Chapter 230 The Choice I Might Regret
Chapter 230 The Choice I Might Regret
MIA
I didn’t know if I was making the biggest mistake of my life or not.
But as I stood in front of Adrian’s mansion, staring at the tall gates and the guards stationed around the property, I knew one thing.
I couldn’t turn back. I didn’t want Adrian to clear Elara’s memory. Not after everything.
Not after knowing that she would wake up one day without remembering the people, the moments, and the life she had built.
My eyes moved around the mansion. Too many guards. Too much security.
Every entrance was watched, and every movement was controlled. Getting inside alone would be almost impossible.
And if Adrian decided to stand in my way, I needed backup.
I pulled out my phone, staring at the screen for a few seconds. There was only one name that came to my mind.
Alessandro.
My fingers hovered over his contact. Just seeing his name on my screen made me hesitate.
I didn’t want to call him. I didn’t want to involve him.
After everything that happened, the last thing I wanted was to ask him for anything.
But right now… Elara was in danger, and I couldn’t let my pride get in the way.
I looked back at the mansion. Somewhere inside those walls, Elara was waiting, and time was running out.
If talking to Adrian didn’t work, then I would use the other option.
Alessandro.
He would get inside this mansion and take Elara away if that was what it took.
I hated that I needed him. I hated that he was my only choice.
But I hated the thought of losing Elara’s memories even more.
I swallowed my pride and pressed the call button. The phone rang once, then twice.
My grip tightened around my phone as I waited. Then he answered.
“What do I owe this call?” His cold voice came through.
I closed my eyes for a second. Even hearing his voice reminded me why I didn’t want to do this.
“I need your help,” I said.
The silence that followed was heavy, and I could almost imagine the surprise on his face.
“What does the mighty Mia need my help for?” he asked.
I ignored the sarcasm.
“Elara will be sent out of the city tomorrow, and her memory will be wiped,” I said, forcing the words out. “I don’t want my friend to lose her memories, so I need your help.”
For a moment, there was nothing but silence. The teasing disappeared from his voice.
“Where are you?”
I looked back at the mansion in front of me the tall gates, the guards standing outside, the place where Elara’s future was being decided without her knowing.
“In front of Adrian’s mansion.”
My fingers tightened around my phone.
“The moment I call you, you should know that I failed my mission. Then you come in with your men and take her.”
The words left a bitter taste in my mouth. I hated that I was even saying them, and I hated that I had to rely on him. But there was no time to think about pride anymore. There was too much at stake.
There was a pause on the other end—long enough that I thought he might refuse.
Then his voice came again.
“Why are you telling me all this? Why are you helping me?”
My jaw tightened. Helping him? Who the fuck said I was helping him?
I looked back at Adrian’s mansion, my eyes fixed on the gates.
This wasn’t about Alessandro. It wasn’t about their past, and it wasn’t about bringing them back together. I didn’t care about fixing anything between them. I didn’t care about what happened between him and Elara.
I just didn’t want my friend to lose her memories.
I didn’t want her to wake up and become a stranger to the people who loved her, even if it meant bringing the two of them back together. Even if it meant watching something I didn’t want to happen, I just hoped I wouldn’t regret this decision one day.
