Chapter 167
*DEBBIE KENDALL POV*
I pressed Power and a red light started, I approached Ramon and I was undecided on which part to hurt him as if he was reading my thoughts James informed me.
“You just need to touch his skin, the effect of the pain will be the same on all other parts, intense and overwhelming.”
I approached him and saw the panic in his eyes, he tried to force his chains and break them to escape his punishment, but he realized that there was no way. I touched the tip of that object and heard its bones crack and contort monstrously and horrendously, Ramon screamed with all his strength, drawing the attention of everyone in that room, it seemed like they hadn't tested that device, with Kevin's words I noticed that.
“Yeah, it works.”
I pressed the button to pause the object's reaction, but Ramon's body continued to spasm and leave large parts of his bones visible through the skin. Patricia looked at him with a startling expression, but no words came out of her mouth, she continued watching. Ramon didn't have the strength to speak, what would he say? He had already done great damage with his mere presence, he was no longer alive.
“The bastard kicked the bucket,” Patricia spoke in disbelief.
“Don’t worry, you’ll soon go to hell with him.” I returned to the table and deposited the lethal object, taking only a sharp knife. “But first I have some questions.”
“I’ll try to answer them all, little girl.”
“You will respond whether you want to or not.” I placed a chair in front of him and sat down, standing for a long time with the size of my belly was ruining my legs.
"What do you want to know?"
“I want to understand, why have you always hated me since I was a child?”
“For God’s sake, Debbie!” Spare yourself your questions, and your doubts.
"Responds!" I ordered furiously. “Before you even let that bag of trash touch me, I realized how badly you treated me as if I weren’t your daughter.”
“Look at you, begging for answers to hate me, hunting for ridiculous logic to supply the maternal side you never had.” She smiled dismissively.
“I don’t miss the maternal side, it gives me enough strength and determination to be a better mother than you!” It just made me curious about not knowing certain things, which you said were best taken to the grave.
“That’s enough Debbie, let’s go.” Kevin and James spoke in unison, I turned back and looked at them confused, and I soon realized that something was wrong.
“So that means you already know...” Patricia smiled even more. “But of course, they are mobsters and they knew how to investigate.”
“Let’s go, Debbie!” James spoke louder, but I didn't listen to him.
“Do you want to know?” She asked, determined to tell me with the sole intention of breaking me further.
"Yes!"
“You’re not your father’s daughter.”
Those words left me as surprised as they were shocked, it was as if a wave of disappointment and pain had just torn apart my entire being in the most violent way it could.
“What are you telling me?”
“The truth, isn’t that what you wanted?”
“Who is my real father? Are you going to tell me it's one of your old lovers? You were no good, even in this day and age.”
“I'm not done yet, Debbie. Do you know why I didn't give you love like you wanted? Didn’t I even protect you like I needed to?”
“No, answer me now!”
“Because not only are you my daughter, Debbie, but you are also my sister.”
...
Remaining with a haughty look of superiority towards Patricia became difficult with her revelation, that information that came out of her disgusting mouth hit me most painfully and cruelly it could, no, that cannot be true. Her face shows anger with a mixture of disdain and mockery, but her eyes show remorse and pain. The silence in the room was absolute, you couldn't even hear my suspended breathing.
“James, get Debbie out of here!” Kevin broke the silence by giving orders to my baby's father, with tears in his eyes and fixed on Patricia , I also ordered:
“Stay where you are, James!”
Patricia lowered her head showing that she was uncomfortable with the presence of others in that environment, she looked at everyone with uneasiness, as if she was expecting judgment, but it didn't come, I looked back and with tears running down my cheeks I asked them to leave, On their faces I saw complete confusion, perhaps not knowing what she was going to reveal to me, it was a shock for all of us.
“We won’t leave you alone with her.” James denied my request.
“She’s not going to hurt me, she’s paralyzed from the waist down, weak. Leave me alone with her.” I asked one last time.
As soon as Kevin and James with their soldiers left the room, I saw Patricia with her head down, as if waiting for me to say something. Imagining that I was her daughter and sister gave me great terrible sensations, imagining how difficult it must have been, it doesn't change the fact about what she did to me, she is as monstrous as Ramon, but now, when she revealed to me this dark and dirty, I just see a broken piece without any repairs. I wiped my face and swallowed hard, controlling the ball that was forming in my throat.
“Spare yourself the details, Debbie, spare us that.” She asked tiredly.
“I need to know, I want to understand you.”
“You don’t need to understand me, just accept the facts, I’ve dealt with this my entire life, kept in my throat and my memory, now it’s up to you.”
“Now I understand how rude you were to me over the smallest things, your insistence on everything I did, you hit me for every mistake....”
“You don't know how difficult it is to see the consequence of your trauma calling you mommy every day, asking you to braid your hair, asking you to read princess stories before bed. For you, it was magical, incredible, wonderful, but for me, it was a joke, repulsive, a farce!”
“I was a child, I didn't know...”
Patricia looked at me with tears in her eyes sliding down her face, she sobbed as if remembering her past was tormenting, painful to go back there. She lifts her head and looks at the ceiling lamp, closes her eyes, and takes several deep breaths.
“Do you want to know?” She looked at me again.
"In detail."
“In detail…okay.”
Sitting on the chair I looked for enough comfort to stay there, I didn't imagine I would stay in that place for so long, especially listening to its supposed story.
“I grew up in Venezuela, my family was upper class, my mother was a prestigious doctor with several awards, and my father was a very well-known and influential business tycoon. My brothers and I were raised very well, we had everything we wanted, but not every family is that perfect. When I reached nine years old, my father started to see me with different eyes, he no longer saw me as his little girl who liked to be read stories before bed.”
