Chapter 170 Betrayal II

Chapter 170 Betrayal II
Edward walked with Richard to his car. Richard was easily suspicious of things. Luckily he had words ready for him.

“I will come see Eva and Avi soon,” Edward said.

“Okay, they will be doing better by then. I already prepared home doctors for them. We will make sure they recover smoothly.”  Richard spoke.

Edward nodded.

Richard opened his car and was about to enter when he paused.

“I saw fleet of cars on the road on my way to this place. Were they coming from here?” He asked. Those vehicles were highly suspicious since they all had tinted glass. Like it was concealing something.

Edward’s jaw worked once. Before his fave shifted to one of confusion. “Fleet of cars? I have no idea maybe they were coming from somewhere else,” he smiled.

Richard nodded and entered his car. Edward owned the whole estate and the remaining land surrounding it . The street was named after him. There was no other house attached to this street. Where else would they have been coming from?

He started the engine and moved.

The smile vanished from Edwards face as he made his way towards the dungeon.

There were two other guards as bulky as Zoro guarding it. These were his shadow guards; they helped clean any mess and do his dirty job.

“General.” They saluted swiftly. Opening the door to the cramped room that had only one window that was a source of light.

On a metal chair. A lady sat there, her face covered with a black cloth. She wiggled herself known to stop in the chair, her head darted from one side to the other.

“Get it off,” he ordered. The cover was taken off.

“Nice to meet you little one. You asked me to take a guess. It took me a few hours but I did now you are here,” he laughed.

“You both must have been scared seeing how fast you acted to make sure I was caught.” She asked.

Edward's face scrunched up. “Both? It’s just me, Priscilla Vincent.”

Pricilla face shot up. “Are you saying you are the one who set my father up and Richard had nothing to do with it?”

“Bingo,” he snapped his fingers. “You are quick witted.” He smiled and grabbed a seat to sit ten steps away from her. “Richard trusts me a lot. It’s been decades and you are a threat to that trust.”

Her breath shook in anger. “Tell me what happened to my father. There’s no way he had a hand in stolen ammunition. He was all talk and no bite. How did you frame him?”

“Well, you deserve to know the truth before you go meet your old man up there or in hell. I will tell you,” he had a solemn look.

“Your father wasn’t part of the plan, he just happened to be the sacrificial lamb.”

He cleared his throat.

‘You see I have been the one taking the ammunition. Maverick, that stubborn brat.  He wouldn’t let go of the case even when the MCID ruled out sergeant Peter’s case as a suicide he kept chasing. I wanted to send him a warning because if  I did Richard would have to  force his only son off the case.”

He got up and walked around the cramped cell.

“My plan began on the day Maverick married my daughter. I cut off all the cameras in the Richard estate while everyone was away for the wedding. On the day of the hunt my sniper was ready to execute the plan and send the warning. Your father wandered off and stumbled on him. Scared, he missed and gave a risky shot.”

He laughed. “He said your father looked at him and continued to walk past him like he was in a daze. So he knocked him out and fled.”

Prisca's eyes continued to follow him; she didn’t make a sound and just listened.

“At the hospital, your father was the last to arrive. I questioned why he came late. He seemed oblivious about the incident he had witnessed. It was like he didn’t remember. My sniper went back to the crime scene to clear his tracks and then he found your father’s wallet and a container of drugs. I quickly did my research and it turned out he had early dementia.” He turned to her. “And you know he shouldn’t be holding his position if he was sick.”

Her brows furrowed. She didn’t know that her father was sick. “You are a lying bastard old man. Trying to make my father guilty of something,” she hissed at him.

He chuckled. “Why would I lie to someone who is already dead.” He shrugged his shoulders. “That year was my last time stealing the ammunition so I decided why not let someone take the fall and cover the tracks forever. I planted the evidence to turn your father into a suspect in the hunting ground. He already left his wallet there so I just dropped the emblem beside it.”

Tears fell from Priscilla's eyes. “Did my father really commit suicide?” Her voice shook as she asked.

“You already know the answer. But since you want a reply. I will be generous. Well he didn’t, I did. If I left him alive the investigation would still be ongoing and I didn’t want that. So I sent my boys, they drugged him and helped him hang himself. Then planted some evidence. That was it.” I was fully left out of it, never suspected. But you suddenly appeared and created a nuisance.”

He walked towards a table that was covered in the darkness. Then he walked back holding a gun. “This is the gun that shot Maverick. I initially planned to just kill you. Which is what I will still do but you are going to be useful just like your father. Any last words, Kid.”

Priscilla didn’t flinch as the gun pointed at her, she wasn’t scared of death because her revenge would begin after she dies . “Thank you for letting me know. I rather kill myself than die in your hands you beast.”

She rolled her tongue out a red pill laid there. She swallowed it. Within seconds she convulsed on the seat she was tied to until she went limp.

Everything happened so fast Edward stood there shocked. How couldn’t she be scared in the face of death? She wanted revenge so badly why did she decide to end her life herself. He suddenly felt uneasy.

“Search her?” He ordered.

The men loosened her, searched and even stripped her naked they found nothing.

Something was up, it was like he had fallen into her plan instead of the other way round.

“Find out who she interacted with, walked past, greeted. Find out every Goddamn thing!” He roared.
