Chapter 166. Fear of the future
Chapter 166. Fear of the future
Alana
To my happiness, Sedrik didn't stay long and showed up right when I needed him. I thought he would take longer, but apparently he really wanted to be present at the birth of his child, which was positive because that moment was really special for both of us.
We talked about this throughout the pregnancy. When it was just the two of us, we were tripping in and talking about it—about what our child's face would be like and how we would treat him, take care of him, and fill him with love.
If there was one thing that our child would never complain about, it was maternal and paternal affection, because my husband and I were willing to take action to love and care for this child as if it were part of us because, in truth, this child was part of us.
“Do you think he will have light hair like yours, or will it be dark like mine?” These were the types of questions he asked all the time when we were having lunch, the two of us talking about it, and him touching my belly and watching the baby move inside it.
“Um, my hair is magical, so I think it will be as platinum as me.” I had responded that time only by annoying him, because I loved seeing him all angry like that and making a sulking face.
Well, not really; it was absolute that our baby would have similar hair to the same of us because, after all, he would have which genes and wolf genes, so we are eager to know which of the two genes would be predominant for him since he would be a hybrid of both sides.
“That's cheating,” he said with an angry face, making me laugh.
“But deep down, you and I just want him to be happy no matter which side of dominance genes he will have; it doesn’t matter if he will be more of a witch than a wolf would have, nor does it matter to me if he doesn't want to go and align himself with this village and wants to take a different path from the one I'm thinking of.
For example, he may very well want to follow in his witches' footsteps. After all, there will be that witch flame inside him that one day will lead him to be called so that he can inhabit the world of witches too and participate on both sides. So I know that there is a great chance that our child will not want to liberate these people as I led, and that's ok; it's a risk that I am now because I married you.
In the first place, you and I didn't even know that we would be parents, so just because you and I managed to generate a child that has never been heard of like ours in the entire history of our vast continent, yes, they are a great reason to celebrate and be happy just for the fact that there will be a child among us.
It doesn't really matter if one day he wants to live with the wolves or go live with which people; it will just be something that you and I will have to deal with, won’t it?” he asked, wanting to be compassionate.
The truth is, I was also thinking a lot about that. Sedrik was the Alpha of a wolves' pack, and he couldn't forget the fact that he was destined to exist for a greater purpose and that he wasn't necessarily born just for nothing. For him, he was born with a mission on this earth: the mission to lead his people, to protect them and to live for them, although he was also a person who had feelings and also had the right to fall in love and create a family.
But his main objective was that he, as one of the few Alpha Wolves that exists today, was on a mission to generate an Alpha son who would command the next generation of wolves, so just for that reason alone, there was this great importance that Sedrik had on his back.
So I tried to see, considering that he had married a witch, and there is this whole issue that there had never been a hybrid on the whole vast continent since the world was made, so clearly he and I got married to the idea that there would be no children between us because it was not possible for a being of one species to procreate with a being of another species; this had never happened.
What is happening between me and my husband now is something totally out of the curve, out of reality; this could only be explained as the designs of the gods. But there I was, all pregnant, with a giant belly ready to give birth. A being was inside me, and he had been communicating with me for some time in thought, not with words because he still didn't understand what words were like.
Talking through the magic. I could feel the love and the good things this child conveyed to me. It was such an incredible feeling; he was sad when I was sad, and he was happy when I was also happy; he completely mirrored all my emotions, and it was stunning. I felt like that life was inside me; imitating me and wanting to learn from me would be superintelligent and a prodigy, although inside my belly I could realize that the feats he could do out here were literally the most astounding thing I had ever seen in my entire life.
But there was a very important point that he also, like his father and I, were born for a purpose given by our people, but thirdly, we must make our own decisions, and we did what our heart told us, so we never banned his father though, and I wouldn't ban for him to follow me with his life and do what his heart wanted him to do, that is, if one day this baby becomes an adult man and prefers to go live among wizards, and that is, he would have this wizard side, my husband and I we wouldn't have been able to prohibit him from being there, we just had to make sure we wanted him to be there.
Everything worked out in his life so he could find his own way, and considering that my husband was the Alpha of his people and there was this whole issue of generation to generation, that scared me a little, knowing that our child wouldn't be completely a target but rather an Alpha and also a witch. I looked at Sedrik now, happy just for the fact that he was here with me.
“If that's the case, then prepare yourself, my love, because I'm going to fill you with sons and daughters, and in the midst of all this, I'm absolutely certain that one of them will be your successor,” I told him.
