Chapter 68

Emeralds POV

She nodded.

“But you are your own person.” I said.

“I know that now. But as a teen, a young adult, I had no idea.” She said. “I just didn’t want to raise my kid in that environment.”

I nodded in understanding, “I mean I wouldn’t either.”

“Right.” She said.

“What happened after that?” I asked as the waiter brought back our food.

“Well, I met your father when I was a young adult. I was entranced. I immediately fell in love, head over heels. I still am to this day in love with him. But your grandparents when we first met, not thrilled at all. I mean your father tried to do the right thing by wanting to have dinner with them to meet them and understand my life and where I came from. But they weren’t having none of it. They didn’t want me getting into a relationship with any guy. They didn’t want me go forbid ruining what I had given to them. They didn’t want me getting married or ruining my perfect body with kids or anything. They would always tell me that your father was a bad guy for stealing me away from them and them not being able to have money coming in basically.” Topaz explained.

“Oh.” I said. I knew dad explained a little of it but I didn’t realize it was so bad.

“Yeah. They told me so many lies about your father. But for a little bit I didn’t believe them. I wanted to have a normal relationship with a man. And your father had always put my thoughts and feelings first. He never put himself first but that didn’t stop my parents from lying

to me about him.” She explained.

I nodded, “That sucks.”

“Yes it does. Because even you know your father is a very caring person.” She said.

“He is. He made me always feel like I was loved.” I smiled.

“He is that type of caring man. Anyways when I did get pregnant with you, my parents were so mad. They were probably the maddest I have ever seen them. I actually had ran away at one point right after I had told them because I was so scared of what they were going to do to not only me but you. I ran away to your father’s house. I didn’t know where else to go or what to do and I didn’t have any friends. Your father when I told him, was so happy. He was thrilled and promised me that he would be there for me always. I was scared about my family and what if I turned out like them as a parent. I was constantly riddled with anxiety my whole pregnancy. I was a mess and I never went back to them for my whole pregnancy. But after I had you I was still terrified of myself. I was scared and young. I didn’t know how I was going to be as a parent. Then my mom started contacting me saying that she would see your father out with different women and had evidence. I just had you and now in my head I had to deal with a cheating man. I was upset. Now as an adult obviously I knew it couldn’t have been your father because I have always been able to look into his eyes and never once felt afraid or anything. As a young adult not thinking clearly, having a million and one emotions running through me, I would look at the pictures of the guy that they sent me with another woman and realized oh my god he was cheating on me. I mean I was mad and was constantly upset with him even as he tried telling me it wasn’t him. That he would never do that but I was mad and upset. My parents promised me also that they could get me a private trainer to lose the baby fat and get me back into modeling. For some reason I believed them. I went back with them instead of fighting for us and you. Obviously now that’s something yes I can apologize for but I could never get back that time to make things right. But I can start today and now. I know you are an adult so I obviously don’t want to parent you or anything like that. I just want to be able to be in your life from now on though.” Topaz explained as we ate.

I nodded, “I appreciate you telling me all this. I honestly do.”

“You’re welcome.” She said.

“I don’t know. Dad what do you think about all this?” I asked.

“I believe her. I do. I was there at the time when these things happened. She is not making any of that up. Unfortunately her parents were like that. They were mean, horrible people.” He said.

“Have you forgiven her?” I asked.

“Yes.” He said firmly reaching across and holding her hand. “I have. I have also had her forgive me as well for not being there more and trying even harder back then to keep her by my side. Over the past few days I had told her what we are and what I am and where I live. I have yet to take her to the island yet but I do want to. I also would like to take you two as well. I know Jeremy you have probably heard the horror stories about the island but I promise it is yes scary and terrifying but not the main island. But I would like for you two to visit and take you all at once to the island so I only have to explain things one time.”

“Jeremy what do you think?” I asked.

“I think that we could do that. Maybe tomorrow? I mean it’s Sunday. I know we have Amelia’s game later and that party. But we can still go tomorrow if you’re up for it.” He said.

“I am definitely up for it.” I said.

“Good. Thank you Mr. Stone for inviting me along.” Said Jeremy politely.

“You’re welcome.” He said.

“I just can’t believe all of this. Dad what are you doing then? I mean what does this mean for you two? Just so I know what’s going on?” I asked.

“Well, I would like a chance for us to start over as well. Your mom and I had already discussed that. So as of a few days ago we decided to literally tell each other everything. No more lies between us. I was surprised though that she was not scared off by who or what I am.” He explained.

“So you knew who or what dad was?” I asked surprised.

“Oh no. I had no idea what he was or who he was. But with his eyes doing what they can do I always knew he was different but I never knew how different he really was.” She explained.

“True. The first time I asked about him I remember he told me he was just different.” I explained.

“Right I mean, I thought the same thing that he was just different and I always suspected of him that he would be of something else.” She said.

I nodded, “Well, that’s good but weird.”

“I think for all of us, it would take time for us to get used to it.” Dad said.

“I agree. But I think if dad is willing to start over then we can too. I still even after today want to be able to take my time to adjust to everything. Even after tomorrow, now with seeing the island and where I grew up I want to be able to get adjusted to everything. I want to be able to think clearly in everything. That will all take time so please bear with me.” I said.

“I understand fully.” Dad said.

“I understand.” Mom said.

“I think since we are done eating. I think it is time to go back to the house and get ready for Amelia’s last game and the pool party afterwards if they are even still going to have the pool set up.” I said.

“True.” He said and stood up. “Mr. Stone. Um,”

“Topaz please.” She said.

Jeremy nodded, “Topaz we will see you tomorrow around say noon again?”

“Sounds good to me.” I said as I stood up as well.

“Sounds good to us.” We will see you tomorrow.” Said Dad.

I hugged him but shook hands with her which was progress in my opinion because at first I wanted nothing to do with her.

We left to go back to the apartment to get ready for Amelia’s game.
