Chapter 421 - My Husband, My Secret Lover
Author POV
Hayden rode his bicycle across the familiar streets and lanes to see Stela. When he arrived at the Walker's House, he saw many petals falling from the sky. The next moment, he saw Stela and reached out his hand to her, saying in a mellow voice, "Stela, you're finally here." Everything in Hayden's dream was so wonderful.
Lying on the bed, Stela was stunned for a moment when she heard his words and thought that Hayden woke up. Seeing his eyes closed, she realized that he was just talking in his sleep and said softly, "Yes, I'm here." Then she saw Hayden smile as if he had heard her.
As her sleepiness was completely gone, she propped herself up on one elbow and gazed at Hayden' face in the dim light given out by the wall lamp. This time, she noticed the dark circles under his eyes.
Hayden used to work out and had perfectly tanned skin. Since he couldn't move freely after being injured, he rarely went out and his skin became fair, which made his dark circles look very distinct.
Looking at him, Stela remembered that no matter how late it was when she came out from the children's room after lulling them to sleep, the light in his study was still on. She had thought that Hayden stayed in the study all day to avoid meeting her. Now she realized that she had misunderstood him and that he stayed in the study and worked late every day because he had a lot of work to do.
You can't go on like this, or your health will break down before your legs recover, Hayden, Stela thought. Unable to sleep, she got out of bed, wrapped herself in her coat, and put on her slippers. Then she closed the wall lamp and tiptoed out of the room to the study.
When she entered Hayden's study, she saw a pile of documents related to the recent projects of the company on the desk. In the past few months, she had been helping manage King International Corporation and had a feeling of inadequacy so she decided to put more effort into learning how to manage a company.
At this time, the screen of Hayden's phone on the desk lit up. Stela looked at the screen and saw a message from Liam which said that they needed to show the design drawing to the customer tomorrow.
Considering that Hayden was sleeping, Stela decided to deal with the work for him and turned on Hayden's computer. Then she was prompted to enter the password. Not knowing if Hayden had changed the password, she entered the password that Hayden had set when they were together and hit Enter with a hesitant look. The next moment, the familiar desktop wallpaper came into view.
The wallpaper was a picture of the bright starry sky that was set when they were together.
Staring at the screen, Stela felt as if her heart was pinched by a hand. Slowly pulling out the chair, she sat down and then opened the drawing software.
Stela had read the project plan carefully and knew that Hayden was doing business with a regular customer and the design drawing hadn't been finished. Looking at the unfinished design drawing on the screen, she decided to finish it for Hayden. After reading the customer needs summarized by the design department, she began to work. In case she would be more of a hindrance than a help, she was very careful with every stroke she made.
The customer wanted to launch a series of new badges that matched the coming season. The requirements for product design were not hard to meet. However, to increase the market share, the customer required a lower cost of the jewelry.
Thinking of something, Stela suddenly put down the electronic brush, picked up Hayden' phone, and texted Liam. Call me when you see this message.
Half a minute later, a phone call from Liam came. As soon as Stela answered the phone, Liam's voice came from the other end of the line.
"Mr. King, since the order is a sizable one and the badge will also be served as the prize of an international competition, the customer wants to talk to you in person. Can you come to the company tomorrow?"
Hearing this, Stela thought, Hayden wants to go to the company but he can't. Then she replied to Liam, "It's still not convenient for him to go to the company. I'll go to the company to deal with it. By the way, the documents here are not complete. Do you have the sketches of the previous versions and the raw material samples? Take pictures of them and send them to me."
Liam was a little surprised when hearing Stela's voice. "Well... Is Mr. King..."
"He's asleep. He has just undergone a bone reduction today and can't go to the company," Stela said.
Liam then told her that he had sent the sketches and the raw material samples to the King' Residence before. After chatting briefly with him, Stela hung up the phone.
Since Hayden was sleeping, she certainly wouldn't do such a thing as waking him and asking him where he had put the sketches and the samples and could only look for them herself. Then she began to rummage around in the study.
Thinking that the drawer was usually the first choice for storage, she opened the drawer of the desk without hesitation. When she saw what was in the drawer, she was a little surprised. In addition to the sketches and the samples she needed, she saw a familiar item-her diary with a slightly old cover.
Since she still had work to do, she was not in the mood to think about why Hayden kept it. After gently stroking its cover, she picked up the sketches. She had to finish the design drawing before tomorrow morning.
According to the outline of the flower on the sketch, Stela drew three versions of the most commonly seen flower in the coming season. After looking at the flowers for a while, she drew a vine under one of the flowers.
When she finished the design drawings, it was well past midnight. Looking out of the window at the dark sky, she yawned, feeling tired. After confirming that she had saved the design drawings, she turned off the computer and left the study.
When Stela was back in Hayden's bedroom, Hayden was still sleeping in the previous position. Saying good night to him in her heart, she got into bed and lay down beside him. Soon, she fell into a deep sleep.
......
The next morning, Stela was woken by the cellphone alarm. In drowsiness, she reached out her hand lazily and slowly under the pillow. The next moment, at the thought that Hayden was still sleeping, she was wide awake and turned off the alarm immediately. Then she sat up and turned her head to see if Hayden was woken by the alarm. To her surprise, Hayden was not in the room.
