I carried the bowl of water, which I was bringing for the so-called to-be Luna, and placed it on the floor. She had demanded that I wipe her legs with it, and it made me wonder what was wrong with it that it needed to be wiped.
It was my first time having to serve someone, so I wasn't even sure how to or what to do each time.
“Have that napkin I saw in the bathroom soaked in the water, then wipe my dusty feet.”
Dusty feet? The whole palace, including the slave yard, was tiled on the floor so that one wouldn't even see the sand. So how come her feet were dusty when mine wasn't? Still, I knew I didn't have to question her but to do as she said.
I entered the bathroom, grabbed the napkin and came back into the room. I soaked it into the water, and after pressing them out, began wiping her feet as she said.
“What are you doing? Grab my leg by the ankle and wipe my under feet,” she scolded, grimacing.
I coughed slightly and did as she ordered. And as I was doing that, I felt so cringy.
“You wanna hurt me with your alpha power because you're an alpha? Don't think that I will let you do that because Alpha Knox demanded that I not hurt you. You are my servant, and if you disobey, I will do to you what I would do to others,” she ranted and even poked her finger on my forehead.
My eyelids lit up, and I angrily dropped her leg back to the floor. When I met her gaze, she asked as though nothing had just happened, “Are you okay? Continue with what you're doing. Knox wouldn't save you if you dared to disobey me ....”
“Alpha Knox! He isn't your mate!!” I growled at her, and she flinched. “And, he didn't demand it. He ordered that you not hurt me. I am his property and not yours, so don't think I would obey you other than my master.”
My wolf snarled at her and she shifted her ass back into the bed.
She said nothing, and just when I came back to my senses, I snapped at my wolf for taking over me. ‘You really know I don't like how you sided with Knox. That jerk could kill us before her, and she would only smile. I hope you know that?’
Her tail wagged, and then she purred in my head, ‘She would take us for granted if we don't do this.’
‘She would still hurt us if she wanted, and Knox would only scold her.’ I said again and squatted.
The woman was shocked that I had to grab her leg again, and when I was done wiping her feet like she wanted, I pressed out the water in the napkin and took it back to the bathroom. I intended to leave the room with the bowl of water when her order came forth like the roar of a cougar.
“Drink the water until it's finished.”
Seriously? Someone whom I just began serving today? Was it because my wolf growled at her?
I put down the bowl on the floor and asked her, just to be sure I wasn't hearing things. “Are you talking to me?”
‘This is what I was scared of. She would disobey my mate, who said she shouldn't hurt us, because she thinks nothing will stop her coronation and that no one will take our side. Don't be shocked that she would make up lies against us just to have my mate side with her.’ My wolf kept ranting in my head, and I thought she was telling the truth.
She stood up and stretched her dress, crossed her arms against her chest and nodded. “I'm talking to you. Did you see any other people here? I don't need any other servant when you're here, and for thinking that you could do what you like with your alpha aura on me, I would deal with you, and Knox will not save your ass. Now grab the bowl and empty it before I have the guards tie you up.”
My palms tightened beside me. I glared at her like the greatest enemy I had ever had.
At that moment, she seemed to be my greatest problem and not even Knox any longer. If she ever becomes Luna, then it means that I'd be dead meat right here.
I shook my head, held my shoulders high. “I'm sorry, to-be Luna, but I can't do that shit.”
She scoffed and closed the distance between us, looked me straight in the eyes and asked, “Want to know what I could do?”
“You would do nothing!!” I snapped at her, pulling a long face. How dare she think she could treat me like I was no living thing? Like, should I drink the water used to wipe her feet just to be called a good servant? Was she knots of what? “I would rather have you report me to Knox than drink it.”
She shook her head, “Did you even hear me? Who's reporting you? Did you really think Knox would have the time for both of us? I will personally whip you in the torture room.”
“Over my dead body will you do that!!!” I said to her face, and I meant it. She was just a beta, and I was an alpha princess. If not Knox, she wouldn't be able to stand before me. “If you think you can, call the guards in.”
Silence stretched between us. She didn't expect the slave princess she was told about to be challenging, right? Knox was the only one I feared, and that was because I didn't want him to hurt the ones I love. If not, was he a god that I would have to be scared of?
Talk of a beta whom I would devour. Luna, my feet! If only she knew how much I wanted Knox to reject me, but the devil just wants to torture me with the mate bond. He didn't even mark me, just the bond, which he doesn't want to sever for whatever reason he had. Who cares if he chose another woman? I would actually love it so much.
After so much time, the woman bent low and grabbed the bowl. She shoved it to my face, speaking with her facial expression. I didn't want her arm to hurt so much, so I took it away from her slowly.
She wore that sinister smile, as though she had won…but then I slapped the water in the bowl on her face and stepped backwards.
For some time, she froze, and I didn't care.
“Even slaves wouldn't drink such water,” I said to her and dashed out of the room. I went straight and kept the bowl at the place I saw it, then went to the slaveyard to stay with Angeline. I couldn't contain the anger and spilled everything to her, and she burst into laughter. “What's so funny about this? I'm frustrated here…”
She turned to me and patted my shoulder, “Head to the club tonight without being told, or you're going to face hell.”
What? Face hell at night?
