Chapter 163 Guest

Chapter 163 Guest
Kalyssa closed the door behind her, when she turned around she saw Desmond already casually moving towards the stairs. She raised an eyebrow at him.
He was moving as if he lived there already, like he already knew where to put his stuff.
Kalyssa crossed her hands over her chest and waited. A small smile threatened to break out on her face. Desmond pulled his bags to the stairs, picked them up, and marched up the stairs.
Kalyssa was amused.
Well as a man of his caliber who has never in his life done something similar to this before or has never even had to stay over at someone’s place, he wouldn't know what he was and was not supposed to do.

Little did Kalyssa know that Desmond was actually trying to avoid being asked to sleep in the guest room.
He has been to her house a lot of times, and he had marked the area he thought his bedroom would be. Desmond felt that as her boyfriend, they should be closer.
But when he pulled his bag to her room door, he stopped.
‘Was what he was doing right? They have t even established the fact that they loved each other.’
Of course, he liked her, he wasn't sure what he felt for her was as strong as love but he knew he wanted her.
And not just wanted her. He wanted to be around her every minute, every hour. He wanted to touch her, hold her at every given opportunity. He loved talking to her, he loved hearing her talk. He loved watching her work. He loved looking at her. He hated to see other people especially men pull her attention when they were together. He craved her scent and her touch when she was far away.
And most especially he loved the feeling of her lips on his. He wanted to do it at every opportunity he got. It was addictive.
But does that really warrant his impulsive behavior? He hadn't considered her feelings when he made that decision.
She had just gotten out of a failed, traumatic marriage, and he was, waltzing in and embroiling himself in her life.
She liked him…maybe…yes. But has it gotten to that stage?
Desmond sighed and moved to the room next to it. The time he visited after Kalyssa’s divorce, he overheard Kalyssa tell Greg and Candy that their room was always cleaned up just in case they wanted to stay over.
He was guessing this would be one of the rooms. When Desmond opened the door.
He was right.
There was a slight sliver in his chest when he realised that she always kept room for other men.
(Desmond still hasn't found out that Candy was a woman.)
After settling himself in, he came down to see Kalyssa staring at him, amused.
“Welcome to my house, let me show you to your room,” she said with a sassy kick in her tone. Desmond chuckled and scratched the back of his head to hide his embarrassment.
“You said Greg and—candy had rooms, so I thought…” he trailed off at the end.
“They have rooms here and I have rooms in their houses.”
Kalyssa turned around and headed to the kitchen to prepare something. Whatever room he picked would be dealt with later.
All that thinking left her hungry.
Desmond took off his jacket and followed her two steps instinctively, before she turned around and held up her hand.
“Thats enough. Act like a guest.” she berated.
Desmond stopped. Then he realises that he had subconsciously given in to the urge to follow her wherever.
He nodded and turned around to sit in the living room. Kalyssa gave him one last look before going into the kitchen.

In the living room, Desmond picked up the remote to change the channel but when he saw what was already playing he decided against it.
He heard noises from the kitchen and turned around to look. He couldn't see her but he could hear her.
Desmond turned around and tried to focus on the movie but he found out that he couldn't. He took out his phone, took a picture, and then thought for two seconds before posting.
The caption was;
“After the big incident, my girlfriend decided to protect me.”
From his angle, one could see the cute plush toy beside him and the phone with a purple pouch. He put away his phone, unaware that in minutes his post would make headlines.

After putting away his phone he suddenly felt bored and alone. He hummed a song to alleviate the silence, tapped his feet but it didn't help.
Finally, he practically jumped to his feet and sped walked to the kitchen. There he saw her humming, her back to him as she stirred the pot.
His heart finally settled. Now he understood why some men behaved like simps around an attractive woman. He crossed his arms and leaned on the kitchen door, watching her.
Kalyssa turned around and almost had a jump scare. Her hands flew to her chest. A smile broke out on his face when he saw her flustered look.
“Don't do that again.” she glared at him. He chuckled and nodded.
“I'm sorry. I should have made more noise, I know that you are used to living alone.”
Kalyssa turned around saying nothing. Halfway done she remembered that she hadn't diced some vegetables
“Shoot.” She turned to hurry when he stepped up.
“I'll help.” and then he took over. Kalyssa was stunned for a second. This was a novel experience for her. Never for once had James offered to help her in the kitchen before.
“Thanks,” she said in a daze.
With Desmond’s help, the cooking went more smoothly. Kalyssa served the plate and they ate silently.
Desmond picked up his spoon and took a bite. He nodded his head in delight. Kalyssa blushed and ducked her head.

After dinner before Kalyssa could pick up his plate he beat her to it. He even took hers and winked at her.
“I have to repay you for the free meal,” he said.
Once again she was stunned. She had never been treated this way before. Sure other men had volunteered to do stuff for her but none of them was the man she loved.
After everything was clean and tidy they settled on the couch. Kalyssa nestled in his arms, his hands behind his back as they watched a movie.
Or at least tried to.
Desmond couldn't focus. One minute he was rolling every strand of her hair between his fingers, the other he was trying to count her lashes.

Everything felt like a novel experience. Sure they had cuddles on the couch once but this was…different.
Kalyssa took a deep breath and exhaled, to him it felt as if she was melting into him. She fit so perfectly. He sighed.
Before he could stop himself, he said;
“I'm glad your ex-husband did what he did to you.”
Kalyssa paused.
She moved away from him quickly, her face guarded. “What did you say?”
