Chapter 332. No Right to See Her

Chapter 332. No Right to See Her
“Take… take me… to see… Helena…”

Galvin frowned and tried to brush Kevin’s hand away. Kevin’s hand was covered in blood, and now the blood had stained Galvin’s sleeve as well. When he went back to the room later, he would have to find some excuse to explain it to Ellie again.

What a nuisance.

But Kevin was holding on far too tightly. No matter how Galvin tried, he could not pull his hand free from Kevin’s grip. Just at that moment, Galvin’s phone suddenly began to ring.

The person calling was Alex.

Alex had called to report that Helena’s surgery had just ended. After several long hours of emergency treatment, the doctors had managed to keep her alive for the time being. The baby inside her had not lost its heartbeat either.

When Galvin heard that, the hand holding his phone loosened slightly without him noticing.

Kevin had naturally heard every word as well. In his eyes, which had been filled with madness, pain, and complete despair, a thin and fragile spark of hope suddenly appeared.

Kevin tried with all the strength he had left to force out a sound. The corner of his mouth that could still move lifted slightly, but half of his face had already gone stiff and numb, making the expression on his face look horribly twisted and frightening.

But that brief joy lasted for only a single moment. Alex’s voice soon turned heavy and grim again.

“Boss, the doctors managed to keep the baby’s heart beating, but Helena’s abdomen suffered injuries that were far too severe. She lost a great deal of blood, and her body had also been tortured and abused for a long time. The baby is now in an extremely weak condition. There is almost no chance that the child will survive, and the fetal heartbeat could stop at any moment. Even if the doctors manage to keep the baby alive for a little while longer, the chance of the child surviving until the day of birth is still almost zero.”

The faint light in Kevin’s eyes shattered at once.

He lay motionless on the floor, as if all the life had been drained out of his body. Only a weak, broken wheezing sound came from deep inside his throat.

“Galvin, take me… to see… Helena… I… I want to… find the best doctors… to treat her… and the baby… if… if that is what she wants… I can use… my own life… to repay everything I owe…”

Galvin looked down at Kevin with cold eyes.

From the very beginning, Galvin had never intended to take this man to see Helena. The promise he had made before had only been a way to make Kevin agree to open the video and watch it.

Galvin wanted Kevin to see with his own eyes every single thing Helena had been forced to suffer.

This was the price Kevin had to pay for what he had done.

It was also the revenge Galvin was carrying out in Helena’s place.

Helena was still unconscious and could not ask for justice for herself. She might never want to take revenge on Kevin. But Galvin did not care about that. All he knew was that Helena had helped both him and Ellie. She had never owed either of them anything, yet in the end, she was the one who had suffered the heaviest consequences. If Kevin only had to say that he was sorry and then was allowed to stand beside her hospital bed, it would all be far too easy for him.

Galvin took out his phone and called the Thorne family.

He told them that Kevin was at his villa and that his condition was extremely serious. He ordered them to send someone over at once and take Kevin away.

The moment Kevin heard him, he immediately shook his head and tried to refuse.

“No! I’m not… leaving! I want to see… Helena…”

But Galvin paid no attention to Kevin’s shouting. Not long afterward, the sound of cars came from outside the villa. Members of the Thorne family rushed into the garden together with a group of doctors. When they saw Kevin lying on the ground, every one of them stopped where they were.

No one could recognize the man in front of them.

His face was badly swollen and covered in dark bruises. Blood covered his forehead and the corners of his mouth. Both of his hands were torn and mangled, and nearly all of his fingernails had been ripped loose. One side of his body could no longer move at all.

The most frightening thing was his hair. Kevin’s once-black hair had almost completely turned silver-gray. He looked as though he had aged by several decades in only a very short time.

The doctors immediately crouched down and examined him. Kevin was showing signs of a stroke. His heartbeat was chaotic, and he had already lost far too much blood. If he did not receive emergency treatment right away, he could die at any moment.

A stretcher was quickly brought over. When the others tried to lift him from the ground, Kevin suddenly began struggling hard. His left hand clung tightly to the ground, causing his already torn fingers to split open and bleed again.

He did not want to leave…

Kevin looked toward Galvin with pleading eyes, but the doctors and the Thorne family still lifted him and placed him onto the stretcher.

The stretcher was carried out of the garden. The distance between Kevin and Galvin grew farther and farther with every step.

Kevin kept staring at Galvin without blinking. Even when his body had been carried all the way to the car, he still did not look away. It was only when Galvin’s figure was completely blocked from his sight by the car door that Kevin’s other hand slowly dropped back down.

The door of the car closed.

Kevin lay motionless on the stretcher while tears continued to run down the sides of his face and into his hair, which had already turned almost completely white.

Galvin stood there and watched the car taking Kevin away until it had disappeared from sight. Only then did he let out a long breath. He looked down at the blood staining the sleeve of his shirt, then turned around, planning to change into another set of clothes before going back to the room to stay with Ellie.

But the moment Galvin turned around, he saw Ellie crouching on the ground behind him.

In her hand was the phone containing the video of Helena being tortured, the same phone Kevin had accidentally dropped earlier.
