Chapter 167. The birth of the alpha baby

Chapter 167. The birth of the alpha baby

Alana

"I'm here now, darling. Is the baby going to be born?” Sedrik asked with a breathless look.

He was doing his day job there with the other Wolves doing the routine things he had to do because there really was a lot to do in that pack, so he was always busy doing his own thing schedule, but recently he knew he should stay close, he knew he shouldn't travel or stop anywhere else that was miles away from me because he knew I was on almost ready and at any moment the baby could arrive.

“What do you think we are doing here? This is not a simulation!” I screamed in anger, but soon after, I screamed in pain because the contraction that was felt afterward was strong.

At that moment, I cursed him for getting me pregnant, and at the same time, I was grateful when he took my hands, holding me and giving me the support I needed. “Honey, I'm here. Everything will work out, you are strong as hell. This won’t bring you down,” he said, trying to support me.

“But it was you who made me pregnant, for the love of the goddess. It hurts a lot, I don’t want it anymore…” I cried, being a spoiled girl.

“But, honey, did you forget that you said you would give me many more sons and daughters and not just one?” he asked me, and I glared at him.

“Sedrik Moonwalker, take back what you said if you have a love for your life,” I threatened him, but then I threw my head back, screaming because of a new contraction. That nightmare seemed like it would never end.

“By the blessed goddess… Get it over her, Skylar, I can’t stand seeing her like this anymore,” Sedrik was practically shouting.

“Can you both fucking calm down?” Skylar asked as she went through the birthing process.

In fact, it was quite distressing for me because, even though I was dilated, the baby was very big, and I didn't want to have an enlargement alone. I had to exert a lot of force, and my husband was behind me.

He practically laid down on the bed behind me, helped me, and supported my body—my back in his body—by helping me push the baby out. In the end, he was very efficient and was there with me, watching everything. I even thought that he and putting on a show felt sick and even passed out because of all the crying, and that the idea of knowing that a creature was coming out of me was totally bewildering at this time.

But my husband didn't give a show, talking positively; he was there with me, enduring every moment of everything that was happening, he was watching and supporting me and almost giving birth to me.

And when the baby finally came out of me, Skylar held me in our arms. At that moment, my husband and I gave a sigh of relief. Although I was feeling weak as hell, at that moment he and I would go like a crazy couple, coming from happiness because now we had generated a life and have this life to protect, love, and care for until our last breath.

"Congratulations dear. You were brave and a warrior,” Sedrik congratulated me, kissing my sweaty forehead. “You are a mother now, Alana. I’m so fulfilled.”

“Thank you for making me smile, Sedrik. You are the reason I live,” I said to him, unable to contain my happiness. I was so happy to finally have this child in my arms that I had already loved so much even before he was born.

“Are you happy?” I asked my husband excitedly while I still had my baby in my hands.

“Of course I'm happy,” He replied. “I'm overjoyed, actually. I can’t wait for this kid to grow up and me and him to play there.” He was excited and looked forward to it. I smiled at him, seeing my husband's happiness at that moment. I was so happy that I was able to give him a child.

“Why don’t you guys look at the baby’s sex first?” Skylar asked us, and Sedrik and I looked at her.

"What?" The Alpha looked confused.

“She is a girl,” the healer said.

I widened my eyes a little, completely surprised. So when I opened the blanket covering my baby's tiny body, my husband and I could clearly see that our baby was a girl.

“A girl…?” I babbled.

"What does it mean?" Sedrik looked annoyed. “The lineage of alphas has remained incorruptible for hundreds of years. The first child is always an alpha boy…” he said, completely confused as he looked at the baby in my arms. “Why did you give birth to a girl, Alana?” He asked me.

I also looked a little scared and lost, not knowing how to respond. Sedrik was so excited that the baby in my belly was going to be a boy, and he spent the entire pregnancy talking about it and bragging about having an alpha son and all that stuff. Now that the baby was born, it wasn't a boy but a girl, so I could understand his shock at first.

He and I were already used to the idea that we would have a male child, so knowing that the child was a girl would, of course, create a shock. Even more so when there was that whole situation of Alpha leading the godmother and that our baby, when he grows up, would one day have to lead this just like his father, his grandfather, his great-grandfather, and the entire generation of Moonwalkers. Now, Sedrik was confused and didn't know how to react.

“I'm sorry, Mom and Dad, but we need to finish the birthing procedures,” Skylar said, interrupting our thoughts.

“Of course,” I nodded. “You can continue, please…” I told her.

So she and the other midwives continued with the labor, carrying my child, caring for her, and also taking care of me, but I saw Sedrik leave, still looking upset. I could tell how confused he was at that moment, so I wasn't mad at him for leaving me alone now, he needed to think about it.

“What do you think he’s going to do?” I asked my friend Skylar, fearful of what my husband would do and now knowing that the baby I gave birth to was not a boy but a girl.

Skylar shrugged as she made the bed for me. “I know this is all very confusing for him, but if he really loves this child, he will see that being a man or a woman doesn't make anything different. The child will always be an Alpha and will be able to rule these people, just as a male Alpha would,” she said.

I sighed. That was very big news. In the entire vast continent, there had never been a female Alpha leading a pack, men were dominant in the wolf community, but now there is a woman as leader... I couldn't even imagine how my daughter would be treated with this news.

I just looked at her, she was so beautiful… so angelic, such a cute baby… I just hoped that everything was good for her in this horrible world.
