Snatching her up in my arms I spin her around a couple times making her squeal excitedly. I release my grip a little to let her slide down my body putting her face to face with me. The sparkle in her eyes is back, and I will never do anything to lose it again. She leans in to kiss me softly.
“Okay. That’s gross.” Lucas says with disgust. Making me and Leilani laugh. She motions for me to put her down, so I gently set her feet back on the floor. Leilani runs over to Lucas hugging him tightly. “Thank you.” She whispers.
Lucas pats her back. “You’re welcome honey. I am going to leave you guys to talk.” Lucas waves at me and heads downstairs. George wishes him a good night as he opens the door to let him out.

Leilani's POV-
“Dad when are you coming home it’s been six weeks?” I ask impatiently. “And where are you? You sound like you’re in a tunnel.”
My dad sighs through the phone, and I can imagine him pinching the bridge of his nose. “Mija, Hopefully I will be home soon…I..” The phone cuts out and I let out an irritated sigh.
“Dad, dad, are you still there? Hello?” The phone beeps and I know he’s gone.
“Ugghhhh.” Dad has never been gone this long, especially not on a business trip. He has never missed a holiday. Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day; it’s not going to be the same without him. I love having Malakai here with me, but I do miss my dad’s good morning hugs.
Malakai rubs my back gently from his seat next to mine at the dining room table. “I know you miss your dad angel. Hopefully he will be home soon.”
“I hope so, he’s never been gone for a holiday. No matter what holiday it is.” I say frowning.
