Chapter 106

Andria.

I gasp at Jerome’s demand. I'm disgusted at his looks on me. I turn my eyes away.

“Not on your life, lycan.” Adrian hisses.

I look at Adrian, proudly.

“Then we go to war, vampire. Tell your clan to prepare for war with my pack. You have two weeks to prepare. Two weeks.” Jerome growls and I sincerely see the face of a wolf emerge from his face, before it disappears again.

He throws one last look at me, before he storms out of the party with his men.

As soon as he leaves, I sag in relief. Adrian has his hands around me, immediately.

“Are you alright?” He asks, worriedly.

I nod and raise myself on tip toes to kiss him.

“I’m sorry about that, Andria…I never…”

“Shh…It’s okay.” I wrap my arms around him in an embrace.

My eyes fall on a crowd, which seems to have gathered when Jerome and his men were here. The crowd gazes at Adrian and I sympathetically. One of the vampires approaches.

“Adrian, I’m told Jerome Frankfurt, the Alpha lycan in Sibiu just challenged you to battle.”

“Yes, Evan.” Adrian answers the vampire. He pulls away from me. “It seems so. He has been elusive all this time. How come he surfaces now?” Adrian asks.

Evan shakes his head. “I don’t know. Apparently Denis’ death must have angered them.” Evan speculates.

“It’s not Denis’ death, Evan. This is about pride of a pack. To show their strength in numbers. It was never about Denis. Denis was an Alpha lycan they had banished themselves and he had roamed the neighboring communities for long. Hiding. And each time he was discovered he ran. Now that I took him down, someone comes to claim ownership. It isn’t about Denis.” Adrian tightly declares.

“You should have followed protocols. We would have sent a message to them respectfully, informing them of eliminating Denis…”

“To what end? You think it would have stopped there. They would have looked for a reason to fight us. Even if we had followed every due protocol.” Adrian retorts tightly.

He seems tensed. I press my palms to his shoulders.

“If it’s blood they want, blood they get. But they wouldn’t get my wife.” Adrian declares firmly, holding me protectively.

I feel less scared.

“Surely the vampires can come to your rescue, Adrian. I believe in you. I know you will defeat them.” I say, quietly.

Evan turns to me. The crowd around us murmurs. It’s like I’ve said something wrong.

“As long as your husband hasn’t done what we demanded, we cannot help him in this. He’s on his own.” Evan announces, apologetically.

I frown.

“What did you ask of him, which would make you abandon one of your own. You can’t tell me that…”

“He hasn’t told you?”Evan lifts his eyes to Adrian, who only stands there, silently. When Evan’s gaze returns to me, it’s resolute. “We’ve asked him to turn you into one of us. That, or we have you killed, according to our laws.”

“What?” I mutter, staggering backward.

Adrian turns to me, his eyes holding sadness.

“I couldn’t tell you, because it was mine to resolve.” He admits.

I shake my head, disbelievingly. He had such a huge problem and he had kept it away from me. Granted we just got closer days ago, but he could have still told me.

“You promised no more secrets…” I speak softly.

He lowers his head for a second and reaches for me, pulling me into him.

“I know…I was…Can we go home? This night is ruined already.” He offers a wan smile.

I shift my eyes to the others around us, who now stare at us with sympathy. I would rather leave this tensed atmosphere and return home. I nod quietly. Anywhere but here.

Adrian.

It’s 3am and I just left Andria on the bed to catch some sleep. We've made love twice since we returned, and I can’t imagine a better word for what we did.

Andria finally got me to say it right. She said it isn’t fucking. It’s making love. I love her own description better. It’s filled with reverence and memories.

I sigh heavily, sitting at the balcony, watching the night. I knew the look Evan gave me, when Andria pleaded for the vampires to help me. It was one of determination.

They are determined to ensure I get punished for doing a forbidden. And I'm too stubborn to bother about their damned punishment.

My only concern is Andria. She shouldn’t pay for my error. I was responsible for putting her in this mess in the first place. If I hadn’t abducted her, none of this would have happened. But she’s my best mistake. And I’m not changing it for the world.

“You’re not sleeping?”

I smile, not turning to look at who’s spoken. Her voice has become a part of me. Her breath, my drug. I turn to offer her my hand, she takes it and comes to sit in my lap.

“We don’t sleep. Ever.” I smile in her neck.

I kiss it, slowly. My palm slips into the V of my shirt, which she’s got on. She moans as I tweak her nipple.

“Oh Adrian…Turn me into a vampire, so they can help you. I don’t want that man hurting you. He looked dangerous.” She pleads.

I bring my lips to silence her words. She moans deeply into my mouth, as I kiss her. She tastes good. She smells good. I shift her, until she’s straddling me. I free my cock from my joggers and I sink it into her. Her heat, her wet pussy. She moans, as I bury myself to the hilt inside her.

“I wouldn’t lose your humanity for the world.” I shudder at the intense reaction I experience being in her. “Except It’s a matter of your life, I wouldn’t change you, Andria. I love you, Andria Trinidad. Forever.”

I make love to her again and again.
