Chapter 337. Andrea Must Pay
Chapter 337. Andrea Must Pay
By the time Galvin walked into Kevin’s private room, he saw Kevin sprawled on the floor, looking miserable and humiliated.
Kevin’s face had grown much thinner than before. His white hair made him look almost like another person, someone who had aged many years in a single night. Only his bloodshot eyes were still the same. They were filled with the same madness and pain they had held on that day.
When Kevin saw Galvin, he finally stopped pushing the servants away. He allowed them to lift him from the floor and help him sit down on the sofa.
Galvin sat opposite him. There was clear mockery in his voice when he spoke.
“You really look pathetic.”
Kevin did not care about Galvin’s sarcasm at all. He leaned forward with difficulty and spoke in a hurried, hoarse voice.
“Take me to see Helena.”
Galvin looked at him coldly and gave him only one answer.
“No.”
Kevin’s expression twisted at once. Anger rushed across his face, and he shouted as loudly as his damaged voice allowed.
“What right do you have to stop me from seeing her? She is my wife! You already have your own wife, so why are you interfering with someone else’s wife?”
Galvin curled his lips into a cold, mocking smile.
“Your wife? Do you really think you deserve to have a wife?”
Galvin’s words left Kevin unable to answer. His lips moved, but no words came out. He knew very well that he had no right to defend himself. Still, right now, the only thing he wanted was to see Helena with his own eyes.
Kevin opened his mouth, ready to say something else, but Galvin cut him off before he could speak.
“Stop wasting your breath. I will not let you see Helena. Instead of lying here every day like an abandoned dog, crying and shouting that you want to see her, why don’t you put that energy into taking revenge for her?”
The two men looked at each other across the room.
One of them was suffering from a terminal illness. His face was pale and weak, but his eyes remained cold and steady.
The other had only recently survived a stroke. His hair had turned completely white, and his body was badly weakened, but the pain in his eyes had not faded at all.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Galvin took out a thin folder, placed it on the table between them, and slowly pushed it toward Kevin.
“Andrea has to pay for every tragedy he caused.”
Kevin stared fixedly at the file on the table. The hand that had not yet fully recovered trembled slightly beside him. But this time, it was not because his body was weak, nor was it because he was in pain. It was because of the rage burning inside him. The image of Helena tied to that chair kept flashing through his mind over and over again. He could still see the blood running down between her legs, and he could still hear the sound of her desperate pleas as she begged them to stop.
Kevin gripped the armrest of the chair tightly. A sharp pain immediately shot through the knuckles that had not yet healed, but he did not loosen his grip at all. His fingers remained locked around the armrest. This pain made his mind a little clearer and helped him stay awake through the anger filling his head.
“I want him dead.”
Kevin’s voice was extremely hoarse. After the stroke, speaking still made one side of his face feel slightly stiff. The words did not come out as easily as before. But every single word he forced out of his mouth was filled with deep hatred.
Galvin did not react to what Kevin had said. Instead, he opened the file in front of them and turned to one of the pages inside.
“It won’t be hard to make Andrea die. But if we only kill him, the Preston family will still be there. And those devils will most likely continue taking revenge on the innocent people around us. More people who have nothing to do with this may end up suffering, just like Helena.”
Kevin raised his head and looked at him. Galvin pointed at a shareholding chart placed inside the file.
Most of the Preston family’s businesses were not located in the country. Many years ago, the members of that family had already moved the main focus of their operations to overseas markets. Real estate, maritime shipping, mineral extraction, chemical businesses, financial investments, and even several technology companies had all been divided up and established in many different countries.
To outsiders, those companies did not appear to have any direct connection with one another. The Preston family name also did not appear on most of the documents related to them. On paper, they all looked like separate companies with no clear relationship between them.
But Galvin’s men had followed the money transfers Andrea had used while dealing with Wyndham Group. They traced those transactions one after another, following the money through every company it had passed through. From there, they finally discovered an enormous network of intermediary companies hidden behind all those transfers.
Andrea had used this very network to hide his assets. It was also through this network that he had been able to transfer money, bribe other people, and manipulate things inside the country without being easily discovered.
“The Preston family has more than forty companies in total, both large and small.”
Galvin turned to the next page. “Thirteen of those companies are registered under the names of people who have direct connections with the Preston family. The rest are managed by relatives, lawyers, subordinates, or overseas trust funds.”
Kevin looked at the complicated lines connecting one company to another across the paper.
“Is this everything?”
“Not yet,” Galvin answered coldly. “This is only what I’ve managed to uncover so far.”
“Then what are you planning to do?”
“Cut off every way they have left to survive.” Galvin’s eyes remained completely calm.
He did not speak in an angry voice, nor did he show too much emotion on his face. But it was exactly that calmness that made his words sound even colder.
Galvin wanted the Preston family to lose everything they had. He did not only want to destroy Andrea. He wanted to tear down the entire foundation that had allowed Andrea to become so arrogant that he no longer cared whether other people lived or died.
When they were young, Andrea had always been compared with Galvin by the people around them, so it was not difficult to understand why he had grown to hate Galvin so much. But Wyndham Group had been too powerful and too firmly established. No matter how hard Andrea tried or how much effort he put into it, he had never been able to defeat Galvin.
