WHAT'S COMING

WHAT'S COMING
“She knocked on his door and walked in after he told her to come in. He was behind his desk. Going over some documents.

‘This kid’ she shook her head. He looked up at her putting everything down to give her his attention. She respected Calian, she can see how hard he works to maintain his father’s legacy. He is very similar to his father but sometimes he sees specks of his mother in him, which she is grateful for. He is one of the few honorable men left in this world. She is still unsure of whether or not it will be his undoing but sincerely hopes for the later.

“Hey, how did it go, everything okay?” he asked, he probably didn’t want to leave her down there with her but knew it was best for Aja to focus.

‘Oh what it is to be young and in love’ she thought

“I think it went well for her first day, she is open to trying most things so thats good. She is a bit afraid, I think that whole fie fiasco left some feelings but she should get over it soon enough. The more sure she is of herself the better she will be able to control her powers” she said as she sat down infront of him and grabbed one of the rib peaces on the plate left untouched on his desk. She took a bight before pointing the rib at him “you should eat, it’s pretty good” she said.

He sighed “too busy for food” he said. Stackingup some other notebooks on his desk.

“Weren’t you the one nagging you sweet little mate earlier today, going as far as feeding her the food to make sure she ate something” she chuckled “Should I tell her, so she comes up here to do that same for you?” she smirked “Or maybe Mikah can do it, that shouldn’t be too difficult a task for that mophead” she said looking at her nails.

Calian chuckled, he looked up at her shaking his head. He doesn’t think he will every know what really happened between those two. Maybe Aja will be able to find out and tell him.

“Why don’t we get to the important stuff” he placed his hands on the desk and focus his attention on Sarah.

“Right!” she said suddenly remembering why she was really there “Okay, the good stuff. Where to start?” she thought for a bit how to word this right.

“So I will just be blunt because there is no sugercoding this stuff” she started. He took a deep breath to brace himself for what ever is going to come out of her mouth next.

“A war is coming, the big one actually” she looked at him in the eye to make sure he knew she was not joking. He nodded his head but the tightening of his hands were a give away to the reaction her words really had on him. He never really questions Sarah, she has always been right about everything. She was a supported and ally of his pack since before he was old enough to speak. She supported his father because she believed in his cause. When he took over, he had to make certain decisions to prove himself worthy of her continued support. Even now he doesn’t know what decision or action was the decisive factor in her choice to support him after his father’s death but he is greatful all the same. So her telling him this means he needs to start preparing for the worst.

After a few seconds she continued “And you, and your pack are right in the middle of it, right now this could be a good thing or a horrible position to be in. I am honestly not sure, but I think having the odds being 50-50 should be taken as a good sign.”

“You being positive, this is a first” he tries to joke but took a sip of wter to calm his nerves a bit.

“I hope you know I will be on your side till the end, even though I don’t know which side will win. I am betting my marbles on you” she smiled at him.

He smiled back at her, hearing her say that did bring some comfort “So what are the two sides exactly?”

Sarah sighed “In the grand scheme of things it's always a battle between evil gaining power and good fighting agaisnt it to even the scales. Right now evil has tiped the scales towards their favor to the point of almost toppling the system all together. And this system is needed, the balance is needed in order to have a fully functioning society.” she smiled apologeically at him “I know this is all very vague but I have to be for your own good” she says.

“Yeah I know” he repeats what he she has told him on multiple occasions, were he would get frustrated and ask her for a specific answer to his question “Knowing the future and using it to your advantage attracts evil. Using evil to fight evil will only assure your own destruction.” She smiled proudly that he remembers this word for word.

“I can tell you, that your mate, that sweet girl downstairs is the main character in this war. She will need your protection, but most importantly she needs to learn how to protect herself. You cannot assure that you will be present evertime she is in danger, and she needs to know how to carry her own weight, atleast enough until you can get to her.”

He sat back placing his palms flat on the table trying to calm his nerves “She has already been through enough pain, I don’t want her going through more” he says

She moved forward “Unfortunatly that is not something you have control over honey” she could feel the love he has for her already. “And if I am being honest, even though this is something you will not like hearing. But everything she has gone through has made her who she is today. I don’t think she would be capable of doing what she will have to do in the future if she didn’t go through all the obstacles she faced so far” she said.

“I will never accept what she went through as something that was necessary” he stated more forceful than he intended but she didn’t seem affected as she nodded her head “And that’s okay, you are her protected, her warrior. It’s your job to make sure she goes through the least amount of pain possible. You don’t ever have to accept the idea of her going through any pain.”

He nodded his head in agreement “So how do I prepare? what does she need from me?”
“You should keep doing what you are already doing, I think you are on the path you were ment to follow. Keep following your instincts and keep gaining power the way you already are. Build your wealth, make your pack members strong enough to fight because there may come a time where physical violence will be needed. And support your mate in her decisions, she has very good instincts and a natural connection to the goddess. Ths means that the goddess will runs deep in her blood and can hopefully help guide you both in the right direction. But she needs to be more confident in herself otherwise she won’t trust her natural instincts and all that power will be misused.” she said. He rubbed his face in his hands and sighed.

She could tell Aja is what he most worries about, its unavoidable as his destined mate his priority will be her. Alot of people might find this to be weakness but Sarah knows this is the greatest strength of a successful pack.

“Like I said focus on what you are already doing and don’t focus to much on the big picture. Doing this will only drive you crazy, focus on what you do have control over and leave the rest to fall into place. Of course I will stay as long as I can to teach her everything I know, everything I think will benefit her”

“How long can you really stay?” he asked her.

“Two months, three maybe but it will be pushing it. After all I have my own part to play in all of this” she said.

“Aja has…holes in her memories…things she doesn’t remember. Is there something we could do to help her?” he asked.

“Well the mind is very fickle, it's hard to really know what works and what doesn’t when it comes to memory loss. But I do know that alot of times, these holes are there by choice, even if its subconsciously made, it’s still a choice nonetheless. I think with Aja’s passed the only way to get back the memories is for her to want them back. And I’m sure you know why something like that might not be something she would want.” she told him. “You can’t pick or choose which memories to get back. You get one and they all come flooding back.” she added.

“How do you stay so calm, knowing what you know. I mean..how do you not like going insane?” he asked her curiosity getting the best of him.

“I take my own advice” she chuckles “I focus on what I can control and hope the rest falls in the right place. I am interfering in a way but I am hopeful that since I am working for the side of good, the goddess will cut me some slack when my time is finally up” she laughs.

“We both know your time won’t be up anytime soon anyways” he laughed.

“Nobody, not even the goddess, knows when they will run out of time” she told him. She stood up “Anyways I am gonna go get some much needed rest in one of your unbearably comfortable, giant guest rooms” she walts towards the door.

Calian laughed “How do you manage to turn a complement into an insult, you are truly skilled” he said sarcastically.

She smiled back at him as she opened the door “Mmhmh…I don’t know you seem to have the skill as well,no?” she winked and closed the door behind her.

She went back down to get a night snack before going to bed. She walked by the back door as she headed to the kitchen and stoped when she saw Aja still out there, the daylight has turned into a night sky and the stars illuminate the sky. She can see her aura bright and strong as she practiced her deep breathing, right as she was about to turn away her aura suddenly disappeared and reappeared full fledged. It was for just a second. If she was anyone else , she might of thought it was a trick of the mind, wishful thinking or whatever. But Sarah new better, she did it, for a milisecond she hid her aura. Sarah smiled and walked away with a renewed pep in her step.
