Chapter 107.
Chapter 107.
Adrian.
Saturday, 10th May. Two weeks later…
It’s being two weeks since that challenge with the Alpha lycan. Two weeks of agonizing training. I’ve got the best vampires my money can buy with me in our training ground at the outskirts of Bran. It’s where we go, when we have to prep up for serious battle.
“Again!” I call out loudly, as Cassius combats one of the vampires.
Their snarls and hisses, echo in the open air. Their strengths, breaking the very earth. Cassius pushes the vampire down, pinning him to the ground in a choke hold.
“You think the lycans will be kind to you all!” I thunder. “I want stamina! I want ferociousness! Where’s you fire!”
Cassius pushes off the vampire and is panting heavily. Watching me through furious eyes. He marches to me, trying to catch his breath. The other vampires are all in combat mode. Some are practicing with weapons. Others are practicing their endurance.
“You can’t push them further, Adrian. They’re trying.” Cassius, admonishes.
I ignore him and focus on one of the vampires, who’s got this female on a choke hold. She’s little and light on her feet. And the next we know, she maneuvers and has the guy pressed beneath her in no time. She delivers a kill, as she pins her fang against him.
“Good! Impressive!” I praise her.
She pants heavily as well, as she pulls away from the vampire she just pinned down. She offers him a hand to pull him up and he pushes it away. I laugh. Of course I would feel awful if I was bested by a woman in battle. Not like I wouldn’t mind. But it’s kinda odd.
“Did you see that?” I gesture in the direction of the female vampire, walking away. Cassius follows my gaze. “She’s resilient and that’s all we need now.” I turn my gaze to him. “Your problem is you’ve grown soft, because you’re scared Andria is in danger, if we can’t best the lycans.”
Cassius turns a soft gaze to me.
“How did you know?” He asks weakly.
I smile.
“You’re my best friend, Cassius and your thoughts are open, because of our mind link as a clan. So yes, I hear it. In case you forgot.” I give a light chuckle.
He's quiet.
“I know you love her, Cassius. But you should know I would never allow harm befall her. I love her too much to allow that.” I confess, sincerely.
“Then why don’t you change her, so we can have help from the other vampires. These guys, are only mercenaries. We need loyalty as well. Just like the lycans will have,” Cassius says worriedly.
“We will win, Cassius. Never fear.” I assure him.
He turns to me and I think he sees my hard resolve. He nods, easily and heads off to join the others.
My phone rings in my pocket, distracting me from my thoughts.
‘My Heart,’ flashes on the screen and I smile affectionately. I answer the call, without any hesitation.
“Hello, My Heart.”
Andria.
“Hello, My love.” I giggle as I hear Adrian’s love name for me.
He started calling me that, just a few days back. We were making love and he kept ringing that in my ears. And that was how it stuck. I like being his heart. I like owning it.
“How is the training?” I ask, kindly.
He grows quiet for a while and I can hear grunting sounds even in the background.
“Did you hear that? They’re practicing.” He informs me.
“I’m proud of you, Adrian. Somehow we will get through this.” I urge him quietly.
I feel bad that he has to suffer this situation, because he was trying to defend Bran. But I only wish the other vampires decided to help him. Rather they’re bent on following rules. I really hate all of them.
“My love. My professor has asked me to meet her at location here in Bran. So I just got there. She sent me a text that she wants to meet me to discuss my coursework.” I inform him as I climb out of the car, slamming the door.
“Did you take anyone with you? You know you shouldn’t be alone at this time.” I hear the worry in Adrian’s voice.
“I’m fine, Adrian. I drove and the place looks safe.” I smile, as I take steps up the walkway leading to the front door.
The house looks old fashioned. But it still has style. I look around and find only endless trees in sight.
“See, there’s even a door bell.” I tease.
“Andria…” Adrian cautions.
I giggle.
“Oh don’t spoil the fun. I’ve been cooped up in the castle because of that Jerome’s threat. Now I’m seeing outside. I needed the air.” I hear footsteps and then the door unlocks.
I hold my breath, waiting to see the face of my professor.
When the door opens, I pale in shock at the person who stands before me.
“Jerome Frankfurt…” I gasp, staring into Jerome’s mesmerizing golden eyes.
Something tingles inside me. Moving in gradual ripples. I’m rooted to the spot. My nerves, frozen. Every god damned nerve.
“Andria…Andria…What’s going on? Andria, speak to me.” Adrian repeatedly says.
But I can’t respond, because all my nerves are fried. I can only stare. I watch as Jerome closes the space between us and takes the phone from my grip and puts the phone on speaker.
He has this menacing grin that splits his face. My senses are heightened and I wish I can run. But I can’t. I’m paralysed. I can’t even blink. Tears burn my eyes, as the wind rapidly picks up.
“Hello, Adrian.” Jerome voice runs cold.
“Jerome?” Adrian bites.
“Yes. Who else would have called your beautiful slave wife here…”
“If you harm her…”
“Oh shut it. I wouldn’t. Yet. Meet me at the forest that borders both our towns, tonight. And come alone. No weapons. Nothing. The old fashioned way.”
