Chapter 17 This is for family! Come on!
Saraphina
I never cared for dangerous sports, but I have to admit, watching Ryan surf was a beautiful thing. He had another competition today, so Clement, my mother, and I went to the beach to cheer for him. He was incredible out on the water, moving on to the finals, and everyone was so happy for him. Me included.
Wait. Did I just become one of his fans? Oh God, no.
When Ryan came out of the water and found us, the three of us waved and jumped up and down. He walked over and I ran to him, feeling excited and wanting to hug him.
"Congratulations..." I said, my arms open.
But he just moved aside, like he did not want me to touch him. So I changed my movement into an awkward high five.
What the hell was that?
"Ryan, you were wonderful out there!" my mother said, her face full of pride.
"Let us go celebrate, all four of us, like a family," Clement added, smiling widely. "How about we take the boat out and share a nice meal?"
Clement loved boats and yachts more than anything. I learned that he ran several businesses renting them out. His favorite was the Kona, a huge yacht that could hold thirty people.
"Uh, I am not sure, dad," Ryan said, moving back a little. "I told my friends I would see them after the match."
"Oh, come on, you can see your friends later. This is for family! Come on!" Clement clapped his hands, too excited to hear a no. Ryan did not look happy about it, but he had no choice. He followed his dad back to the car.
That afternoon, the four of us spent time together as a family on Clement's boat. It felt… nice. Clement talked with great passion about boats and sailing, and he even showed me how to steer. I had to admit, having a family felt kind of great. This was the closest I had ever come to a real family moment. It was also the first time I felt like I had a father.
I was honestly having a good time on the water, but I could still feel that something was wrong. Since this morning, Ryan had been staying away from me. Usually, he would not stop with his dirty jokes, but not today. He was very quiet, and when I tried to talk to him, he just walked off.
Who knows, maybe he is in a bad mood?
Since Ryan was being strange, I decided to join my mother and lie in the sun. It was a beautiful day. I was wearing a cute blue bikini my mother bought for me at the mall the other day. Oh, bless her heart.
"It is really nice weather today," Clement said in a casual voice, talking to Ryan, who was standing alone at the front of the boat, probably sulking about something.
"Yeah, it is," Ryan answered, his reply short. I noticed he and his dad did not talk much. They looked uncomfortable, discussing the weather.
"Tell you what, when we get back to land, you can invite some friends and have a little party on the boat tonight. To celebrate your win," Clement said.
"You are sure?" Ryan looked a little more interested.
"Yes, why not. We already filled the fuel tank. Just make sure you treat her well," Clement answered.
Ryan's face lit up fast. "Thanks, dad," he said, quickly pulling out his phone and starting to call people.
"Make sure you invite Saraphina, too," Clement said as he walked toward the back of the boat.
Ryan looked at me with a face that showed nothing. I gave him a small smile, but he did not smile back. He just looked down at his phone, acting like I was not even there.
Wow, that was fucking rude.
Ryan
After the dream I had about Saraphina last night, I knew I needed to keep my distance. I tried to get out of this family trip to avoid being near her, but my dad would not listen. It was getting harder and harder to be around her, and she was not making it any easier.
Walking around in that tiny blue bikini, fuck, woman, are you trying to destroy me?
Earlier, when I saw my dad, Loiusa, and Saraphina all talking and laughing together, I felt a strange pain in my stomach. I realized this is how it has to be now; we are a family. I could not ruin that just because my body wants her.
I was being an idiot and I needed something else to think about. So when my dad said I could invite friends for a party, I was so fucking happy. Hallelujah, this was exactly what I needed. A party full of beautiful girls, and maybe I could find one for the night. If I could just get laid, I would stop thinking about wanting my future stepsister. With that idea in mind, I called every attractive girl in my phone, and some guys to make it look better.
When we got back to the dock, dad and Loiusa left, and my friends showed up. I made sure they came early so I would not be alone with Saraphina. As soon as I saw them, I knew it would be a great night. In no time, the music was loud, drinks were being poured, girls in bikinis were dancing, and the party was alive.
I kept the guest list small and did not invite anyone stupid like Cameron and his friends. I knew Saraphina would be safe here, and I would have a very good time. Feeling pleased with myself, I sat back on the couch in the middle of the yacht, looking around for the girl I wanted.
And right on time, she walked in. A pretty blonde with short hair. It did not take long at all for her to understand the situation. Her eyes brightened the second she saw me, and I knew she was interested. Oh, that was just too easy.
