Stella Walker POV

"Mrs. Walker, I'm sorry but you're still not pregnant."

The hope that shimmered my eyes vanished all at once. I bit my lip in utter disappointment and murmured, " Ah, I see..."

My shoulder slumped down in disdain, the anxiety hitting me high on my nerves.

What was I going to do now? It looked like I failed at it again.

I could feel the doctor looking at me with a heartbroken expression. With sympathy look on his face, the doctor handed me the pregnancy test report, saying...

" Mrs. Walker, why not... let it go? You're too weak now. Even if you get pregnant, it will be difficult for you to deliver a full-term baby."

His words brought me nothing but more disappointment in me, not a single word escaped from my mouth. Instead of replying him I just bit my lower lip, feeling very chilly at the same time.

My old sorrows were bursting open, and it pained me more than anything. I already felt defeated.

"Mrs. Walker, are you okay?" The doctor asked me with concern laced in his voice.

"I'm fine, Doctor. I'm listening." I replied with a quiver in my voice. My lips were bloodless and pale. I looked as if I was half dead from the inside out.

Like there was no single trace of hope of life in me anymore. How come fate was never in my favor? What have I ever done to suffer like this?

Seeing my pitiful state, the doctor let out a deep sigh. "If you receive chemotherapy now, there is still a chance that you can live longer."

Chemotherapy? No. There was no time for that!

" No, I must get pregnant." I stood up abruptly and made a firm decision. "Doctor, please give me another injection for ovulation. I want to try again."

The doctor shook his head disagreeing with me. "You've had these injections for half a year. They are hormones. They will make cancer cells grow faster!"

"But I don't mind. Please..." I begged him desperately, looking even more pitiful. I couldn't sit back and do nothing.

At any cost, I have to get pregnant.

"Mrs. Walker, why do you torture yourself like this?" The doctor looked at me sadly.

"Please, doctor. I need it." I implored him, tears forming at the edge of my eyes.

"Alas…" Taken aback by my pitiful situation, the doctor sighed and finally prescribed the injection and handed over the sheet.

"Go to the second floor and turn left. Do make the best use of the 24 hours following the injection, because it is the golden period of getting pregnant."

I took the sheet with newfound hope and bowed to him "Thank you. Thank you very much, doctor!"

Even at night 9 p.m, I was all alone in the big villa. This was no surprise to me.

I dialed the familiar number and waited.
