Chapter 105
Chapter 105
Andria.
Saturday, April 26th. Three weeks later…
It’s been three weeks since I woke up in hospital. Three weeks since Adrian confessed his love to me. Three weeks since my life with Adrian changed for the better.
Since then, Adrian has changed towards me. There’s this new direction, which our relationship has taken. He’s now more attentive. He’s caring. I can’t go through the details at the moment, because if I do, I’ll suffer a pool of wetness in my thighs. And I currently wouldn’t want that, knowing Adrian and I are currently at a party. Thoughts of going naughty with him right now, is tempting. But I wouldn’t want that, knowing this party is important for Adrian.
He explains that these people are all vampires, who belong to the conclave. He’s being telling me so much about vampires and lycans and the pact between the three worlds. So much, which I never knew.
Once upon a time, there was a coexistence between all three worlds. But the lycans and vampires always fed on the humans and unable to take it, the humans rebelled.
War broke out and the humans were almost defeated. And then one of the human kings, proposed a pact between the three worlds. So elders were chosen among these worlds and they magically conjured rules that govern both worlds today. Any of the rules broken, was to cause a trial and imminent death if found unpardonable by the elders.
And that was the reason Adrian had found Anaya’s death unjust. She hadn’t been found guilty before any elders, rather his family had taken it upon themselves to judge her. They never followed due process. And killed her.
Adrian explained to me that Anaya was a Luna princess; from the lineage of lycan kings, who were devoted to the Luna goddess. Orphaned at a young age, she had been betrothed to the most powerful lycan family for the continuation of her family line. But she had followed her desires to be a singer and that was how she had fallen in love with Adrian.
“What are you thinking about?” Adrian’s voice whispers into my ear.
I lean into his voice.
“I’m thinking of how lucky I am to have you. These past few days, you’ve been very devoted to me.” I smile at him.
I can’t help but notice the way the vampires stare at me, as if I’m disgusting.
“You deserve my love, Andria. And I won’t hesitate to give it.” Adrian vows.
He sees the worried look on my eyes. “What’s wrong?” He asks, concerned.
I shake my head.
“It’s nothing, Adrian. It’s just that I can’t help the way they all stare at me with contempt.” I complain.
His posture stiffens as he looks around. I think he sees what I see. We’re at a hotel in Cluj and despite the party, the air is tensed.
“Ignore them.” Adrian urges me.
He pulls my hand and is about leading me away from the party, when a group of men come to stand before us. They’re equally dressed in elegant evening wear, like everyone. But it isn’t their outfit that stuns me. It’s the man in the middle that catches my attention.
Jerome Frankfurt.
“Adrian Trinidad, Lord Bran. Alpha vampire of Bran. We finally meet.” He coldly declares.
That handsome look of his. His captivating eyes. He shifts his eyes to me and we lock gazes. He arches a brow as his eyes light up with recognition.
“And you are?” Adrian asks, puzzled.
Jerome tears his eyes away from me and focuses on Adrian.
“I’m the one whose lycan you killed, weeks ago.” He announces. Adrian stiffens beside me. “I’m the Alpha lycan, Jerome Frankfurt. And I hereby challenge you for killing Denis, one of our own, without protocol."
The music plays in the background. But it fades. Jerome Frankfurt’s a lycan? The man, who approached me that day at a café was a lycan.
Adrian.
“Andria, go join the others.” I tightly instruct Andria, as she stands beside me.
I don’t want her to hear this.
“No Adrian. I must stay with you. I’m your wife and you can’t hide this from me anymore, remember?” She objects.
My gaze turns to her, as I curse under my breath. This is no time to play house. It’s important she’s kept absolutely safe from all this.
“Wife?” Jerome asks, disbelievingly. I turn my focus to him. He’s looking at Andria keenly. “So this is the husband you spoke of at the café in New York?” He asks her.
I push her behind me, protectively. My glare levelled on Jerome.
“I met him in a café, Adrian. I promise I had no idea who he was.” Andria explains, quietly behind me.
“It’s okay. You don’t owe him any explanations. It’s him that has explaining to do.” I level a hard gaze on the man. “You have come here to challenge me? Are you aware that Denis terrorized my community. If you had so valued him, why did you exile him from your pack, lycan?” I sneer.
Jerome inches closer.
“What we do with our own is none of your business. We do whatever we like with our kind. But you have no right to hurt our own. You do that and we demand retribution.” He menacingly declares.
I scowl. My blood boils with rage at the lycan’s audacity. They had thrown Denis out and had allowed him to prowl the streets. Causing harm to others. And now they demanded retribution.
“You have a problem with me, then take it up with the vampires’ conclave.” I throw at him.
He flicks a glance at Andria behind me. My blood runs cold at the look he gives her. I wish to plummet him with a punch or two. My inner monster growls at the insolence.
“I presume this is your slave, who has become your wife. Give her to us as our snack and we call it even.”
