Chapter 341. The Final Move

Chapter 341. The Final Move
One night, a warehouse belonging to one of Wyndham’s subsidiary companies suddenly caught fire. The security guards noticed it in time, so no one was killed, but a large amount of goods stored inside was burned to ashes.

Two days later, the brakes on the car of a senior manager at Thorney were also tampered with. Fortunately, the driver noticed something was wrong before he drove the car out of the parking lot.

Galvin understood that this was a warning from Andrea. Andrea wanted to use the rules of the underworld to frighten them and force them to stop.

But those attacks only made Galvin more certain that Andrea had already been pushed into a dead end.

A man who lost his calm would make mistakes. Galvin continued attacking Preston’s subsidiary companies according to the original plan, without changing the pace of his actions. At the same time, he secretly increased the protection around Ellie, Ansel, Helena, and every other person who mattered to them.

Kevin was also watched closely by the members of the Thorne family. Even though his body had not yet recovered, he still wanted to take part in the hunt himself instead of sitting at home and waiting for news.

Every day, Kevin read through the reports Galvin sent him. Whenever he saw that another Preston subsidiary had been shut down or another piece of their property had been frozen, he could not help wondering whether Helena would feel even a little satisfied when she saw the same news.

But making Andrea lose money was still far from enough. What Kevin truly wanted was for Andrea to lose his life.

During this time, Galvin’s men managed to trace one of Preston’s secret warehouses. It was located near the border and was registered under the name of a machinery import company.

From the outside, the warehouse had all the proper documents and permits. However, the weight of the containers entering the place did not match the goods listed on the shipping records.

Galvin’s men did not rush in right away. They watched the warehouse for many days, writing down the license plates of every suspicious vehicle and taking note of the people who appeared there often. Later, one truck left the warehouse and drove to an old chemical plant. There, they saw several crates being moved onto another vehicle before they were taken to the port late at night.

Galvin immediately contacted the person in charge of the investigation, but he did so very carefully and made sure no information leaked out. This time, Galvin wanted to bring Andrea down in a single strike and leave him no chance to escape.

While Galvin quietly gathered more evidence, Andrea was also preparing his final move. He knew there was no longer any way to save the family’s businesses through normal methods. Some members of the Preston family had already begun demanding that he step down from his position as leader.

They believed that everything happening now had started because of the conflict between Andrea and Galvin. If they handed Andrea over, Wyndham and Thorney might stop attacking them.

The moment Andrea heard that suggestion, he smashed the glass in his hand against the floor. He refused to let himself become the person sacrificed to save the rest of the family. In Andrea’s eyes, nothing he had ever done was wrong.

He wanted Ellie because he loved her. He wanted Wyndham Group because Galvin did not deserve to control it. He had taken revenge on Helena and Kevin because the two of them had ruined his plans.

In his mind, someone else was always the one at fault. Andrea could not accept defeat, so he decided to kill Galvin and Kevin himself.

As long as those two men died, the alliance between Wyndham and Thorne would immediately fall apart. Galvin was already seriously ill. If he died during this period, people would not have too many reasons to suspect anything.

Kevin had also only recently suffered a stroke. If Kevin suddenly died, there would be a believable explanation for that as well.

Andrea hired a professional assassin from overseas. The man had carried out many assassinations before, yet he had never once left behind any evidence that could be traced back to him.

But what Andrea never expected was that his closest assistant, the man who had followed him for more than ten years, had betrayed him and secretly begun working for Galvin a long time ago.

It was not because Galvin had offered the assistant a large amount of money, nor because Galvin had helped him escape punishment for some crime. The real reason was that years ago, Galvin had paid for the assistant’s education and had also covered the cost of his mother’s heart surgery.

Because of that, when the assistant learned that Andrea had hired an assassin to kill Galvin, he secretly passed the information to Galvin without letting anyone around Andrea notice.

After receiving the warning, Galvin immediately ordered Brian to investigate the assassin’s whereabouts. It did not take long before the assassin’s entire route, from the moment he left his own country to every place he had visited after arriving, was laid out on Galvin’s desk.

However, Galvin did not rush to capture the assassin. Instead, he planned to use the man to draw Andrea out and uncover the place where Andrea was hiding.

Ever since Preston’s businesses had begun collapsing one after another, Andrea had stopped staying at his private residence. He kept changing locations, never remaining in the same place for very long.

Even the people closest to him, including that assistant, did not know exactly where he was staying. The only reason the assistant knew about the assassination plan was that Andrea himself had ordered him to arrange a safe way for the assassin to enter the country without drawing attention.

And now, if the assassin wanted to receive his final instructions, he would have no choice but to contact Andrea directly.

Galvin deliberately allowed the schedule for his next hospital examination to be leaked. He made it look as though the information had gotten out by accident, giving Andrea a clear chance to make his move.

At the same time, Kevin also had his people spread word that he would personally attend an upcoming shareholders’ meeting of the Thorne family.

Seeing both targets appear at the same time, the assassin immediately made his move.

He chose Galvin first. There were too many people constantly coming and going in the hospital, which made it much easier for him to hide among them without being noticed.

He disguised himself as a nurse. That night, he quietly slipped into Galvin’s hospital room. The moment he pulled a syringe filled with poison from his pocket, Galvin’s eyes suddenly flew open. At the same time, four bodyguards who had been hiding in the darkness rushed forward together and pinned the assassin down before he could get anywhere near the bed.

Galvin slowly sat up on the hospital bed and stared at the assassin with a dark, cold look in his eyes.

“Call Andrea.”
