurriedly swiped the screen and picked up the call, placing the phone against my ear.

Before I could even say hello, Clara’s cheerful voice spoke through the line. “Hey, Bunny! I am standing right on your street. Come outside, let’s hang out.”

The exact moment those words met my ear, my entire body went completely still. My heart stopped ticking for a second.

If Clara said she was standing on my street, she meant the old street… the one where my aunt’s house was located. She had no idea about this new house, or about Xavier, or about anything that had been happening in my life for the past few days.

As I sat there on the floor of my luxurious, empty living room, I realized something. It was finally time to stop hiding. It was time to be completely real with my best friend about everything.
