Chapter 64 Rescue From Sophia
Brielle's POV
I didn't know what to do in this moment because Daylan would be meeting me here. I guess I have no choice but to go to the restaurant with her. She grabbed my hand and pulled me towards her.
"Come on, let's go. We need this catch up either way," she led the way to the restaurant. I just let her be.
We entered the restaurant, which was full of people enjoying their meals. This restaurant is quite luxurious. Rick and I were never here together for the number of years that we dated. We had a restaurant that we liked to go out on a date to.
The host led us to a table in the far corner. I followed after Sophia until we reached our table. We sat across from each other. I placed my handbag on my lap. The host set menus in front of us before he walked away.
"My boyfriend will be meeting me here. So, I doubt that I will be able to have lunch with you. He might arrive anytime," I said.
Sophia was holding the menu, "Well, he can join us. I just need this," she said as she scanned through that menu.
I didn't want this, but what could I do? Take my phone out to text Daylan to save me? Maybe it would just be rude to just leave her here alone.
"I think he wants us to be alone," I stated.
"You both will be alone after this, and it's my treat," she smiled, closing her menu. "So, are you ready to order?" she signaled to a waiter.
When the waiter appeared at our table, she gave her order, and then it was my turn, "I will have water, please," I smiled.
"Is that all?" Sophia asked.
"Yeah, I'm not really hungry," I replied.
"Okay then," she shrugged before looking at the waiter again, "That will be all," she smiled as the waiter took our menus and left. "I would like you to attend our wedding. It would be great for Tim to have his sister there. I would love to make him happy on our special day and what better way to have you there?" she said.
"Oh, I don't think I can. Tim and I have had a really tough childhood..." I sucked in my breath, I couldn't tell her what happened. I promised that I wouldn't. "We just didn't see eye to eye on things and our bond was strained as much as he thought about me after I left. But I don't want to be involved in anything that Tim does. It's his life, and I'm just here for the sake of my boyfriend." I stated while lying about our childhood. I shifted in my seat uncomfortably.
"Oh... Well, maybe you can both put the past behind you and just have fun," she said, holding my gaze.
"The other reason why I do not wish to be there, is because of Roger. I really don't want to see him anytime soon. I did get to see him at the hospital when he was there for a check-up, but I don't want to be forced into anything else. I think that pretty much sums up our relationships in the past. My reason for leaving," I said, trying my best for her to back off.
"Maybe with this wedding you can reconcile. The poor man is sick, and it would do him good to be able to see you again."
I leaned back in the chair, taking in a deep breath as the waiter placed the order on the table and then left.
"Look, I know you mean well, but I know them better. I don't want to be forced into things that I don't want to do. I wish that I could attend the wedding under different circumstances, but this family is not it for me. I have my own things to deal with. Please, don't be persistent with me. I hope that this will make you stop because it won't work with me," I stated.
"I was just trying to be nice. I was hoping that the tension between you all would calm down. I know that I don't know much, but I was only trying to be helpful. I guess I tried," she took her glass of water and sipped it.
"I appreciate your efforts, but this is as far as it will go. On a different note: how's the pregnancy going?" I asked. I was eager to know about it since I'm pregnant too.
"It's going well. But I still feel under the weather at times. So, I'm coping," she said as she began to eat.
I just nodded, not sure what to say. I don't even know if I should tell her about my pregnancy? "That's-" a hand was against my shoulder, warmth penetrating through the fabric of my dress, and then I looked up as Daylan came into view.
"I hope that I'm not too late," he smiled at me.
"Oh no, you're not. I was just waiting here with Sophia," I returned his smile, relieved that he was here to save me.
He looked at her, "Sophia. I trust that you are doing good."
"I'm doing great, thanks," she smiled, but she couldn't even peel her eyes away from him. Do I have to go through this all the time?
"Good to know. Now, can I have my girlfriend all to myself?" he asked.
"Sure...of-of course." she stammered. I guess Daylan would shut her up.
Daylan looked at me and held his hand out to me. I placed mine in his as he helped me to stand up, clutching my handbag against my belly. Daylan led me further away from the table all the way to the corner table .
He pulled a chair out for me, and I sat down, this time, placing my bag on the floor beside me, and he sat across from me, a smile played across his face.
"You look handsome," I smiled. His blue eyes were glowing.
"Thank you, you are always beautiful," he looked at me with adoration.
"Thank you," heat crept up in my cheeks. He was dressed in gray dress pants and a white shirt that was tucked in.
"So, what was that about?" he asked.
"Firstly, thank you for saving me from her because she was being persistent. Secondly, she wanted to catch up or something. I'm just grateful that you're here. I'm thirsty after being there."
Daylan signaled to the waiter, "Let's feed our baby," he smiled.
This just made me melt. I love him even more in this version. I hadn't seen him this happy before and full of smiles. He has an attractive smile and I study him even more. I'm falling even more in love with him by the day.
