176. The sun and the moon no longer cross paths

Alana

Days were passing, and Sedrik no longer looked for me. Maybe that was what he wanted, maybe he needed to divorce me and didn't know how to say it. It was sad that our relationship was deteriorating. I really thought we would be together forever, but even for us, it seemed like there was a deadline for happiness.

That day was Lily and Toby's wedding day. I didn't want to go to any wedding, I just didn't feel like it, especially when all of this was happening to me and my own marriage. But Toby and Lily were dear to me, so even though I didn't want to watch people get married, I had to go for them and the consideration they had for me.

I sat there watching their wedding with my daughter on my lap. Sedrik, as their alpha, was the one who performed their wedding. It was gratifying and beautiful to see the bride and groom happy, carrying out the wedding that would unite them, they were already mates, so the only thing missing was the wedding ritual so that they could stay connected forever.

Lily smiled at Toby, and he smiled back at her, and as the ritual took place, I couldn't help but remember my own wedding when I married Alpha Sedrik. I remembered that I was so nervous, so afraid that I was doing something wrong, that I was marrying someone who wasn't part of my people or what the future held for us, but I had grabbed my fiancé's hand and looked to him for support.

Elder Peninah was the one who performed my wedding with Sedrik, and just remembering that day, I already missed that woman who was so important to me in the first days I spent in that place. I hoped that, at that moment, she would be resting in the arms of the goddess.

For a moment, I saw Sedrik from the altar while performing the wedding of the bride and groom. I saw him lay his eyes on me. His look was heavy and full of meaning. I even gasped with that look, it was as if I knew he was also involved at that moment, remembering how our wedding had been and how good that day had been for both of us.

That day, neither he nor I could imagine that today we would be in this position of almost divorce. It was a lot to process, and sadness sat in my chest.

When the ritual was over and the wedding party had begun, people were drinking and eating, dancing to the music, and celebrating the wedding of that couple so loved by everyone. I was just intending to stay a little longer to honor the bride and groom, and then I would have to leave because the baby couldn't be exposed to such rowdy environments like that. I saw Sedrik approach me, and I swallowed hard. It had been a while since we spoke.

"Can we talk, please?" He asked, and I nodded.

"Of course. Why not?" I replied.

So he took me to a more private place, which was the balcony, where only the two of us were there, and I could talk in privacy.

He was staring the moon. "Do you remember the beautiful day the sun and moon mated?" He asked with a dreamy look. I was sure that he was thinking about our wedding's day, just like me. He looked at me now. “I heard that you are already packed to travel,” he commented, and I stated.

“I was just waiting for Toby and Lily's wedding to happen. You know how important those two are to me,” I replied, and he nodded, his eyes flicking quickly as if he were trying to control his emotions.

“Why did you bring her with you? I thought you agreed with me in hiding the child's gender,” he asked, pointing to the baby who was in my arms. Since she was so young, nobody could tell yet if she was a girl or a boy without knowing it at first.

I sighed. “I'm no longer aligned with nothing with you, Sedrik. But if you called me to talk about it, don't worry; your secret is well-kept with me; Nobody can't see that the child is a girl," I told him, finding it absurd that he had called me to talk to say he was upset that I brought my baby to that wedding party.

What was he thinking? That my daughter would only have to grow up inside the house and no one should look at her? Did she happen to have a contagious disease or something? I was so furious.

He seemed upset and approached me, speaking softly. “But I asked you not to expose the child, when you bring her to the wedding, it's a chance for people to conclude that she is actually a fucking girl,” he said softly, glancing around to see if no one was around.

My heart was shattering into a thousand pieces. I laughed bitterly. “Look at you, trying so hard to be a bad father and a terrible husband. Don't worry so much; Soon, my daughter and I are going to be far away from here so you can live in peace with your demons,” I said angrily, and then turned to leave.

But he held onto my elbow, not letting me go. “Wait,” he stammered. “Can I go to your quarters tonight? We need to talk… and try our plan again,” he said.

I pulled away from him in disgust. “How can you still ask for such a thing, Sedrik? Are you crazy or what?” That was so horrible. “There are no more plans, I don’t want to try anything else with you. Our story is over!” I was looking straight into his eyes as he said those profound words.

"No!" He denied it. “This story only ends when I want it to, I'm the alpha here, damn it. And from today onwards, I forbid you from walking with that creature in your arms in public. These are orders from your Alpha!” He ordered, using his Alpha voice, the same authority that made everyone in his domain tremble in fear when he used to speak to them.

But it didn't work with me, maybe he never tried to use it with me to see if it worked or not because that was the first time, but while his eyes turned red and his Alpha voice ordered and wanted to subdue me, I just looked at him. “Did I get mixed up with you all that much for you to think your little tricks would work on me? I'm not a wolf, Sedrik. I am a witch and always will be,” I told him, looking into his eyes. “Do you want to see how much you don’t have me under your control? Do you want to see?”

I quickly walked away from him and went to the platform where the bride and groom sat facing the guests. Sedrik tried to stop me, but I was faster than him, so I caught everyone's attention. “Please pay attention to me, all of you. I have something to talk about,” I told them, seeing everyone turn to look at me, curious to know what I had to say. “I gave birth and didn't have the opportunity to introduce you to my baby. I gave birth to a girl, all of you. My child is a girl and your Alpha's firstborn. She will be the one who rules after him, just as it should be!”

Everyone was present, their mouths open as the revelation caught them in shock. People began to murmur and complain, saying that they had never seen anything like that and that they were a cursed people. A small riot was forming there, with people angry and insulting the Alpha's masculinity, saying that he was a despicable being and was bringing shame to the pack.

At that moment, I looked at Sedrik, who was in the corner of the room, looking at me with regret as if I had just destroyed his world.
