Chapter 179

Chapter 179
Epilogue

Johnny

It’s been 2 years since our second marriage which makes John Jnr one and a half years old.  It’s been the best year and a half of our lives.  Helen is the perfect mother and John Jnr the perfect baby.  He slept through the night at 6 months we know we are very lucky.  The business is thriving and the stock prices is even higher than it was when John Snr was running the business all and all we have nothing to complain about.  It’s our first Christmas with John Jnr and the excitement is running high in the house.  John Snr and Eva are still together but according to them they are still just friends, I think both of them are way to scared to make any commitments.  It appears that Eva also had a horrible ordeal with her ex-husband so the two of them are not in a hurry but she’s taken the role of grandmother to John Jnr.  Helen and I decided to name our baby after her father because he had such a rough time with Mia and Antoinette, we wanted something to lift his spirits and believe me John Jnr does just that, obviously I would have like to name my first son after my father but it seems like Helen and I will have enough children to give them everyone’s names and a few more.  Needless to say, Helen is pregnant again, we decided while we are in it, we should go for the next one we don’t want them to be to far apart, we want them to be friends.

I was sitting in the living room next to the Christmas tree watching the snow fall with a glass of eggnog in my hand.  When Helen and John Jnr came walking into the living room, when John Jnr saw me, he started to run, but it was more than a wobble, he just started walking and after that he did the wobble running thing but it’s like he was in a rush all the time “Dada” he said as he reached me.  “Hi big boy what are you and mom up to.”  He showed me what he had in his hand “Oh you baking cookies?”  I asked tinkling him.  He laughed which always put a smile on my face.  “Let’s just say he ate more cookie dough than actually cookies.”  Helen said smiling at me.  She came and sat next to me, I held her leg and asked “Did you ever thought we will be here a few years ago?”  “Oh hell no.”  She said but John Jnr gave her a look, hell was a bad word “Sorry boy.”  Helen said.  He laughed jumped off my lap and went to play with the train that was going around the Christmas tree. “I would never have dreamed of this life Johnny I was so afraid of commitment, I was so afraid you would leave me and then all the things that happened afterwards, I don’t want to jinx us but I don’t think anything can ripped us apart not after everything we have been through this far in our lives together.”  “Nothing will ever take me away from you.”  I told her.  “Not from you or our babies.”  I repeated myself.  “I love you Johnny thank you for this live you gave me.”  “I love you more babe.”

The door bell rang which made John Jnr jumped up and run to the front door, he couldn’t open it yet so he had to wait for me.  I didn’t want Helen on her feet so much and she was already in the kitchen with chef preparing our Christmas eve dinner.  When I open the door to John Snr and Eva it was like I didn’t exist he grabbed John Jnr and started kissing him, John Jnr could say dada, mama, papa and nana so that was what he said over and over “Papa Papa”  so excited to see him and then his eyes caught Eva and he threw his arms out to her “Nana”  She took him from John and gave him all the kisses a Grandmother would do, when she put him down he grabbed her hand and took her to the kitchen wanting to show her the cookies he baked with his mom.  “Hi John” I said eventually reminding him of my presence. “Oh Johnny I’m so sorry, how are you?”  “Good thank you and you?”  “Good how’s my daughter?”  Helen walked towards us “She’s just fine.”  “And my other grandchild?”  He asked “Still very safely in her mothers’ belly.”  Yes, we are having a baby girl, Helen and I was just too impatient to wait for a reveal party or any of that other stuff, as soon as the doctor could see we wanted to know.  “Shall we go through to the dinning room?”  Helen asked.  “Can we wait a few minutes?”  I asked Helen “Why my dad and Eva are here.”  “I know but I invited more guest.”  “Who? You didn’t tell me. Does chef know?”  “Yes, off course he does. And it is a surprise that is why I didn’t tell you.”  And just on time the door bell rang.  “I think you should get it.”  I told Helen.  She looked at me then she walked to the front door when she opened, I could hear Romeo, Jenn and Jenny scream “Surprise.” “Oh my God.”  Helen screamed.  I grabbed her from the back.  “Nice surprise?”  I asked her “The best.”  “Come in you, guys.”  We stepped out of the way, letting them in.  Jenny was 3 now a bit shy at the beginning holding on to her mom’s hand and didn’t want to let go.  Eventually Helen could get her to come to her and give her a hug but she wasn’t so sure about me.  “You just in time for dinner.”  Helen said.  “Let’s go through.”  John Jnr was so excited to have a friend he immediately ran to her and wanted to play but Jenn and Helen had to tell them it was dinner time first.

We all sat around the table, me at the head looking at my guest thinking how lucky I was to have met Romeo he was such a nice guy and always willing to help no matter what or what the cost then I looked at Helen and Jenn they had such a good relationship it was amazing how good friends they became in such a stressful time in our lives and yet again I was reminded how blessed we were to have met these people and to have Helen’s father and Eva in our lives.  We were truly blessed.  It wasn’t easy to get to this point but we did and now everything was all worth it.
