Chapter 39 39

Chapter 39 39
Alpha Knox~~

I ordered Phoebe's presence in my room, and when she showed up, she looked just fine. The moment her gaze landed on the blood I had spilled on the floor, her eyes grew large in terror, then she turned and looked at me. “What happened to you?”

To even get mad at her became a hassle. I just stared at her, my arms folded against my chest.

Levi had gotten my antipoison, which I always had with me, and it neutralized whatever it was that almost took my life. With my legs crossed against each other, I asked her, “Are you so shocked that I got over your poison? Is this why you've been acting so sweet recently?”

She grimaced, glanced at the blood again and stepped backwards. “What are you talking about? That I poisoned you? How could I do that when I couldn't even stab you?”

I seriously tried to sniff any type of poison from her, but perceived none. I was sure that no matter how long it had taken, my wolf would be able to dictate if she had ever touched anything poisonous.

“Alpha, could you elaborate on what you mean by a poison? This is the same meal that I ate, and as you can see, I'm very fine." She turned around, her arms sideways so I could see how fit she was after eating the same meal. “So what do you mean?”

At that moment, a servant walked in as I ordered Levi and began cleaning the blood while we watched. After the servant left, I continued with my interrogation. “Phoebe, how and why did you poison the meal you made me eat? There's a possibility that you poisoned my own portion….”

“I wouldn't dare when I know the repercussions. And of course, isn't your wolf that active to perceive poison any longer? You could tell if I touched any or had inhaled one too,” she gestured, looking frustrated, and surely recalled the level my wolf could go. “This isn't something to take lightly. What if someone is after your life or trying to implicate me? What could have happened if you didn't have an anti-poison?”

She paced to the bed and walked back to the sofa where I sat. “Thats not it! I'm the target. I mean, the cooks prepare something for you daily, and just now that I wanted to do the same, this happened. It's so vivid, but how do I clear my name now?”

The sweat that gathered on her forehead said it all. She was just startled and didn't know what to do. She loosened her hair and tied it up into a knot, yet did nothing other than pace about.

Soon, Levi drew my attention. “The prison guards are here!!”

Phoebe's eyes widened. She turned to me, lips dropped open.

“Take her away!” I ordered, expecting her to kneel, but she didn't.

No word left her lips. She just let her body be dragged out of the room, and watching her caused my chest to be so heavy.

My wolf growled in my head, and I winced silently. ‘You knew she was innocent.’

‘Arresting her is the easiest way to know if she was set up. Could you just let me be? I can see you aren't scared of death.’ I snapped back at my wolf and lay back on the sofa.

‘Why should I be scared of death? Nothing is scarier than losing my mate or watching her hurt.’

Probably, my wolf is one major reason I can't get over that female. What exactly was so special about her? Oh fuck! She was really special, especially when it came to dripping those juices for my phallus to get fed.

How did I forget that part of her? What female could moan the way she does?

“Your majesty!” Levi called for my attention, and I looked up to meet his confused look.

I shook my head, “Just go for now. I need to rest a bit.”

He bowed and exited the room, so I stayed alone, trying not to think of Phoebe, but I still can't get that female off my head. If I get her out of that cell, I would just pound her honeypot until she moans my name, convulsing in her climax.

I didn't know how long I sat there, but I eventually dozed off, only to wake up with the doorbell ringing continuously. I sniffed, and it happened to be Vivien, so for the first time, I thought to let her in and to know what exactly she was up to.

After stretching my limbs as I stood up, I walked to the door and unlocked it, then let her in.

She stood for some time, admiring the beauty of the room, while I walked back to the sofa and sat comfortably. It was her first time coming in here, and she could attest that everything in my palace was far better than her father's mansion.

All the money her father lent me to start my weapon production, which generated money for me, I had paid back eventually, even before I began building my palace. So there was no way she would say that I did all these with her father's money.

“Are you not going to sit and speak?” I called for her attention, and she grinned, then grabbed a seat. “Is everything okay?”

She nodded, her smile wide enough to deceive a gullible man. “My headservant told me about your food poisoning and that your mate was arrested as the mastermind, so I thought to come sympathize with you, with no high hopes of you letting me in.”

Then how did they know about the poisoning, even when the prison guards didn't know the reason they took Phoebe away? What a smooth clue without proof yet. If I did ask her now, she would deny and claim that they overheard it, which could mean that they eavesdropped.

“Last time that you mentioned that I set Phoebe up and had her pushed into the river, I wanted to come tell you the truth since I couldn't stand bearing the cross of what I didn't do, but you didn't let me in,” she stated, sucked her inner lips a bit and adjusted in her seat. “Actually, it was the slave mistress who set her up and not me. She only needed my help to make it successful, claiming that Phoebe sought revenge on you and had several plans against you, so taking her out of the pack would be better for your safety. With that, she planned to take her out of the palace, and with my power, she was being attacked. Who could believe it would bounce back at me?”

I scoffed. What a ridiculous tale.

Just her body movement told a lot about everything she blabbered. What she didn't know was that Levi had leaked everything to me, and there were people to attest to it.

Right now, I was so convinced that she had something to do with the poisoning, because how dare she try to accuse the slave mistress, who was one of the closest people to Phoebe in this palace?

I really needed proof to know if she had anything to do with the poisoning, and since I couldn't perceive it from her as well, there was one option left—fingerfucking her.
