Chapter 63 Interview

Chapter 63 Interview
Brielle's POV

Today was my interview with Tabitha and some board members at her company. I sucked in a deep breath as I looked at the cars in front of us. Daylan wanted to drop me off while he got some things ready for his apartment because I would be going over there after this interview.

He placed his hand on my thigh, I was wearing a black dress that flared out from my waist, the length just above the knees and black ankle boots. My hair was loose. "You will do great. Just be yourself. I have faith in you," he said as he removed his hand, and then we pulled up in front of the company along the busy street. He turned off the ignition and got out of the car.

He walked around the front of the car and opened the passenger side door for me, holding out his hand to me, and I clutched my handbag, placing my hand in his, and then he helped me out of the car, closing the door behind me.

I stepped onto the sidewalk, and he pulled me towards him, his hands on both my arms now, rubbing them gently. "Call me if you need anything and when you're done. I want to have lunch with you at that restaurant over there," he looked over my head to where the restaurant was.

"I would love that, and I will call or text," I smiled.

His eyes fell on me again, "You are beautiful," he moved my hair over my shoulder. "You got this." he smiled.

"Thanks," the heat crept up into my cheeks. "I better go inside before I'm late for my interview." I said.

"I love you," he leaned in and placed a soft kiss against my cheek, and he pulled away again. "I don't want to ruin your lipstick," he smiled.

"I love you too," my smile widened, and then I walked through the rotating doors and into the foyer. Although I partially knew this building, I still walked over to the receptionist for my interview. Maybe she had to alert them that I was here, and maybe they were still busy with something else. "Hi, I'm here to see Tabitha-"

"Yeah, Brielle," she smiled. She was dark in complexion, her hair neatly combed to the back into a neat low bun. She typed away on her keyboard, "You are Rick's girlfriend, right?" she asked.

"Uh, no. We are no longer together, we are only friends now," I replied.

"Well, that sucks. You were both always so cute together, but you can go straight to the boardroom. I'm sure you know where that is," she smiled.

"Thank you," I smiled awkwardly at her before I went to the elevator.

When the elevator opened, it was empty, and I stepped inside, pushing the button to the floor that I needed to be on. The elevator stopped on a floor and then a blonde entered as she studied me. She then turned around and stood in front of me, pushing the button for the same floor as me. It was just the two of us now as we ascended. She did have a file in her hand when she entered. That Blonde.

"So, you're here for Rick?" she asked over her shoulder.

"Sorry, what?" I didn't expect her to say anything since she was the one that Rick cheated on me with.

"You're here for Rick. I hope that you're happy with him because he still loves you. He just used me for an easy f^ck," her voice laced with bitterness. "All because of you," she shook her head.

"I'm sorry, but maybe you don't know this. Rick and I have not been together ever since he cheated on me with you. I have a boyfriend and it's certainly not Rick. You can have him for all I care," I hissed. She changed my mood completely. The elevator stopped and as soon as the doors opened, I brushed past her and walked fast down the hallway.

Eventually, I got to the boardroom and I saw Tabitha sitting down on a chair. I entered, there was no one else yet. "Hi," I smiled as she looked at me.

"You look pretty today, and I hope to see this vibrant looking Brielle when you work here," she winked at me and smiled. "Please, have a seat," she gestured with her hand to the seat at the head of the boardroom table. I pulled the chair out and took a seat. Placing my handbag on my lap. I didn't even see the booklets in front of her. "I printed out your resume that you emailed to me," she said.

"Thank you."

The blonde entered and another older man, they took a seat across from Tabitha. The blonde didn't even look at me, she looked as if she would explode at any minute. "Tabitha, I have things to do, and I will not waste my time if this interview drags on," she said, clasping her hands on the desk.

"Well, this is Brielle and I think that she is the perfect fit in the admin department. More importantly, you both need an assistant, and I need an assistant too." Tabitha said as she handed my resume to them both. "Brielle is talented, and she is a writer." I was taken aback because I never typed that into my resume. Did she add that? "She will be working with my ex-husband, who is also a medical author, on her debut novel. She is hardworking, and you won't regret working with her."

They both looked through my resume, "It says here that she has a medical condition," the blonde said, closing the booklet, "I cannot work with someone who has a condition, she might fall sick, and I wouldn't know what to do. It's a no from me," she said. I was relieved by that, but the final decision was up to Tabitha.

"I agree with Annabella, I can't work with someone who has a condition either," the man said. He looked at me with sympathy. That leaves me with Tabitha then.

"I think that its best that Brielle works with you, Annabella. You need this, and I won't take no for an answer," Tabitha said, I sighed as much as I hoped it would go for me.

"I can't-"

"You will and I've made my final decision. The interview is done," she glared at Annabella. Stressful times ahead for me.

Annabella took the resume, and looked at me, "Make sure you’re on time tomorrow. If you're late, you will get your first warning," she stood up and walked out. The man left after her.

"She needs someone to break her, in other words. She needs humbling, and I think that you can do that for her," she smiled.

"I would prefer to work with you," I said.

"I have plans, but I need this to work between you and Annabella. So, how's things with you and Daylan?" she asked, changing the topic.

"Things are going great, especially with my pregnancy and my condition. I will be moving in with him, so Rick can move back to the apartment. I never knew that he was at the hotel," I still felt so bad about it.

"He has a heart, as you know, and he still loves you. I just wish that he never messed things up between you both. I could have had grandkids, but now that is ruined, and I'm not sure if he will ever be ready for someone else again," she said with a bit of sadness in her eyes.

"I'm sorry about that. Hopefully, he will meet someone that will be right for him. That person is no longer me," I smiled sympathically, "But I am happy with Daylan now and my dreams are coming true."

"I'm happy for you. I wish I had the same, but one cannot change the past and only hope that the future will be bright," she smiled. "But I have to get back to work and attend a virtual conference meeting. I will see you tomorrow at 8AM," she smiled.

I stood up with my handbag in my hand, "Thank you for this opportunity, you won't be disappointed," I said.

"Anything for you," she smiled, and then I left.

I still can't believe that I have to work with Annabella. It reminds me of the horror film. Annabella does seem like a horror to work with and Tabitha expects me to break her? Ugh, good luck to me with that.

I finally exit the building and once I stepped out onto the sidewalk, I rummaged in my bag to take my phone out and let Daylan know that I was done, and I would meet him at the restaurant not too far down from the company. I heard a slightly familiar voice.

"Brie?" I turned and it was Tim's fiancé. "I've been wanting to see you. We should go for lunch. If you're not too busy right now, we can go to that restaurant over there," she pointed in the direction of the restaurant that Daylan and I would be going to.

I just didn't want anything to do with her. I didn't even want to see her and she is persistent.
