Chapter 111.
Chapter 111.
Adrian.
I don’t hesitate, I summon my strength and I vanish from the lycan’s grip. Another trick up our sleeves as vampires. We can vanish from sight. I appear behind him, oblivious to him. Then I grab his neck and snarl inside his ear. I don’t allow him the chance to struggle.
“I warned you not to hurt my wife. Now face the fucking consequences.” I sink my fangs inside his neck and spread my lethal venom inside him.
He writhes violently, beneath my fangs. I don’t stop at spreading my venom, I rip his neck open. If my venom doesn’t kill him fast enough then he would bleed out. And since my venom inhibits his healing powers, he would die soon.
I rush to Andria’s side, she’s barely breathing. Without wasting a single moment more, I lift her off the ground and teleport us back to the castle.
In a short time, we appear at the foyer of the castle.
“Help! Somebody help me, please!” I yell on top my voice, as I sink us to the ground.
I hold Andria tight, trying to shake her awake. She’s lying there, unmoving. I can’t even feel her pulse anymore. I cry out, calling her name, frantically.
“Andria…Andria…You can’t leave me. You can’t let me be alone. What am I to do without you…You have my heart…” I cry.
I hear footsteps as my staff surround me. I see Holt. One look at Andria and he gives me an apologetic look.
“Sir…this is bad…We can’t wait for the doctor even if we wanted to. The only option is for you to bite her…That’s the only way sir…” Holt’s words are like venom in my soul.
I open my eyes wide, shifting Andria from him. No…No…I can’t snatch her humanity from her. I can’t render her to be this creature, just like I was forced to be.
“No, Holt. Anything but that…” I cry, forcibly.
My eyes blur with tears, as I continue to watch her. Her neck has dried blood and she looks fucking pale. Her skin is already clammy. I cry inside her neck. The smell of her blood, wafts through my nostrils. I sob harshly.
“It’s the only way, Sir…” One of the female employees speaks.
I can’t tell who it is.
“What would you prefer, Sir, a lifetime without Lady Bran; the woman you love? Or her humanity given to her and you don’t see her ever again?” Holt presses.
I shut my eyes, banishing the voices, the murmurings around me. Everything fades. I listen to the sounds of the ocean far ahead. I listen to the sounds of the night. I listen to the faint pulse from Andria. Soft. Quiet. But it’s there. It beckons.
I hear two heart beats. Mine and hers, intertwined to form one heart. Two hearts beating as one. Andria has become a part of me and I a part of her. I see us running in the fields. I see us with children. I see laughter in her eyes, as she watches me with adoration. Complete love in her eyes.
I wouldn’t want anything more. I only want her happiness forever. I suddenly recall my words to her, nights ago, when she asked me to change her.
“Except It’s a matter of your life, I wouldn’t change you, Andria…”
Those words awere true.
“Forgive me Andria…” I lean in and kiss her pale lips.
Her skin is still warm. I turn her neck to the other side, pressing my face into her neck. Silently, I bare my fangs and sink them into her vein. Allowing my venom spread fast within her.
Andria.
Three days later…
A burning pain spreads through my entire body.
It’s like tiny fires, spreading inside me.
It’s like tiny needles.
A jolt seems to spark everything inside my body.
From my broken bones, to my nerves, to my muscles.
To my blood vessels.
My heart beats louder.
My senses heightened.
My eyes fly open. My heart beating loudly in my chest. I gasp, as I feel this sharp pain in my neck. When I touch it, I feel a bandage on my neck.
“Andria…You’re awake. Thank God.” I turn to see Adrian rushing towards me.
When I see him, my heart swells. He reaches and wraps me in an embrace.
“I don’t want to ever lose you again. I…don’t…” Adrian kisses me, crying repeatedly.
I kiss him as well. But my kisses are still too weak.
“What happened, Adrian?” I look at him, confused.
I suddenly recall the forest. Someone bit me. And then I was suddenly tossed away. Broken bones.
“How am I alive…I was broken to pieces by a beast, right…” I ask, tears falling uncontrollably from my eyes.
Adrian nods frantically, as he holds my face in his palms. He’s been crying. I don’t know for how long. His eyes are red rimmed. He’s being suffering.
“Jerome…Jerome was the beast…He bit you and…”
My face lights with recognition. “But how I’m I alive?” I ask, baffled.
He looks regretful, as he watches me.
“You recall…” He pauses for a second. He looks pained. “You know when I said if your life was at stake I would change you…”
I search his eyes and I gasp as realization hits me. I stare at him, speechless.
“It was either that, or I let you die…And fuck it if I was going to let myself lose you…I wouldn’t lose you for the world, Andria…I wouldn’t lose you for your humanity. I chose you.”
At his words, my heart softens. Tears flow down from my eyes knowing the torture he must have gone through to break his resolve. He chose me. I was more important than his pride.
“I choose you too, Adrian…” I chuckle, nervously. I’m a fucking vampire. “I would love you now and always.”
We both chuckle and I allow Adrian take my lips in a heated kiss.
The count who loved me.
The End?
