Sixteen

Tyler's POV:

I was left speechless and refused to admit the lies coming from the Alpha's. "This must be hate or envy," I said to myself as one of the council members was about to speak.

"Yes, she isn't an ordinary human being... in fact, she's a witch," said the council member.

I could hardly control my feelings when I heard this, and I laughed out loud. "How could this be possible? A witch who cannot defend herself from wolves, a witch who cannot provide shelter for herself," I joked in my mind, laughing at the absurdity of the council's claim.

I could imagine the look on Lucian's face when the council members mentioned the witch part. If I had to guess, he probably wanted to cut off the speaker's head.

One of the council members suspected me as I smiled, and I immediately tried to control my mood. "This is unbelievable, no one will believe these great lies. How could a witch be so powerless that she cannot protect herself?" I asked jokingly, facing the council member.

"Are you accusing me of lying? Can't you sense the truth for yourself? Or do you even recognize a witch?" the council member asked me angrily.

I stayed silent for a moment, wondering who would speak next before replying to his statement, as the topic of the day turned out to be Ruby's identity. I was quite surprised when I heard Lucian speaking against the council member who had just spoken.

"You should stay silent if you don't know what to say. How could you claim she's a witch if you yourself are not a Witcher or some kind of prophecy who can see hidden things?" Lucian replied to the council member angrily, not considering her status and age.

"Are you insulting me?" the council member spoke out angrily at Lucian, unable to control his anger at what had been said.

Lucian realized his mistake immediately and apologized. "I'm deeply sorry, Alpha. I didn't mean to insult you," Lucian said politely, begging for forgiveness from the council member he had insulted.

I could sense some truth in what Lucian had said, despite our fights. So I tried my best to prove that he was right. If someone could recognize a witch, that person should possess some supernatural power or be a witch themselves.

"Yes, Lucian is right. How can you claim Ruby is a witch?" I asked politely, turning to the council member.

"Enough of all this!" I heard a voice screaming from one corner of the meeting hall. I looked around to see who was speaking because the voice seemed strange.

"Enough of all this talk!" the voice spoke again loudly, raising his hand and seeking permission from the elder council members. The person was a young elder in the council, honored with joining because of his ability to see visions.

"Enough of the arguments, everyone. I apologize if you consider this as interference, but I must clarify matters," the young elder spoke as he raised his hand.

One of the elderly members of the council gave him the go-ahead, and he continued speaking. I stayed calm and silent, ready to listen to what he had to say.

"Yes, I have been patiently watching all the elders at this meeting argue about these small matters, but the truth is that Ruby isn't a mere human. She has ancestral blood linked to witches," the young council member nodded, turning the whole hall into an erupting argument once again.

I could sense some truth in what the young man had just said, so I watched the council members as they argued among themselves.

Ruby's POV:

I was just so surprised to find Lucian at the meeting hall. I had no idea he would be there, and I had been avoiding him as one of

my friends had informed me about his relentless search for me.

The most surprising thing was witnessing Tyler and Lucian opposing each other for reasons I was unaware of. "What could that be?" I asked myself in confusion, doubting what they might be thinking together.

"Could it be that Lucian is jealous? Or angry because he saw me with Tyler... but that can't be!" I thought, trying to predict the cause of their fight.

"Yes, I heard Lucian saying he searched for me everywhere. But why couldn't he just argue with me instead of confronting the innocent Tyler?" I continued to ponder, attempting to understand the situation between them.

After contemplating Lucian and Tyler's actions for a while, another thought entered my mind, causing me more concern. I imagined how Lucian had overreacted and embarrassed Tyler in front of the whole council.

As this thought consumed me, I became scared, believing that I might lose my job because of Lucian's actions. "Oh my, I've already lost my job again! Why would the elders ask me to wait outside for them? I'll never forgive Lucian for this," I whispered to myself, terrified of the potential consequences.

I was left outside for some time, panicking alone on the cloudy day. A few minutes later, I heard a voice calling me from behind. I turned around to see who it was, feeling a bit scared as I confirmed it was one of the guards.

"Please come inside. The elders have called for you," the guard said politely, directing me to enter the conference room. I composed myself as best as I could and stepped inside, ready to face whatever awaited me.
