Chapter 166 Father, Sister

Chapter 166 Father, Sister

Eva flinched.

She turned around slowly and saw Killian. He was slightly bent, hand pressed to the side of his ribs. The corner of his lip was cut, one eye blackened and swollen.

Killian couldn’t believe his ears. He had spotted them from the room. His mother had told him briefly that Havilah had been in a home accident and Eva had to donate her blood. He had hurried over, ignoring his mother’s protests and the sharp pain in his side.

And he had gotten the shocker of his life.

“K… Killian…” she stammered.

He came over in anger. “Is this what you have turned yourself into? Manipulating and hurting your own child because of your selfish benefit?” he asked her, breathing hard, the rims of his eyes blazing red.

Eva’s countenance changed. She didn’t want to have this conversation, especially not when Havilah could hear everything.

She crouched down. “Avi, can you wait here for mommy? I will just have a quick talk with Uncle Killian and I will be back so we can both wait for daddy together, okay?” Her eyes softened as she spoke to her daughter.

Avi looked up at Killian then back at her mother and nodded. “Okay.”

She stood up, her eyes shooting glaciers as she walked past Killian—an indication of “follow me.”

Eva stopped walking after they reached the back of an abandoned building not far from where Avi waited.

“Killian, did you have to say that in front of her?” she roared at him.

“What do you mean? You hurt your own child because of a man who doesn’t give two fucks about you. How could you, Eva?” His hand clenched into a fist. He regretted indulging her from the beginning. He always knew she was manipulative but had chosen to act dumb. If that was how he could get her attention—but not anymore.

“Shut up, Killian. You know nothing about me and Maverick’s relationship. Don’t fucking cross your line. You know what? Stay the fuck away from me and my child,” she pointed a hand at him.

Hurt flashed in Killian’s eyes. “And if I don’t? You will lie to the whole world that I fucking raped you?” he asked her, tears blurring his vision.

Guilt flashed across her face for a split second. She had lied to protect her image in front of her parents. Seeing he was here meant her father had already taken care of his treatment; there was nothing to be remorseful about.

“Yes, I would, and guess who they will believe? Me! I will crush anyone who stands in the way of me getting him. This time I don’t need your help. I will do it my way. Just fucking disappear,” she told him.

Killian looked at the desperation in her eyes. She was nothing like the sweet girl he once knew. When did she turn sour?

“I will disappear only if you give me my child,” he blurted out.

Eva paused, her heart slamming against her ribcage.

“W-what child?” she stammered.

“Havilah is mine. Don’t fucking deny it because I chose to keep quiet doesn’t make me a fool, Evangel,” he said.

“You must be sick. Avi is mine and Maverick’s. Are you that desperate? You are nothing but a servant, my personal chauffeur, and I regret not drawing that line since the beginning. You wouldn’t be this delusional,” she said.

“Delusional? You are the one being delusional right now trying to force Havilah on Maverick. The day you came crying to me he bought a house for Heaven and you wanted her gone.

Do you remember what happened? In case you forgot, I would refresh your memory. We fucked!”

Eva’s body shook. She swallowed; her hands turned clammy.

“So what? It doesn’t make Havilah yours! Maverick touched me too,” she said, breathing hard.

“Oh really? I guess we will need to perform a DNA test to know that. Thank goodness this is a hospital,” Killian said, walking past her to go to Avi.

“Killian!” She panicked. She moved quickly and hugged him from the back. “I… I’m sorry… for lying to my father… I’m so sorry… I didn’t mean anything I said earlier… I’m just in my feelings. My mind—it’s clouded. Those drugs… I can’t do without them now. Killian, I’m losing my mind.” She began to cry.

He turned slowly toward her. Eva hugged him, not letting go.

“Let’s leave Ivory City. Let’s go somewhere and start afresh. I will make sure you don’t regret it. If it’s about your lifestyle, I have money mapped out once I get it. I will take care of you and Avi.” He said.

Eva pulled away enough to stare into Killian’s eyes wanting to speak.

“Second young master, Little miss.” Butler Rose’s voice was exceptionally loud. Eva’s eyes widened as she pulled away from Killian, wiping her tears quickly.

“Killian, let’s talk about this some other time, okay?” She dropped a kiss over his lips before stepping out to the open to see Maverick holding Avi. She forced a smile.

Butler Rose had followed Killian and had not missed a conversation spoken here today. Her feet struggled to hold her up. Some secrets were never meant to be kept because in the future they will create situations that are forbidden.

After watching them walk away, she went back to her son’s hospital room to see him standing by the window.

“She can’t come with us,” Butler Rose said to Killian. He turned slowly.

“Just because I let you back into my life doesn’t mean you can tell me what to do, Mother. The way you protected Maverick from finding out the truth today—was it still the Edwards that pushed you?” he roared.

Butler Rose’s eyes watered. “Even if he finds out the truth and chooses to divorce her, you both can’t be together. You both were never supposed to have even touched each other,” she told him.

His brows furrowed. “We are adults. Why can’t we? Huh?” He said, picking up the vase by the window and smashing it on the floor.

“Because Eva is your sister!”
