Chapter 41

ANGEL SINCLAIR.

The next night, I toss and turn in bed. I can't think of anything but Bryan and what Ashley told me about interfering in what he does to help him in some way.

He's not at home, he left early and is at the party Cedric decided to throw in the middle of the week. What do these crazy kids have in their heads? They can't possibly be that clueless.

Agonized, I grab my cell phone and see that they're sharing the location of Cedric's new house on social media so that people can get there. In one of the videos posted, I see how crowded it is and all the nonsense that's going on at this party.

I wanted to go on without worrying about Bryan, but I just can't. I won't be able to sleep knowing that he's now in the middle of all these people, drinking and probably taking drugs. I can't let him stay like this, I have to do something.

With a sigh, I get out of bed and go straight to my closet. It's the first time in my life that I put on the first outfit I see in front of me, which is a pair of short overalls. I put on one of my sandals and grab my cell phone and my car key.

It's after 11pm, so I try not to make any noise, even though my father's room is on another floor. I go to the garage and leave in my car after plugging in my cell phone's GPS, heading for Cedric's house, not to mention the other way around.

As soon as I arrive, I can barely park because I can already see all the crowds around me. I leave the car in the street anyway and walk down with nothing, not even my cell phone.

I walk past without talking to anyone and avoid looking people in the face. It's also the first time that I don't care what anyone thinks of me at a party like this and in this outfit that I wouldn't wear in a public place.

As soon as I enter the house, I make a disgusted face and put my hand to my nose. It smells and smells of marijuana, and several people are dancing, rubbing up against each other while drinking from glasses or even from clinking glass bottles.

As soon as I spot Bryan, I go straight over to him. He's with Cedric and some other boys sitting on a sofa who seem to be on drugs. I reach Bryan by the arm and he's startled, because at first he doesn't see me.

"We're going home now, Bryan," I say loudly over the sound.

"It's gone badly for you, Bryan. Your little sister has arrived to break up your tour," Cedric says and the others laugh.

"Angeline, what the hell are you doing here?", he gets up angrily, "This place isn't for you!".

"And you think I don't know? It's not for me and it's not for you. Let's go, I've come to get you".

"I'm not going anywhere with you, who do you think you are?" He pulls his arm away, taking my hand.

Only then do I realize that Bryan is holding a liter of booze. Of course he's been drinking, it's impossible not to drink around drugged and crazy people.

"I don't care about anything, Bryan. You're not staying here, look at this place," I say.

"My house," Cedric says, intruding on the conversation and approaching us.

"Be cool, Cedric," says Bryan, pushing Cedric away by his chest.

"If you don't go, I'm not leaving," I say.

"It'll be a pleasure to have you here all night, kitten," says a voice right behind Bryan, it's one of the guys he was talking to before I arrived.

Bryan quickly turns around and punches the guy in the face. I'm startled and pull Bryan with all my might, preventing the guy from fighting back and starting a big mess here.

"What's up, Bryan? I thought we were partners," the boy says, wiping his hand across his already bloodied face.

"Don't fuck around, Paul," Bryan grumbles.

"Come on, now!" I demand, pulling Bryan out of the house again.

We walk to my car and I can feel all the anger he's transmitting. It's clear that Bryan hated that I came here and it's clear that he only came because I threatened to spend the whole night by his side and he wouldn't stand for it.

"I can't believe you did that shit, Angel!" he shouts, now sitting in the passenger seat.

"What did you want me to do?" I ask, shouting back, "Did you want me to stay at home sleeping while you stayed here doing drugs and getting even crazier than you already are by nature? I'm sorry, Bryan, but I wasn't going to let that happen," I say, starting the car again.

"Don't pry into my life, I've already told you!" he says angrily, "I've just got into trouble because of you."

"No, because of you", I correct, "I didn't tell you to punch that guy in the face, you did it because you wanted to".

"The next time you decide to show up at a place I'm at to deprive me of things I want to do, you're going to be very sorry."

"I did this for your own good, don't you see? Stop being an idiot, I don't want you to give in to this life of parties, parties, partying, drugs and booze," I say, starting to get nervous as I drive.

"And since when do you care about me? Since when do you care about anyone? You care about yourself. You were worried that someone would see me at Cedric's house because it would tarnish your father's image, your family's image, since now I'm part of it too. Stop pretending to care about me, because you only care about your shitty life. You only care about feeding your ego and your status, that's all you care about. You're nothing but an artificial pussy with no feelings," Bryan spits out the words, throwing the bottle of booze out of the car.

With the impact of his words, I end up slouching behind the wheel and feel my car hit something. My vision automatically blurs and I black out.
