Chapter 122 That night

Chapter 122 That night
“M-madam,” the butler swallowed her words immediately.Eleanor’s presence shook her to the core. They had sworn never to say anything about that night.

"We have visitors, you should go and welcome them.” Eleanor spoke her eyes a clear warning

Maverick didn’t acknowledge his mother; his eyes were eager and impatient locked on the butler waiting for her reply.

Butler Rose bowed to him quickly and tried to  brush past him to go attend to the guest. Maverick caught her wrist.

“Finish it..”

Eleanor cleared her throat, interrupting the question. She had seen his quick stride through the living room not sparing her a glance.

Whatever he was chasing was important enough for him to step into the main mansion, it was something he rarely did and it unsettled her.

She had heard his last question to the butler and knew what it was about.

Her heart hammered against her ribcage.

Butler Rose seized the opportunity and slipped away.

“Maverick,” she called him, forcing a smile  “you are home? Do you need her to do something for you?”

Maverick turned towards his mother. His teeth grinding hard against his gum.

He needed answers and his mother would be in a position to give him that answer.

“Yes mother,” he said calmly as he casually shoved a hand into his pocket.

“What’s.. that son?” She tried to keep her countenance in check, with the intensity of his gaze.

“I was asking her if my sister in law really left on her own.”

“Y-you mean Heaven?” Eleanor asked the obvious. “Why the sudden question when I  already told you before....”

Maverick didn’t speak for some  minutes.

“You were keen on her mourning Boyle, performing rituals and fasting  so his soul could rest in peace..” the mention of this torture all which he let her go through made his heart squeeze.

“Why did you suddenly pardon her to leave in the middle of the night?”

Eleanor faltered.

She saw the anger and pain twirling in her son's eyes. But whatever she had done, she did for the family and to uphold their long alliance.

Besides, she was nothing but a whore sleeping with different men.

“Maverick she left on her own, I don’t get why you keep causing a ruckus over her.” She folded her hand across her chest.

“Do you think she is your wife just because you filled in for your brother. If you have a lot of free time go pick YOUR WIFE and daughter up from her parents house.” She raised her force to sound harsh.

“Your father is down, you should prepare to take over the major responsibilities of the family. Maverick. Get yourself in the order.”

She turned and walked away.

Mavericks eyes hardened.

“Mother, did you bother checking where she went that night?”

“Killian, I followed him,” Eva sobbed, while explaining what she had seen. “I told him to stay the night. He said  he had something important and it was a gay club….” She hissed. “A fucking gay club.”

Eva's mind has been going haywire since she read the sign on that building Maverick had entered. It read “Men only” she had been in denial he couldn’t be gay right? She waited thinking it might have been a mistake but he never came out. She drove off.

Her mascara streaked down her cheeks as she dragged a trembling hand over her face, disbelief choking her.

She needed where she was comfortable enough to break out of character, not the warm smiling wife she had to put up. She had come back to her parents. Killian was always available when she needed him and right now she did.

“He would rather be with  a man than with me,” she continued. “He hasn’t shared a bed with me since Havilah was conceived…”

Her chest heaved as the words finally landed, each one cutting deeper than the last. She turned hysterical and her eyes glowed with sudden hatred.

“Do I have to wipe away every human from the surface of the earth just like I did with her so he can get to look at me..” she screamed.

Killian held her mouth and  told her through gritted teeth.

“You can’t say that out loud… Eva..”

The walls had ears.He was tired of the fact the only time she came to him was when she was unraveling over her husband or wanted to use him. He hated it.

“I’m sorry I can't help it” she apologized and continued letting out her grievances that she couldn’t tell anyone except him. Her father would opt for a divorce if he was aware and she didn’t want a divorce

“I gave him Havilah to see if through her we could share a bond but..Nothing”

Killian's jaw clenched  hard. He sighed and pulled away from and raked his hand through his raven hair.

“I will get you something to calm your nerves, Young Miss.”

She had come to his private quarters. It wasn’t befitting because she looked painfully out of place. It was just a narrow room, a single bed and a lone chair, a few clothes and his chauffeur uniform.

He wished he could rise enough to take her away from anything that hurt her. He wondered why she held on to something that had no hope but pain.

Maverick.

One thing was certain.

Maverick wasn’t gay. He is  a  full man who could be moved by only one woman.

Heaven, his sister in law, one that her body was buried deep in the ocean somewhere.

He was hiding something and he wished she wouldn’t care.

Eva didn’t want him moving away. She quickly rushed and hugged him from behind, wrapping her arms around his taut chest.

She knew how he felt, anyone with eyes would. And she knew exactly how to use his feelings for her to his advantage.

He turned slowly to face her.

“Killian…” she whispered, pressing her head against him. “Please help me. I’m losing my mind.”

“Eva you can’t...”

She rose onto her toes and pressed a kiss to his lips, shattering the little resistance he had left.

Killian leaned into it, his hand lifted  to tilt her neck, deepening the kiss.

Her fingers fumbled with his belt, impatiently, until it loosened. She slipped her hand inside, stroking him firmly.

Killian groaned into her mouth.

His hands found her breasts, rubbing it through the thin fabric of her gown.

She moaned.

She needed to feel like a woman again.

“Fuck me,” she breathed.

He spun her, bent her over the small table. He shoved her gown up, dragged her panties aside, and drove into her in one hard thrust.

“Ma…verick…” she moaned.

The name stabbed through him, but Killian shut it out. He focused on the heat of her, the way she clenched around him, the sounds she made. He moved harder, faster, chasing the illusion that she was his.

The door swung open.
