“You can’t marry him. Never!! Let’s go home,”
She stepped away. “What home!?” She asked him.
“The place where I have to stay married to a ghost, bowing a hundred times and lighting candles or the place you got where you destroyed the last pieces of me.”
She took one slow step closer, her eyes locked on his blood-streaked face.
“You think too highly of yourself, Maverick. You feel you can just badge in here and pull me away and I will go with you? I am not that eighteen years old girl anymore. I won't be forced into anything I don’t want to do. I have power and a family. People who would burn the world for me.”
She leaned in, close enough that he could see the tears glittering but refusing to fall.
“I will fight you with the last drop of my blood, if that is what it takes to keep you away from me.”
Her words landed like a blow to him. Blood from Mavericks' head streaked down his face and fell over the concrete. Drip. Drip. Drip like a countdown.
“Things would be different this time.We won’t return to the Richard mansion, I would buy us a house somewhere new.”
Heaven looked at him in disbelief. “And what would be my title? Mistress? Side piece?What about Eva?”
“I don’t give a fuck about her all I want is you.. you know that Heaven…”
“You don’t give a fuck about her” she cut him off “but you had a child with her..seeing she is same age as Liam it happened after I left,” she bit her lips.
“It was a mistake.. I was drunk.. I thought it was you and it happened..”
She was exhausted emotionally and physically.
““That’s the same excuse I could use. I was lonely. You were available. But guess what?I don’t need you anymore.”Return to your family Maverick, we are over.”
She turned to leave then paused.
“Help me pass a message to your wife. Tell her I’m alive and I’m coming for her. A life for a life.”
Mavericks brows creased in confusion. “What..”
Fabian’s patience snapped, his blue eyes swept lazily across Maverick. “She said it’s over.you should leave.”
When Heaven had pulled her hand from his earlier, Fabian had thought of the worst: for her to walk straight into Maverick’s arms. But the reverse was the case and she had chosen him.
Maverick’s gaze never left Heaven’s face. His hands flexed at his sides, knuckles bruised from the crash.
“There’s no ending between us.I will never let you go,Heaven. You are mine. No wedding will take place.” Maverick said.
“I’m not your possession!!!!” She screamed back. “I am getting married and you are not invited.”
Maverick staggered closer, blood slid into his eyes he didn’t blink.
“Deep down you know you belong to and you can’t walk away from me. Liam will never take the last name of another man,” Maverick threatened her with their son.
The mention of their son's name triggered her.
She whirled back.
“Don’t you dare mention my child’s name.” Her voice shook with pure rage.
“I regret letting you even breathe the same air as him. He will never answer the name of the man who denied him either!!”
Mavericks brows creased in confusion. “W-what? I would never deny my son,”
Heaven scoffed. “You did Maverick, it's been seven years. Maybe I need to refresh your memories. Your mother called and you denied it and y’all threw me out in the middle of the night like some piece of trash, no food for days, dehydrated, bowing nonstop till my body couldn’t take it anymore all while pregnant. Listen and listen well. You will have no part in his life. He is my son!,” her fist clenched to the side.
The tears fell from her eyes.
“The last few days I had my memories pretending not to were the worst days of my life, you disgust me.”
Her next words choked her.
“If I get the calculations right I was already pregnant when you abused and raped me.”
The courtyard went deadly still.
“I fucking hate you!”
She turned and walked straight into the house.
Maverick stood frozen. Her words stabbed him over and over and a lone tear fell from his eyes mixing together with the blood. His jaw tightened, his fist clenched so hard it hurt.
The silence stretched.
Samantha didn’t know her eyes were wet as she watched and listened to Heaven's words. She had witnessed a moment and she wished she had pushed to help. Maybe Heaven wouldn’t have experienced most of these things. She turned and went after Heaven.
“I’ll be filing charges for forced entry and destruction of property. If you so much as breathe in her direction again. I will add restraining orders. You are a military personnel and you wouldn’t want to break the rules.”
Fabian said he turned to go inside.
“You wouldn’t need to restrain me, because she will come to me herself,” Maverick said weakly.
Fabian paused.
“That would be if you live past tonight,”
