Chapter 18 Chapter Eighteen
Jumping out of bed I run down the hall. Why is Leilani laughing at two in the morning? Her bedroom door is cracked open far enough for me to see her and Lucas sitting cross-legged on the bed across from each other. They whisper to each other than giggle.
I listen a little closer Leilani whispers “never have I ever kissed a girl.”
Lucas leans in and whispers “me either.” They both laugh hysterically. A senior in high school and a football star that has never kissed a girl, that’s odd.
Leilani taps her chin as if she is thinking hard about what to say next “Never have I ever had sex.” She looks at Lucas expectantly, but he remains silent. “Oh my god. You’ve had sex?” She asks with wide eyes, as she slaps his arm.
Lucas turns bright red. “I mean yeah.”
“Wait so you have never kissed a girl, but you had sex with one?” Leilani asks in shock.
“No silly. Guys have sex too.” Lucas says smirking.
Leilani blushes. “Duh. That was stupid.” She says looking embarrassed. They both laugh again.
Lucas is gay. That explains why she wasn’t kissing him at the party. Why didn’t she just tell me he was gay, then I wouldn’t have tried to murder him. I knock once before opening the door further. They both go silent.
Leilani glares at me, Lucas smiles. “Sorry I didn’t mean to ruin your fun. Leilani did you call your father earlier?” She ignores me.
“Lucas may I speak with you in the hallway for a moment.” He glances at Leilani but follows me into the hallway. “Thank you for getting her to eat and smile again.”
He nods his head “she’s my best friend, I would do anything for her.”
“Me too.” I mumble.
Lucas takes a deep breath. “I probably shouldn’t be telling you this, but don’t give up on her, okay? She says she hates you, but she doesn’t. Leilani is just feeling insecure about her appearance and lack of experience. She told me what happened at the party, and honestly, I would be insecure too. Especially if I was in love with someone but found that guy with a different more experienced person later that same night.”
I look down at my feet as I’m filled with shame for what I did all over again. “How do you know she doesn’t hate me?” I ask feeling insecure myself.
“She mumbles your name in her sleep, and she keeps trying to feel me up. It’s cute and all for you guys but I keep having to hold her hands in place until she flips over away from me.” Lucas looks disgusted as he shakes his head.
Laughing I say, “I have to hold her hands too.”
Lucas bites his lip, “Can I ask a personal question?”
I narrow my eyes at him. “You can ask, but whether I answer or not is a different story.”
“Okay.” He pauses and bites his lip again. “Why haven’t you had sex with her? From the way she talks she is more than willing, and I know she’s your mate. She explained the whole situation about shifting two years ago and what not. Not the point though. The legal age of consent is eighteen, so I just don’t understand why you haven’t done anything but kiss her and neither does she. Which is one of the main reasons it hurt her so bad to see you groping a half-naked woman.”
I sigh. “She is young, and I just want to make sure I am really what she wants. Once I have her in that way, there will be no going back. Just kissing her is killing me, trust me it is I just don’t want to hurt her.”
“Then why did you hurt her?” Lucas snaps.
“It just happened. I went up to my room in hopes Leilani would follow me. I wanted to give her a kiss at midnight, but I couldn’t do that in front of her dad and all the pack members. Amara showed up and threw herself on me literally. Within seconds she was half naked and grinding against me. I was trying to push her away without physically hurting her, I would never hit a woman. I wish I had though. If I would have pushed Amara off me or onto the ground, I wouldn’t have lost Leilani. By the time Leilani had walked into the room Amara was already kissing me, it looked like I was pulling her closer but really, I was trying to push her away. Leilani is the only woman I ever want to kiss or touch or anything. Ever since our first kiss she is all I can think about. I want her in every way possible, but I try to control myself around her. I just want Leilani back.” My eyes fill with tears, I miss Leilani so much and it’s barely been a day.
Lucas smiles in an overly happy way. “Why are you smiling like that?” I ask confused.
He points behind me. I turn around feeling even more confused. Leilani is standing in the doorway. I was so caught up in talking to Lucas I didn’t even notice she was listening. Lucas pushes me towards Leilani. For the first time since this whole mess started Leilani doesn’t glare at me or cry. She just stares at the floor as I walk closer to her.
“How much of that did you hear?” I ask quietly.
Leilani shrugs her shoulders. “All of it.” She mumbles.
“I meant everything I said, and I swear I never meant to hurt you. Leilani, I love you, and I want you to be mine.”
She doesn’t say anything. I reach out and grab both her hands in mine. “Leilani, if you give me another chance, I will never hurt you again. I will spend the rest of my life making you happy and making it up to you.”
“Give him another chance Leilani.” Lucas says eagerly from behind us.
Leilani glares at him, then looks at me for the first time. “Give me a chance please.” I beg.
“Fine, but it’s the only chance you are ever going to get so make it count.” Leilani says sternly.
