Chapter 64 64
Alpha Dean~~
I nearly died while escaping from being captured by that devil. His survival and attack was one thing I didn't see coming and wasn't ever prepared for, so the least I could do was escape with my men, and he took my pack members captive.
Knowing that the only way to get through him was getting his mate, since he refused to accept Drogo's offer, I had to put in efforts, while in hiding, to find her, before the news of Knox's revival takes over.
And here she was, glaring at me with frustration, doubt and anger overwhelming her. She could rip me apart if she were in the place to do so, but I knew so much that she never wanted Knox dead, and could have known of his survival.
“Take me to Knox!!” she yelled the third time, and I couldn't help but chuckle. I had feigned deafness and was tired of it, so giving her a shot of her medicine would be okay. “You're the devil here. It's fucking good he didn't die, so just take me to him.”
I shoved out the photos in the pocket of my jacket and showed her. I watched as her pupils dilated, and I almost burst into laughter. “I'm sending this to him, and you know what it means, right?” I asked, and her glare alone gave me the answer. “Now listen! He's been searching for you since he attacked my pack and took my people, and is even dying from his curse, so he needs you badly before his death. Once he sees this, he would even risk his life to save yours, and that's what I need at this moment. If I achieve this, I will take you, your people and his people as slaves, then become the talk of the time.”
Her face was drained of blood. The worst mistake I made was being so soft towards her just to have her settle in my pack. If her father had let me have her when I wished, maybe we would be fond of each other and not rivals like now.
What I didn't expect was seeing those tears as they streamed down her cheeks. I couldn't believe she was weeping for a man who massacred her entire family and left her with no one.
“You must have forgotten who exactly he is to you.” I tried reminding her, but she shook her head.
“No matter who he is, you can't use me as bait to draw him closer, just because you know he's dying and I'm his last wish. Whatever beef you two have is none of my business.” Her voice was teary, and I hated it so much. “Dean, what exactly do you want? Is it your people or…
“Everything! I want everything. The power he has, the influence, his wealth and resources, and so many more. I want them all!!” Anger rose to my chest. How could she ask me that? “I'm going to take everything I ever wanted, including you. And you know what's so interesting? You're going to watch him die…”
She shook her head, tears streaming down her face. I felt so disgusted watching a crybaby like her, someone who should stand by me and fight her father's foe, yet she was developing useless emotions for him just because of a useless matebond.
“Since he's already dying, why not just let him die and let me go? I never plan to return to him, so allow me to go back to the academy and continue my training,” she still wailed, and I knew damn well she was delusional.
Did she forget that I told her how I owned her, and how my woman does nothing but stay and serve me? If she becomes a fashion designer and makes a name for herself, how would she serve me? I wouldn't be that stupid and watch my women grow wings under my power.
I ignored that bitch and walked away, then finally handed the photos to my men so they would go after Knox and make sure it reached him.
When the photo reached his pack, I got to know as well and expected him to reach out and act quickly since it had to do with the life of his mate. But two days elapsed, and I hadn't heard from him, not even a signal of danger.
I had to meet Phoebe, who was finally helpless, and said to her face, “When did you become so worthless to him? How come he doesn't seem to care about you anymore when you are just quick to grab right now?”
She looked me dead in the eyes and snorted, “I think that's the best. You can't trick him with my photo.”
If she weren't Phoebe, I would punch her face and watch her spill blood through her broken lips, but I just had to swallow down my anger and walk away from her. Let's see how it goes, but either way, she wasn't going to break free from me any longer.
Knox would die, and I would still grab her. If he would rather show up, I would love it too.
The alpha supreme will do nothing about his death, and that was because he's been under his threat for a long time. He would even be present to see his corpse at his funeral.
When the sky was covered in darkness, and the half moon showed up, I stood and watched the sky, meditating on what could be the next action for me to take, if, after three days, Knox doesn't show up. Could it be that he had died or had given up because he didn't want his mate to watch him die?
But I wasn't even planning to let him take her. His presence would be his death.
Hours passed, and I got tired of standing, so I had to begin entering the building, which I had rented after I left my pack. As I climbed the veranda, my beta came forth and bowed to me. She signalled me with a nod towards my office, and I knew someone would be waiting there by that time.
Well, it was the mighty Levi, beta of the great Alpha Knox.
He bowed the moment I showed up and didn't waste time beginning.
“You must know so well that he would take her out alive, and you wouldn't harm her. In fact, it could lead to your death because he's been searching for you and won't let you survive,” he stated, and I clenched my palms into a fist. He would never look down on Knox for once, and I hated that part of him. How long was he going to be loyal, knowing that he wouldn't get what he wanted if he didn't take my side completely?
Anyways, I didn't let him know that part of working for me alone, because using him was the best.
“Alpha, take back your people and release her. You will regain your pack, and can now move forward to whatever you're planning, but she must be unharmed.”
“Knox is dying, and you aren't relenting.” I managed to say, and he nodded, wearing a sinister smile. “I see! You really don't want to leave him until his death, because you know he will eventually die.”
“That is more reason for you to let her go unharmed. If you do so, then wait calmly for him to pass on, while I try my best to see that she doesn't lift his curse. Or isn't his life and taking her the only thing you want?” he inquired, and I nodded, with my hands in my pockets. “Send forth to me how it would be done, and make sure you don't harm her, or I will have no choice but to let my alpha lead.”
I scoffed and walked past him.
