Chapter 88

Chapter 88

Her eyes suddenly widened.

Simon's sharp gaze swept over her, and a muffled sound escaped from between his lips and teeth, "Close your eyes."

But the more he said it, the more Aurora refused.

Aurora kept staring at him, as if trying to bore him into losing interest.

The two seemed to be locked in a silent battle of wills.

Aurora wouldn't close her eyes, so Simon's movements became even more intense.

Actually, at first, he hadn't planned to do anything, because he didn't want Aurora to hate him.

But seeing her stubborn defiance at this moment, he thought of what he'd witnessed today.

In front of others, she could be gentle and obedient, but only with him she acted like this?

"Aurora, am I really that bad to you?"

These words hit Aurora hard in the heart.

She thought to herself, well, what else?

Was he good to her?

Even with Daniel, just a superior-subordinate relationship, Daniel had chosen to comfort Aurora after learning what happened at the banquet, though his approach was a bit clumsy.

But thinking back on it, Aurora still felt warmth in her heart.

Simon, as her husband, the person directly responsible for her inability to have children, now acted like nothing happened!

Not only did he offer no comfort, he even wanted to force her.

Aurora kept her eyes open as big tears suddenly began to fall.

Feeling the saltiness and heat of her tears, Simon released her like he'd been shocked, though his body still pressed against hers.

After the kiss was interrupted, the atmosphere between them became even more strange.

Simon's thumb gently wiped away her tears, "Why are you crying?"

His voice was impossibly hoarse.

Aurora turned her face away, "Don't touch me."

"I just want to ask... do you really not want to?"

Simon hadn't given up yet.

All his emotions were screaming inside for an outlet, and at this moment, desire had become the best form of expression.

He frowned in confusion, "We've had so many years together."

In his view, some things had become unspoken agreements between them.

They knew each other's every sensitive spot.

After all this time, did Aurora really have no desire at all?

Aurora looked at him, her eyes full of disbelief, "We're about to get divorced, and this is all you care about?"

"Simon, if you're feeling horny, go find Blair, or go find some other woman. Can you please just stay away from me!"

After these words, the atmosphere in the room instantly froze.

Simon had been scolded harshly, but he didn't seem angry. His dark eyes just took on a cold edge.

"Is this what you want to say to me? Divorcing me, you won't regret it at all?"

Aurora said firmly, "I won't regret it."

"But I think you will."

Simon lowered his head, gently pressing his forehead against Aurora's.

"You'll definitely regret it. So I don't want to give you the chance to regret and suffer."

It was unclear whether he was saying this to Aurora or trying to convince himself.

Aurora let him lean against her, saying nothing for a long while.

Her eyes still held tears, and her gaze toward him carried a hint of confusion. Seeing this, Simon's heart trembled hard.

Aurora remained silent for a long time. Simon straightened his clothes.

"I'm staying here tonight."

As if the passion from moments ago had been just a fleeting mistake.

Aurora's attitude remained wooden, "If you're sleeping here, then I'm leaving."

"Before our divorce, do you really want to make this into something that reaches your mom?"

Hearing him threaten her with Mia again, Aurora glared at him fiercely, "If you're in heat, then just..."

Before she could finish, Simon pressed down on her again.

Their faces were extremely close, as if he would kiss her the next second.

"Aurora, don't say things like that in front of me, or I'll do something, and you know what."

Thinking of the times they'd been together before, Aurora gritted her teeth hard.

Sometimes he was just shameless, and she had no way to deal with him.

Aurora pushed him away and went to the bathroom herself.

After attending the industry summit today, there were still some materials that needed organizing, and she had to go to work tomorrow.

She'd just pretend this person wasn't there.

But in the middle of the night, as Aurora drowsily slept, she suddenly felt someone next to her.

When she woke up the next day, she felt something heavy around her waist.

Lifting her head, she discovered Simon lying beside her, his warm body pressed tightly against hers.

The familiar scent of cedar from Simon's body lingered in the room, stirring up some distant memories in Aurora.

Indeed, it had been a long time since they'd lain together so peacefully.

But this scene brought Aurora more horror than anything else.

Aurora hurriedly sat up and pushed Simon. Simon seemed to have just woken up and squinted his eyes.

"What's wrong?"

Aurora said nothing, just turned to change into her pajamas and went to the bathroom.

Last night she'd been busy working and didn't know how long he'd stayed at her place, and he'd actually spent the night.

Aurora had thought Simon was joking.

This dragging feeling made her very uncomfortable.

Aurora felt like she was trapped. They were supposed to be getting divorced, but now...

Simon came over again, "When are you coming back to live at the Coldridge estate with me?"

"You know I can't possibly go back there."

Even if they didn't divorce, she wouldn't go back to the Coldridge estate.

Everyone knew she couldn't have children.

What was the point?

The atmosphere between them became tense again. Simon ran his hand through his hair.

He turned to look at Aurora, his face showing some distress.

His brow furrowed tightly, his gaze landing on Aurora and never leaving.

Aurora stood up, and when she glanced over casually and caught his gaze, her heart trembled hard too.

She said nothing, just went into the bathroom on her own.

When Aurora came out of the bathroom, Simon was no longer in the room.

She breathed a sigh of relief, though somewhere in her heart was struck hard, bringing a strange feeling.

Just as she was thinking about going out for breakfast before work, she saw he was still in the living room.

"What are you still doing here?"

Aurora was startled and blurted out.

She had already started getting used to life after divorce, and Simon being here now made her restless and irritated.

"I'm your husband. Isn't it normal for me to wait for you at home? Want to have breakfast together in a bit?"

Simon suggested this as if nothing had happened.

His earlier suggestion about returning to the Coldridge estate had been serious, but seeing Aurora had no interest, he dropped the idea.

"If you don't want to go back to the Coldridge estate, let's go to that vacation villa we stayed at before."

But Aurora didn't agree to any of these suggestions.

"Don't want to go."

Aurora finished getting ready and went to do her makeup.

Simon somehow walked over and stood at the bedroom doorway, his shoulder leaning against one side of the wall, his attitude lazy and casual.

This scene made Aurora furious.

Didn't he have to go to work?

What was the point of hanging around her all day?
