Johnny
It was the day of the sentencing for Mia and Antoinette, I didn’t really want to be here but I wanted to know first hand how long they will be out of our lives, so after I appointed a new COO for the company, I went to the court house. I was surprised to see John also there. “Hi John.” “Johnny where’s Helen.” “She didn’t want to come.” “I think that’s better.” The judge came in and we all stood up. Geoff gave me a look with a smile in his eyes, clearly the sentencing was going to be good, but then again what is good for him and might be two different things. Good for me is both getting the death penalty but that won’t happen, there crime wasn’t severe enough and I don’t even know if the death penalty is legal in New York. The jury came in and a piece of paper was given to the judge which he opened extremely slow, or it was just me that wanted things to go a bit faster. “Will the defendants please rise?” Both Mia and Antoinette got up. “Mia Johnsons the jury finds you guilty of Attempted Murder.” It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. “You are sentenced to 25 years in prison with no chance of parole.” “What?” Mia screamed. “Silence in my court.” The judge told her. “Antoinette Johnson the jury founds you guilty of conspiracy to commit Murder, Money laundering and stealing of companies money you are sentence to 40 years in prison for the charge of conspiracy to commit murder with a chance of parole after 25 years and you are sentence to 20 years for the money laundering and stealing of companies money which means you are sentence to 60 years in prison.” Antoinette started crying and when I looked at John, he also had tears in his eyes. She might not be his daughter but he clearly felt for her. I on the other hand was happy with the sentences they are out of our lives for good, Antoinette may die in prison and Mia will most definitely. I looked to John and gave him my condolences because it is still his wife and child “I’m sorry John.” He wiped away the tears and said “Unfortunately they deserve the punishment.” John got up and we both left.
“So, you taking that trip now?” I asked John “When are you guys moving into your new house? Changing the subject again. “Next month.” “When you’re in the new house and I’m sure Helen is doing better I’ll go on that trip.” “Okay John, you want to come back to work while you wait?” First there was a look of excitement in his eyes and then it was gone. “No Johnny I gave the company to you and Helen to run I’m stepping back.” “You sure, I’m sure I can find you something to do?” “I’m sure you would but I’m good thank you for offering Johnny but I’m really good.” “Okay just know the doors are always open to you.” “Thanks, I will.” John left and I went back to the office, I wanted to call Helen and tell her about the sentences but I wasn’t sure if it will change her good mood so I rather left her to do her shopping for the new house.
Helen
I was a nervous wreck my mother and sister are being sentence today and I was so scared they are getting out of jail. I don’t know why but that was all I could think about. I was in a happy mood this morning before Johnny left but as the day past the more nervous, I got. I took Damon to do shopping for the new house but it just didn’t feel the same as yesterday so I just bought small stuff I can’t make big decision like buying a dinning room table with chairs or coaches for the living room in the head space I was in. So, I asked Damon to take me to the office, keeping busy with physical brain work will help me calm down. I called Sonja and asked her if she would stand in for me when I’m not at the office, like when we move in which means I’ll be at home and won’t be able to work because my study won’t be up and running yet. She excepted off course with a huge smile, so while Johnny was at court I trained Sonja in what it is I need her to do. I was just about to take a break when Johnny walked through the doors. “Helen?” He asked surprised to see me. “Yes Johnny?” I could feel a panic attack approaching and Johnny could see it in my whole body. “Come to my office.” I told Sonja to take a break and I walked to Johnny’s office. The first thing he did was close the door and take me in his arms. “Babe just breath, just breath.” He knew me so well. While he was holding me, I started to breath. “In and out” He said over and over “In and out” I could feel myself starting to calm and my body was calming as well, that is when Johnny let go of me and kissed me on the lips. When I pulled away, I asked him “And?” He didn’t even asked what I wanted he knew exactly what I was asking. “Your mom was sentenced to 25 years in prison with no chance of parole and your sister was sentenced to 40 years for the conspiracy to commit murder and 20 years for the money laundering and stealing of company money she is only eligible to apply for parole after 25 years. I moved to the nearest chair; I couldn’t believe it. “So, this is finally over?” I asked Johnny “Yes babe this is finally over, your mother won’t ever get out of prison and your sister let’s just say if she makes it, she will be very very old.” I threw my arms around his neck because he was sitting on his knees in front of me. “Thank God” I said as I held him around the neck hugging him. “This nightmare is finally over.”
