Lana
Lana
Mark's POV
I walk into the Red Zone club. Usually, by this time, the club is full. The heat is unbearable in here as I move through the crowd to find my daughter. It's kind of hard to see where she could be with these strobe lights. I never liked to be at the club at this time of the night. I made sure that my friends and I were here earlier in the evening when we used to hangout here. The same with the partners of Sternpoint if we decided to come here.
I go to a far corner and I see young people. I walk over to them. She never went to a club in her life because I would never allow it. She doesn't need to be in this place to have fun. I see two girls sitting on a sofa and the boys are standing and talking to them. Lana isn't here. On a table, there is alcohol and drugs. Anger rises within me.
"Do you know of a girl named Lana?" I raise my voice over the blaring music. They all turn their attention to me.
"Aren't you her dad?" one of the boys look at me as if I look familiar to him.
"Where the f^ck is she?!" I raise my voice even louder.
"In the bathroom or somewhere." the one boy says, looking afraid as I glare at them.
I walk away without saying anything. I reach the bathroom but I see Lana is pressed against the wall, with another boy caging her in and she seems afraid. I walk towards them, containing my anger and I rip the boy away from her and I shove him away with all the strength that I have. He stumbles to the ground.
"What the f^ck, man?" he says, looking up at me. My jaw clenches.
"You stay the f^ck away from my daughter, if you ever touch her or even come closer to her again, then I will rip your head off your body and you will not be able to reattach it to your body, are we clear?" I say through clenched teeth.
"Whatever, man. Take her away then." he says. I move my attention to Lana, she hugs herself and I am even more angry with her.
"Let's go." I say to her as I grip her wrist gently and I lead her out of the club. These kids are so disrespectful. Don't their parents teach them any manners? Do their parents even know that they are here? This is unbelievable. My blood is boiling.
We finally step outside into the cool air. I still grip her wrist. I will f^cking have a word with Reggie about this sh^t.
"Daddy, you can let go of my wrist now." Lana says behind me.
"The hell I am." I hiss as I continue to walk.
We reach the car and I let go of her wrist. We get inside of the car. I start the engine and we drive away from the club.
I can hear Lana sniffle and I can see out of the corner of my eye that she is fidgeting with her hands because she is nervous. She always did that when she was nervous.
"Did he hurt you?" I ask as calmly as I can.
"No." she says, holding back a sob.
"Has anything happened?"
"No."
"Don't talk bullsh^t to me." I hiss, because I am done trying to be calm. I heard her gasp as she got a fright.
"That is the very reason why I don't ever talk to you." she hisses back through a sob. I shake my head in disbelief.
"Do you know that your mother and I came back from the hospital because grandmother died? And this is the sh^t that you pull with us." I hiss.
"What?" she asks in shock.
"Yes, grandmother died this evening." I say. She didn't say anything. "She had a heart attack."
" I'm sorry, dad." she says.
"Sorry for grandmother or for what you did?" I ask.
"For both." she says.
"We are not done with that conversation." I make it clear to her.
"Can we not have that conversation?" she asks.
"Lana, we cannot avoid this." I hiss.
We pull up in the driveway and I get out of the car. As I walk up the steps, she follows after me. Once we are inside, she walks towards the stairs as Gray enters the lounge from the kitchen. "Lana, please have a seat in the lounge." Gray says to her. Lana turns around and she goes to take a seat on the sofa.
"Nothing happened and I'm sorry for what I did." she says to us.
"There were alcohol and drugs involved. You were there, how sure can your mother and I be that you never drank?" he says.
"I had a beer and that was all and a shot," she says.
"What else, Lana?" I ask.
"That was all." she says.
"What was that f^cker doing to you?" I hiss.
"Mark, language." Gray says to me.
"I don't give a f^ck, Gray. Our evening is ruined because of this sh^t. I wanted kids but I never thought that it would be like this." I hiss at her. I turn my attention to Lana. "You are grounded for a month and hand your phone over to me." I say.
She takes her phone out of her jeans pocket and she hands it over to me. "Is there anything else that you want to take? My sketches?" she asks, clearly upset that she is being punished.
"You can go to your room." I say and she walk away.
Gosh, if Lana starts like this, what about the others? They are giving me gray hair. I need the strength because all I wanted was kids and I never thought about when they would become teenagers. I can't believe that my little girl did this sh^t. I didn't expect this from her at all.
Gray's POV
I haven't seen Mark this angry before at the kids, but I understand that his mother died and then Lana pulled this on us. Mark needs time. He sits down on the sofa and I join him.
"This is what is bound to happen." I say.
He shakes his head. "I didn't expect this at all."
"Just so you know, I never did any sh^t like that. You missed my teenage years, I was fine. I simply think that Lana is easily influenced by her friends." I say.
"That is clear and she takes after me. I was easily influenced by my friends." he says with a sigh.
"Let's hope that the others don't follow after you with regards to that." I say.
"I hope the same. Your father always kept me away from being influenced by the wrong crowd." he says, "He was a good friend." He says.
"He was in a certain things." he says
" I'm sorry that the evening turned out this way." I feel bad for all of this even though it wasn't my fault.
"I will have to get the kids tomorrow and then make arrangements for the funeral. I am just tired." he says.
"I can get the kids tomorrow." I offer.
"No, I need to speak to Reggie about what happened" he says.
"I understand. Why don't you take a shower and get into bed?" I say.
He nods and then he stands up from the sofa. He walks to the stairs.
I will still be here for him when he needs me. He has had enough on his shoulders tonight. I may be the more gentle parent, but Mark can get very angry. I am disappointed in Lana, but I hope that she has learnt from this. I will continue to have talks with her. I know that she will not talk to me about anything, she would rather just keep it to herself.
