Chapter 42 Chapter Forty-Two
We spend the whole day training, barely stopping to eat. I lose control of my temper or my second personality or whatever it is several times, hurting Malakai. I hate hurting him and I hate it even more that I can't control it.
That night we take another bath to relax and that pretty much becomes our routine. We spend the week doing hand to hand combat training. By the end of the week I am so sore I can barely move and pissed off to no end at myself.
I still don't know how to control my gifts or powers or whatever we're calling it. Malakai keeps saying I need to be patient but I'm getting more irritated by the day. The only thing keeping me sane is the nightly baths with Malakai.
Malakai must have been just as exhausted as me, because we end up sleeping in. Not even waking up until about nine in the morning. "Good morning baby." Malakai says when I flip over, coming face to face with him.
I groan, my muscles still aching from the past weeks training. "Good morning." I say, closing my eyes. It's to damn bright in here. "What time is it? I ask, knowing it's probably way past time to get up and get started.
Malakai stretches an arm out to the nightstand. He grabs his phone and checks the time. "It's nine fifteen baby."
"Ughhh, no." I say throwing a hand over my eyes.
Malakai laughs. "Come on baby, let's go get something to eat. We have more training to do."
Oh God, more training. I think he might be trying to kill me, like for real. I have never been this sore in my whole entire life. Between the training and the awful protein shakes I'm starting to think he hates me.
"We can take the day off!" I say, giving him a hopeful smile.
Malakai gives me a quick kiss on the lips. "Nice try baby. Don't worry we are done with the hand to hand combat training."
My eyes widen with excitement and shock. "Really? Are you sure I'm good enough?"
Malakai smiles. "I think you are very capable of defending yourself, but if you want to do more combat training, we can."
"No." I pretty much shout and Malakai laughs hard.
"I didn't think so baby." Malakai smiles at me. "Let's go get some breakfast. We are doing our territory border patrol today. You need to know where our pack lines are, and you need to learn our weakest border points. You will also probably meet some of the pack warriors that pretty much stay on patrol."
I nod my head, pack territory lines are super important. There are always fights and attacks on territory lines. Other pack alphas are always trying to steal land from other packs. My father was never one of those pack leaders. He isn't greedy, he just always protected what we have. I want to be like my father, I don't want to be greedy and cause blood shed for no reason.
"I'm ready to learn more about our territory lines." I say looking at Malakai. I know the basics of where our territory begins and ends, but I don't know our weakest points or where we are most likely to be attacked from.
"Good, I think you will enjoy today Angel."
I hope he's right. We get out of bed and get dressed real quick. Malakai has Nova cook omelettes and a side of bacon, no nasty protein shakes this morning.
We walk outside and I look at Malakai. "Should we shift or are we going to stay in human form?"
Malakai smiles. "Let's shift baby it will be nice to run in wolf form for a while."
I nod my head excited. That does sound nice. Malakai strips down right on the front porch, not a care in the world. I can't wait until I feel that comfortable being naked. I will have to get used it one day, but for now I turn around and strip down. Not that he hasn't seen me naked several times now.
I turn back around give Malakai a soft smile and leap off the porch shifting in mid air before landing on all fours. Malakai does the same landing only a couple of feet away from me. I will never get tired of looking at him in human or wolf form. He is so beautiful either way.
Malakai mind links with me. "Let's run the border baby, I will stop when we get to the places you need to know about."
"Okay Malakai, I'll race you!" I say hi if him a soft growl.
Malakai playfully growls back and I take off running as fast as I can. My fur blowing in the wind. I hear Malakai's paws pounding the ground behind me and my heart beat speeds up. I know he's right behind me, but I won't risk turning around to look.
I keep running, pushing myself harder and harder. "Careful baby girl I'm right behind you." Malakai says through our link, growling again and I yelp with excitement. I don't want him to beat me, especially since I'm the one that challenged him to this race to begin with.
I feel Malakai nip my back thigh and I growl. He is literally right on my heels. I try to run faster, I try to push myself harder but it's no use. Malakai nips me again and then I feel myself tumble to the ground.
Malakai tackles me, making me roll across the ground, dirt and leaves tangle in my fur and I growl. This time it isn't playful this time it's a threatening growl. Malakai growls back, pinning me to the ground with his paws.
"Get off me Malakai." I growl through our mind link.
Malakai growls. "Make me Angel."
I struggle under him, thrashing around trying to break myself free from his hold. Malakai chuckles through our mind link. "You will have to try harder than that baby."
I growl loudly, getting more angry by the second and that's when I feel it. The subtle change.
