Chapter 167 Turn a blind eye

Chapter 167 Turn a blind eye

“What?” Killian thought he heard wrong.

“Eva is your sister, Killian,” she whispered, her feet slackened and she dropped to the floor.

“How is that possible? Edward and Kiara birthed Eva. You and father bir—“ his eyes widened. He looked up at Butler Rose.

“It’s Edward.. your father is Edward.. I’m sorry Killian.. I’m so sorry..”

Kilian staggered back.

“When I was still working as a servant for the Edwards. It fell on me to clean up the master bedroom. I was changing the sheets when he came in drunk. I fought real hard but it happened. When I found out I couldn’t tell him. He would have asked me to get rid of you or Kiara would have killed me so I decided to bury it by…” she choked on her words.

“By sleeping with my father and making him believe I was his…” Killian asked as he racked his hand through his hair.

“I’m sorry..”
She apologized again crying. “It’s all my fault..”

“Yes, it’s your fault,” Killian agreed, moving closer to her and crouching down to help her up. “But mother I can forgive you… but there’s something you would do for me,”

Butler Rose stopped crying and looked fully at her son. “You have been keeping it secret before you should continue doing so for me please mother, I can’t leave without ” he held her hand.

She looked at him in disbelief. “Killian I told you. You both share a father. You have to call it off. Whatever that is, you feel, shut it down.”

“Mother, it's not easy. I have loved her all my life. How can I unlearn it now? Where do I even begin from? We have a child together.” Killian said. “If you don’t tell anyone no one will know. Just the two of us, please. This is the one thing I’m asking of you as your son. If you love me you would want my happiness. She’s my joy..” he begged.

Butler Rose’s hand shook. She saw the pain in her son's eyes. “ This is incest,Killian” she whispered “It’s wrong. Besides, she is married—“

“To a man who doesn’t see the worth in her. Mother please,”

“Neither does she see the worth in you Killian. I saw the way she spoke and looked down on you..” she pointed out.

“She is going through a rough part right now..” he defended her. “Just turn a blind eye”

Maverick sped over to the hospital as soon as he heard his daughter was awake.

“Daddy,” Havilah had her hand around his neck. She was the brightest. She had forgotten about tearing up earlier and believed her mother. Her daddy had come for her.

“Yes,” he answered.

“I missed you, Daddy,” she rested her head on his shoulder.

“I missed you more,” he told her. Seeing her almost bleeding to death broke him, and he had decided to love her and be present more. He walked with her back to the hospital room.

Eva trailed behind. Her mind was still locked on her conversation with Killian. He couldn’t ruin things for her. She had to figure out a way to handle him. The more she kept getting rid of them, the more obstacles were coming out from different places.

“Mummy,” she flinched as Avi’s high-pitched voice called her.

“Huh?”

“Daddy asked a question.”

Eva looked to Maverick to see his eyes on her. Not usually cold and distant like before, there was something there.

“How do you feel?” he asked.

She flushed immediately. “I—I am fine.”

The wind blew suddenly, lifting Maverick’s hair from his face and revealing the bandage that was stained with blood.

She closed the distance and lifted her hand to move his hair. “You didn’t have this before.

What happened?”

“It’s nothing. I’m fine,” he dismissed it.

On arrival at the room, General Richard was already there.

“The doctor said we are all free to go home. Havilah will have her injuries cleaned, and Eva just needs to eat more vegetables to replenish her blood,” he announced.

“I will finalize the discharge. You can take them home, Maverick.” His eyes locked on his son before he moved past them out of the door.

Richard was going to have a formal meeting with Maverick on his plans to bring his grandson home. No, Richard could not grow outside, especially not in the house of a criminal who didn’t care about human lives.
It was silent in the car as Maverick pulled out of the hospital’s parking lot.

“You bought a new car?” Eva asked him, noticing the seats still had the nylon. It looked like he had come straight to the hospital after making the purchase.

He hummed.

“Have you eaten?” he asked. Eva couldn’t believe her ears. She was shocked. She had to pinch herself to be sure she wasn’t hallucinating.

“N-no, I haven’t eaten,” she told him.
“Even me, Daddy. I’m famished,” Avi said, smiling.

Maverick drove to a restaurant. Eva ordered Chinese fried rice and grilled chicken. Havilah ordered mac and cheese. Maverick ordered a steak and red wine.

“Does it hurt?” Maverick asked, pointing at her forehead.

She shook her head.

“Daddy, my friend visited today at the hospital,” Avi said happily, her mouth stained with cheese.

Maverick reached out to clean her mouth.
Eva smiled. Who said Maverick didn’t love her? He just didn’t know how to show it.
“She always talks about this friend we have never seen before,” Eva laughed.

“Daddy, you should come see him. He doesn’t have a daddy, and I promised to share mine,” she said.

“Such a sweet little girl,” Eva reached and brushed her daughter’s hair.

“I will take you to visit your friend,” Maverick told his daughter.

“You are the best daddy,” she got up and dropped a kiss on his cheek. Maverick smiled—a rare sight Eva had never seen.

Heaven stood watching them through the transparent glass. Her heart squeezed painfully, her jaw tightened. One happy family.

“Mistake my foot. Damn bloody liar,” she muttered under her breath and turned.

“I don’t like this place,” she met Fabian in the car. “Let’s go somewhere else.”
