Chapter 209 Turn yourself in
“You wouldn’t have been able to address me as such a month ago,” Eva said before swinging a bottle across Butler Rose’s head.
She groaned and fell to the floor, blood streaking down her head.
“You shouldn’t have come here,” Eva said, bending her head to the side with a not-so-remorseful smile.
“You are insane. I am calling the cops,” Rose said, trying to reach her bag that had fallen a bit far from her.
“That’s if I let you. Anyone who gets in my way is gone!” Eva spat.
She moved, but her leg was caught. It was Killian. His mother had managed to untie his hand before Eva struck.
“Let me go, Killian!!!!” she screamed. He held on with the last strength he had left in him.
“M-mother…” he managed to let out.
Butler Rose crawled quickly towards her bag.
Eva used her leg to stomp on Killian. He groaned in pain but didn’t let go. “E-Eva… s-stop… please…” he said in pain as she continued using her free foot to hit him to let go.
“Fucking let go, Killian…” He held on tighter. Butler Rose had already reached the bag. She bent down, picked up a chair, then smashed it on his head.
“Killian!!” Butler Rose screamed as her son lay on the floor, bleeding out from his nose, mouth, and the tear on his head.
Eva froze. The chair fell from her hand.
“K-Killian?” she called, her vision blurry, like she had snapped out of a fog.
“I… I’m sorry…” she bent down to cover the wound with her hand. “I didn’t mean to… Killian, you wouldn’t let go… I’m sorry…” a sob tore from her throat.
“I…” he tried to speak; blood splattered out of his mouth.
“Don’t touch him! Evil witch… just like your father…” Butler Rose screamed as she pushed Eva away from Killian.
“You deserve to be locked up and never see the break of day!” she screamed.
“M-my baby… I’m sorry I failed you…” she said, cupping his face. She tapped on her phone with her bloodied hand, and the screen wouldn’t budge, so she wiped it on her cloth, crying frantically.
Eva panicked again. She got up and picked the wooden chair she had dropped.
“He…” Butler Rose started.
Eva used the chair to hit her head, over and over.
“You can’t fucking call anyone!!!!!” she said.
“I can’t be locked up… if I am, I can’t be with Maverick…” she stopped hitting when she realized that Butler Rose wasn’t moving anymore.
She shivered at the blood smeared everywhere. She tossed the stick aside and began wiping her hands on her clothes.
She rushed towards Killian. “K-Killian… I’m scared… I don’t know what to do…” she tapped him, but he wasn’t moving. He just lay there.
“Killian, please… I’m sorry, okay… just help me…” she said, holding his cheeks. “Only you would… nobody else… I’m all alone…”
She said, resting her head on his chest.
“E-va…” it came out barely.
She raised her head. His eyes were barely open, his lips were purple, his face white.
“You didn’t leave me, Killian… thank you… I’m sorry about her, okay?” she said, pointing at Butler Rose. “She wanted me locked up…”
“I… love you…” Killian let out. His only regret was supporting her when her obsession germinated seven years ago. He was at fault for how she turned out. He should have stopped her when she still had the chance.
“I-I know you do, Killian,” she said. She held his hand with her bloodied ones. “Let’s leave Ivory City… but after a few days, okay…”
“T-turn yourself in…” he told her.
Her face changed. She pulled back and let go of his hand.
“I don’t want to,” she said, getting up and walking away from him, her eyes devoid of emotion. She stopped beside Butler Rose’s bag and saw a black card peeking out of it. She bent down and took it.
She entered the bathroom, turned on the shower, and stayed under it.
“Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!” A heart-wrenching scream tore from her throat before she returned to normal. She came out naked, moved to the dresser, and wore her clothes.
She took out a scented candle Killian had gotten for her. She walked towards him. He now lay there, blood still seeping out from his head. She lit it just beside his head.
Then she bent down and dropped a soft butterfly kiss on his lips.
“I will miss you so much.” She got up and walked to the kitchen. She used a knife to cut the gas pipe, then walked out of the house. She took the elevator to the ground floor. Just when she stepped out, the building shook. Everyone panicked and began running.
“Fire! Call the fire service!”
“The penthouse is on fire!”
She walked calmly, not turning back to even take a glance.
“Your babies are doing just fine.”
“Babies?” Heaven asked, wide-eyed.
“Yes, ma’am,” the doctor said as she turned the screen. “This is baby one, and this is baby two.” Heaven had already read it before the doctor even explained.
“O.M.G,” Heaven said in surprise.
“Does your family have a twin history?” the doctor asked, smiling.
“I don’t know…” she said.
Heaven came out of the hospital with a picture of her ultrasound. She put it in her purse. She was four months gone, and her bump was visible now, but she hid it behind big clothes and made sure she didn’t let Maverick touch her. That was the hardest part because that man used the slightest opportunity he had to come on to her. What she did was to always stay around her husband, Boyle. But she knew Maverick was a time bomb, and there was a limit to what he could take.
Since she was out, she decided to use the opportunity to go see Fabian. She drove all the way to the Johnsons’ mansion.
“Young miss,” the servants all greeted her with a different kind of respect. She smiled at them and walked straight to Fabian’s room. She knocked once. No response. She knocked a second time, still no response. Then she opened the door and walked in.
The room was dark, and it smelled like depression.
“Fabian, why are you not answering the door?”
She knew he was awake and ignoring her.
Heaven got pissed. Maybe it was her hormones.
She turned on the light and pulled his duvet off.
“Get up, Fabian, now! I’m hungry. Make me something to eat.”
“The servants are downstairs, or order something. My card is in the drawer.”
She brought her phone out and put a call through to the butler. “You and all the servants are fired,” she said before walking towards the drawer. Opening it, she pulled out his card and broke it in half.
Fabian sat up, dumbstruck, looking at her. “What the fuck, Vera?”
“I’m waiting downstairs,” she told him before walking out.
