Chapter 64 Chapter Sixty-Four

Chapter 64 Chapter Sixty-Four
“D- Dad, wh- what are you doing here?” I ask, stuttering a little.

He looks up at me and smiles. “I came to see you sweetheart. I wanted to be here yesterday for the ceremony, but they wouldn’t let me out. I am so sorry I missed it.”

I smile, walking over to him. “It’s okay Dad. I am so glad you are here now. I missed you so much.” I say, wrapping him in a tight hug.

He wraps his arms tight around me. “I missed you too sweetie, more than you know. How did the ceremony go?” He asks, when I reluctantly pull away from him.

“It went g-.” I start to say good, but Dad cuts me off.

“What the hell is that on your shoulder?” He asks, practically growling at me.

My eyes go wide and my heart starts pounding a million miles an hour. “I- it’s a mark. It's my mark. My mate marked me.”

Dad’s eyes go dark with anger. “You are to young to have a mate, you won’t even be able to sense your mate for three more years!” He yells, making me flinch. I hate when he yells at me. “Who the fuck put that mark on you? I am going to fucking kill him?” He yells, smacking the table. I jump again, and Malakai comes to my rescue.

“Tiberius, calm down.” Malakai says, calmly.

"Don't you fucking dare tell me to calm down. You let someone mark my daughter, knowing damn well if and when she finds her real mate they won't want her now." Dad screams.

What he is saying is true, but I don't like when my dad yells. I also don't like that he is getting so worked up over this. Stress is not good for him. I'm sure getting your blood pressure up real high isn't good either.

"Who marked you?" He asks, through clenched teeth, looking at me.

I glance at Malakai, I don't know what to do. I didn't want my dad to find out like this. Malakai gives me a subtle nod and before I can answer him Dad growls. "I'm not going to ask you again Leilani."

I take a deep breath. This won't be good. "I will tell you dad, but I need you to calm down. It's not good for you to get worked up like this." I whisper.

"Tell me now." He yells, clenching his fists so tight his knuckles turn white."

I jump and Malakai nods his head. "Malakai marked me." I whisper in a voice so low that if we weren't werewolves he probably wouldn't be able to hear me.

My dad's eyes snap to Malakai so fast I'm surprised he can even see straight. Dad growls and jumps up from the table, heading straight for Malakai. "Dad, no!" I scream, right as his fist makes contact with Malakai's jaw. There is a sickening cracking sound and before I can do anything Dad has punched him three more times.

I stand there, shocked. Not sure what to do. I have never seen my dad this mad before, especially not at Malakai. They are best friends, they never fight. When I finally snap out of my shocked state, I rush over to my dad and Malakai. "Dad, stop!" I scream, grabbing his arm. "Malakai is my mate!" I yell, trying to stop him from hitting Malakai.

Malakai isn't even trying to fight back, probably because my dad is sick. He doesn't want to hurt him, but he can't just stand there. I feel myself getting upset. Not angry, just protective. I don't like seeing my mate getting hurt, it's like I can feel every punch my dad throws.

I try one more time to stop my dad, but he is so mad he doesn't even hear me. I let myself change. My gifts take over and I take a step away from there. "I said stop now!" I growl, in a deep intimidating tone that I don't even recognize. Apparently my dad doesn't either because he stops mid punch, turning to look at me.

His eyes go wide and he drops his hand. "Leilani?" He asks, hesitantly.

"Step away from my mate!" I growl.

Dad takes a step back and I walk over to Malakai, looking at his jaw. "Are you okay?" I ask through our link and he smiles.

"I'm okay baby." He says through our link and I turn to face my dad, putting myself between the two of them.

"Leilani? W-what is going on?" My dad asks. "Your eyes are- they are red."

I take a few deep breaths and let myself change back to normal. "I am special Dad." I whisper, stepping closer to him.

My dad takes a step back away from me and it feels like I just got stabbed in the heart. My dad is scared of me, he is afraid of his own daughter. What will he think when he finds out about mom?

"Dad." I whisper. "I'm not going to hurt you."

"What is going on? What's wrong with you?" He asks, looking between me and Malakai. What's wrong with me? Another stab straight to the heart.

"There is nothing wrong with her Tiberius. She is special, just like she said." Malakai answers for me.

"What do you mean special?" He asks.

"Dad, I am a Legacy Wolf." I whisper.

He narrows his eyes at me, shaking his head in disbelief. "That's not possible Leilani. They haven't been around for hundreds of years and even if they were still around, it has to be passed down through a parent it doesn't just appear one day."

"I know. Mom was a Legacy Wolf too." I whisper.

Dad shakes his head, letting out a humorless laugh. "She was my mate, don't you think that is something I would know about my own mate?"

"It's true Tiberius. She wrote about it in her letter to Leilani." Malakai says.

Dad looks between the two of us, still shaking his head. "It's just not possible. She would have told me."

"She wanted to tell you dad, but she was sc
ared. Just read the letter. I will go get it and you can read it." I say.
