Chapter 416 - My Husband, My Secret Lover
Author POV
After counting to three in her heart, Stela turned the doorknob and rushed in. At the same time, Hayden knew that it was too late to lock the door so he began to put on the shirt he had taken off as fast as he could. However, it was still too late.
When Stela came in, her eyes fell on Hayden's chest and she saw the words "My Stars" in beautiful italics tattooed at his heart.
My stars... Looking at the tattoo, Stela was touched, knowing that the stars were referring to her and the children.
Noticing her gaze, Hayden quickly covered the tattoo with his shirt and said coldly, "Get out!"
Hearing his words, Stela didn't move. With mixed feelings, she asked, "When did you get that tattoo?"
"I can’t remember," Hayden said. He wanted to put on the shirt quickly. However, as he was too anxious, the shirt was tangled up.
With her mind going blank, Stela stared at Hayden silently, tears welling up in her eyes. "I've never seen this tattoo before," she said in a low voice.
The next moment, Hayden became angry from embarrassment. He quickly smoothed out his shirt and put it on. Then he pointed at the bathroom door and said in a trembling voice, "Get out of here. I don't want to see you now. Get out!"
Since Stela and he met again, he had always shown a cold attitude toward her and said cruel words to drive her away. But even at the angriest moment, he couldn’t help but soften his tone when he lost his temper and didn’t have the heart to say harsh words to her. As a result, Stela, who could understand why he treated her so indifferently, was used to his attitude toward her and had never thought about leaving him.
With a cold expression, Hayden couldn't help peeking at her from the corner of his eyes after saying those words.
"When did you have it tattooed?" Stela didn't leave as he expected. She took a step forward and approached him with the rims of her eyes and nose red, looking like a lovely rabbit.
Hayden was dazed by her lovely look and forgot to speak for a moment. Wrenching his mind back to the present, he turned his face away and said, "It has nothing to do with you."
"You have my nickname tattooed on your chest and now you said it has nothing to do with me? Hayden, do you think I will believe that? Can't you just tell me the truth?" Stela said, standing in front of him and looking straight at him with her big eyes red and watery. Her eyes were beautiful with dark pupils and fringed with incredibly long lashes. When she blinked, pearly tears dropped out of her eyes.
When Hayden saw her like this, his heart softened and his anger gradually faded away, but the fluster and embarrassment caused by his secret being found out still did not disappear. He softened his voice again and quickly said in a slightly hoarse voice, "You think too much. Why should it have anything to do with you?"
Hearing this, Stela didn’t say anything and thought, What an unconvincing excuse.
Perhaps Hayden also felt that his excuse was farfetched so he calmed himself down and continued, "As you can see, nothing happened to me and I'm fine. You can go out now. I've been a jerk and made many mistakes in the past. I have this tattoo just because I want to use these words to remind myself of the mistakes I've made. It doesn't mean anything else."
"You are fine? Then why haven’t you started to take a shower?" Stela said boldly and bluntly.
"If you hadn’t broken in, I should be taking a shower now," Hayden said stubbornly, "I was just slow to take off my clothes. I’m injured now. The doctor said I can’t be too careful when I take a shower."
"Okay," Stela said with a nod. Then she swept back her long and fine hair in a ponytail and roll up her sleeves. She had been worried that Hayden would be irritated if she insisted on helping him take a shower, but now all her worries had gone because she was sure that
Hayden still loved her. And she knew that he refused her just because he still couldn’t get over what she had done to him half a year ago.
It doesn't matter that he can’t accept me now. He used to chase me and love me wholeheartedly. Now it’s my turn to take the initiative. It’s not a big deal that I chase him, Stela thought. After taking a deep breath, she reached out her hand and said, "Hand me the plastic wrap and take off your trousers. I’ll wrap your legs with it for you."
Hearing her words, Hayden was stunned for a moment and then blushed to his ears. Pretending to be calm, he said, "I don't need your help. I can do it myself."
Since Stela was standing in front of him, he was too embarrassed to take off his trousers. Feeling helpless, he reminded her, "I'm going to take off my trousers. Why are you still standing here? Why don't you go out? Please leave me alone. If I need any help, I'll call you."
Seeing him like this, Stela knew that she couldn't persuade him so she showed her determination to stay here with her actions.
The next moment, she directly unbuttoned his wet shirt, took it off, and threw it into the laundry basket.
When Hayden realized what had happened, he had been half-naked. Seeing Stela stare at the tattoo on his chest, he sighed helplessly and asked, "You have seen it just now, haven’t you? Do you have to look at it again?"
"Yes," Stela answered in a calm voice with a slight flush on her cheeks. "I want to see it clearly." As she spoke, she touched the tattoo with her fingertips as gently as she could as if she was touching a treasure.
Hayden, you have lost a lot of weight and your chest is less muscular than before. Stela thought, She couldn’t imagine how Hayden had been through the days in prison.
Looking at Stela who was standing close to him and touching him, Hayden froze and his heart skipped a beat. The next moment, Stela moved her hands to his waist.
Trying hard to keep calm, Hayden gritted his teeth and said, "Stop it. You’ve crossed the line. If you forget what I said just now, I don’t mind repeating it. Get out and stay away from me!"
However, what he said was in vain because Stela knew that he was just pretending to be cold. She was not affected by his words at all and continued to unbuckle his belt.
"Can't you be cooperative?" It took Stela a long time to unbuckle his belt and then she pulled it out of the belt loops.
Sitting on the chair steadily, Hayden grasped the handrails on both sides of the chair, not intending to be cooperative at all. "You can go out if you think it's troublesome. It's easier for me to do it myself."
Hearing this, Stela looked at him up and down. After thinking for a while, she came up with an idea. "Don't move. I’ve got an idea."
After saying that, she ran out of the bathroom without telling Hayden what she was going to do.
I must lock the door before she comes back, Hayden thought. Unexpectedly, just when he was about to stand up, Stela came back in a hurry. With a pair of scissors in her hand, Stela said leisurely, "Since you don't want to be cooperative, I'll cut your trousers. Anyway, you have many trousers and it’s no big deal that I break one."
Hayden was taken aback and said, "Since when did you become like this?"
"As you said, people change."
"Then what made you change? Is it Victor?" Hayden said.
