Chapter 169 She's Priceless

Chapter 169 She's Priceless
SEBASTIAN

“I want to see that monster rot in jail,” he said coldly.

“You don’t need to worry too much, sir. The person responsible for all your suffering is dead,” I said firmly.

His eyes widened in shock.
“What did you say?”

“Luis is dead. He died three hours ago because he tried to escape prison so he could come back and get revenge on us, but fate passed its judgment,” I replied.

He chuckled darkly.

“I can’t believe I’m relieved because someone died, but that young man deserves to burn in hell,” he said, his voice trembling with his pure hatred for Luis.

I nodded in agreement as a thick silence settled between us.

“What about the divorce process? Has it been finalized?” he asked curiously.

“Since one of the parties is dead, it won’t take much longer,” I replied.

“Water,” Alma’s voice murmured, cutting through.

I instantly got to my feet and walked over to the jug of water on the nightstand.
Her father chuckled, shaking his head.
“She isn’t enjoying her sleep,” he said casually as I poured the water.

My brow furrowed in confusion.
“She isn’t enjoying her sleep?” I repeated, trying to understand what he meant.

“She only talks in her sleep when she isn’t sleeping comfortably. If she’s sleeping well, she won’t make a sound until morning,” he explained casually, flipping a page in his book.

I had actually noticed that recently. Unlike the nights we usually slept together, she hardly ever made a sound until she woke up.

I walked over and gently helped her sit up so she could drink. Once she had enough, she pulled away from the glass and immediately drifted back to sleep.

“You're exactly the kind of man she needs,” he said softly. Then his tone suddenly turned dangerously cold.
“But still... why on earth would you sleep with another man's wife until she got pregnant? I know her husband wasn't a good man, but who sleeps with another man's wife?”

I swallowed hard and dramatically lowered my head, pretending to feel guilty.
But damn... I didn't feel guilty at all.

And I'd be the stupidest man alive if I told him the real reason. That I had made her pleasure me under the pretense of teaching her how to satisfy her husband... or that I had slept with her that day and even recorded it.
I swear this man would kill me.

“She was my patient. I hated doctor-patient relationships, but when I met her, I fell in love with her. Only to discover she was my friend's wife. I also knew my friend was cheating on her. I knew he didn't deserve someone like her and that she deserved better. So I decided to treat her far better than her husband ever did... and she fell in love with me too. I never forced her,” I explained, making my voice sound as pitiful as possible.

Silence filled the room.

I slowly raised my head, only to meet his disgusted stare.

“And then you slept with her. You really are something else. Just leave my room,” he said, his voice dripping with disgust.

I nodded and started lifting Alma from the bed.

“What do you think you're doing?” he snapped, completely baffled.

Alma immediately opened her eyes.
A bright smile spread across her face.
“Sebastian... you're home,” she grinned before burying her face against my neck.

I shrugged my shoulders at her father as if silently saying, See? I didn't force her.

He let out a defeated sigh and waved his hand dismissively.

A triumphant smile spread across my face as I carried my treasure out of the room.
Now she only had to be attached to me, not anyone else.

I walked into our room and gently laid her on the bed.

Then I pulled out my phone and noticed a message from Bianca.
I opened it.

"Sebastian, Luis is dead. What should I do? I wanted to see him tomorrow. I wanted to talk to him. Even if he had to spend the rest of his life in prison, we could still have visited him, me and his child, but now he's dead."

My fists tightened.
What the heck is wrong with this girl?
After everything she'd been through, she was still clinging to Luis.
What kind of hopeless love was this?
I started typing a reply, then stopped.
No.
A phone call would be better. A text couldn't convey my emotions.
I quickly called her. She answered immediately.

From the sound of her voice, it was obvious she had been crying.

“What the heck is wrong with you, Bianca?” I snapped harshly.

“What’s wrong with me?” she cried.
“Sebastian, why are you so selfish? You only care about yourself and no one else. Because your unborn child and his mother are with you, you get to hold her and take care of her however you want. What about me? No one cares about me. And my child will be born a bastard.”

I shut my eyes in frustration and took a deep breath.

“There are plenty of rooms here. Do you want to come over?”

She let out a bitter laugh. “Come over? So Alma can keep looking at me as though I’m trying to steal you away from her? I wish I could. If we weren't siblings, I would have. She doesn't deserve you.”

My fists tightened. There it was. That annoying side of her again.

Honestly, people rarely change. They simply adjust to their circumstances. And she had just proved me right.
So she hadn't really changed. Steal me away from Alma? Was that even possible?

“Bianca, I care about you because you're my sister by blood. Do you honestly think I'd want anything to do with someone like you if we weren't related?” I snapped in disgust.

“You know everything Luis did to my ex-girlfriend and to Alma's father. You know he killed Phoebe. You know he was heartless enough to sell you to a pleasure house just so you could make money for him. Yet you still want to hold on to him.” I paused and took a deep breath. “You said Alma doesn't deserve me. Then tell me... which woman does? You? My own sister, who doesn't even know her own worth? Or the slut you introduced me to last month? Or who the hell deserves me?” I snapped.

Silence followed. “You know why Alma ended up with a better man, just as you said? Because she knows her worth. She chooses men who give her peace of mind, not men who treat her like trash or a sex toy.”

She sniffled. “I’m going to Mother tomorrow. I can see you’re not proud to call me your sister. You think I’m a disgrace.”

I rubbed my forehead, exhausted by her emotional games.

“Fine. It’s best you go to Mother. If you ever need anything, just let me know.”
Before I could finish speaking, she hung up.
My fists tightened as I tossed the phone onto the bed.
