Chapter 84 Her

Chapter 84 Her
Daylan's POV

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the lounge floor as I sat on the sofa, reviewing some documents for the upcoming project. It had been a productive day, and I was looking forward to a quiet evening with Brie. She had settled into her new role at Tabitha's company remarkably well, and I was immensely proud of her.

A knock at the door interrupted my thoughts. I frowned, not expecting anyone. I stood up and walked over to the door, and opened it. My heart sank when I saw who was standing there.

"Abby," I said, my voice cold. "What are you doing here?"

She looked up at me with wide, pleading eyes, her expression desperate. "Daylan, please, I need to talk to you."

I stepped back, my body tense. "There is nothing to talk about. You shouldn't be here."

Ignoring my words, she pushed her way inside. "Please, just hear me out."

I closed the door, not wanting to cause a scene in the hallway. "You have five minutes," I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

Abby looked around the apartment, her eyes lingering on the photos of Brie and me. She turned back to me, her face a mask of anguish. "I miss you. I made a mistake, and I'm so sorry. Can't we just go back to how things were?"

I shook my head, feeling a surge of anger. "Abby, you know that is not possible. I left the hospital because of you. You manipulated and hurt people to get what you wanted. There is no going back from that."

Tears welled up in her eyes, and she took a step closer. "I know I was wrong, but I have changed. I can be better. Just give me another chance."

She reached out to touch my arm, but I grabbed her wrists, holding them firmly. "Stop. This isn't going to happen. You need to move on with your life and stay away from me and Brie." I hissed.

She struggled against my grip, her desperation turning to anger. "You think you can just replace me with her? She is not right for you. She can't handle your life, your work. I can."

I released her wrists, taking a step back. "You are wrong. Brie is everything I need and more. And if you can't accept that, then you need to leave."

Her face twisted in rage, and she lunged at me, trying to kiss me. I pushed her away, my patience wearing thin. "Enough, Abby. If you come near us again, I will file a restraining order."

She stared at me, her chest heaving with emotion. "You can't do this to me. You can't just throw me away." she pleaded. She was not serious at all. Her behavior shows it.

"I already have," I said, my voice firm. "Now get out."

Just then, the door opened, and Brie walked in. Her eyes widened in shock as she saw us standing there, Abby's face red with fury and my hands still raised defensively.

"Brie," I started, but she was already backing away, her expression hurt and confused.

Abby seized the moment, turning to Brie with a malicious smile. "Oh, look who is here. Did you know Daylan and I were having a little reunion?"

Brie's eyes darted between us, her face pale. "What is going on?"

I stepped towards her, trying to explain. "Brie, it's not what it looks like. Abby showed up uninvited. She was just leaving."

Abby laughed, a harsh sound that grated on my nerves. "Leaving? I was just getting started."

Brie's eyes filled with tears, and she turned to leave. "I can't deal with this right now."

"Wait," I called after her, but she was already gone, the door slamming behind her.

I turned back to Abby, my anger boiling over. "You need to leave now. You have done enough damage."

She smirked, clearly pleased with herself. "I will go, but this isn't over. You and Brie will never be happy together."

"Get out," I said, my voice low and dangerous.

With a little bit of hurt in her expression, she finally left, and I sank onto the sofa, my head in my hands. I had to find Brie and make things right. But first, I need to calm down and think about what to say.

After a few moments, I grabbed my phone and called Brie. It rang and rang, but she didn't pick up. I sent her a text, hoping she would read it.

Me: Please come back. We need to talk. I love you, and I can explain everything.

I put the phone down on the coffee table, my mind racing. I couldn't let Abby ruin everything. Brie needed to know the truth, and I had to find a way to make her understand.

A knock at the door interrupted my thoughts once again. I stood up, dreading who it might be this time. When I opened the door, it was Rick.

"Dad, we need to talk," he said, his expression serious. My heart raced even more with whatever he might say next.

I stepped aside, letting him in. "What is it?"

He looked around the apartment, clearly noting the tension in the air. "I saw Brie leave in a hurry. What happened?"

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Abby showed up. She caused a scene, and Brie walked in on it. Now she won't answer my calls."

Rick shook his head, his expression grim. "Abby is trouble. You need to deal with her once and for all."

"I know," I said, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on me. "But right now, I need to find Brie and explain what happened."

"Do you know where she might have gone?" he asked.

I thought for a moment, then nodded. "She might have gone to the park. It's not too far from here as you know."

Rick clapped me on the shoulder. "Then let's go find her. She needs to hear the truth from you."

We left the apartment and headed to the park, my mind racing with all the things I needed to say to her. When we arrived, I spotted her sitting on a bench, her face buried in her hands.

I approached her slowly, not wanting to startle her. "Brie?"

She looked up, her eyes red from crying. "Daylan, I don't know what to think. Why was Abby there?"

I sat down beside her, taking her hand in mine, the hurt in her eyes, the tears made my heart ache. "She showed up uninvited. She was trying to cause trouble, but I told her to leave. I don't want anything to do with her."

She looked away, her expression pained. "It just felt like she was still a part of your life, and I don't want to compete with that."

"You don't have to," I said, squeezing her hand. "Abby is in the past. You are my present and my future. I love you. Please believe that."

She turned back to me, her eyes searching mine, wiping her tears away with the back of her free hand. "I want to believe you. But it's hard when she is constantly trying to come between us."

"I know," I said, my voice gentle. "And I'm going to make sure she stays away from us. I will file that restraining order if I have to. But please don't let her ruin what we have."

She nodded slowly, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Okay. I trust you."

I pulled her into a hug, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Thank you. I promise you won't regret it."

We sat there for a while, just holding each other in the dark while I saw Rick walk away in the close distance. We were finding comfort in the silence. I knew we still had challenges ahead, but as long as we faced them together, I was confident we could overcome anything.

After a while, we stood up and walked back to the apartment, hand in hand. The future was uncertain, but with Brie by my side, I knew we could handle whatever came our way. And as we walked into the apartment, I felt a renewed sense of hope and determination. Abby might try to tear us apart, but our love was stronger than any obstacle she could throw at us.

I have to get that restraining order against Abby. She cannot do this all the time and think that she can get away with it all the time. She wants to be with me so badly, but I won't give in to her. I can't believe I was so stupid to be with her back then. I never knew it would've been this way. I never knew that my own life would've ended up this way either. But now, I have to protect the ones that I love. Most importantly, Brie and our baby.
