CHAPTER 138
CHAPTER 138
POV: ELIZABETH
Matthew pulled me closer and took me with a force that made my entire body react.
“Oh…” I gasped, digging my nails into his back as he moved with deep intensity. His hot kisses on my neck, his fingers tangled in my hair… everything made me lose control. My body trembled with pleasure, completely surrendered to the rush building inside me.
Without pause, he turned me around on the table, gave me a firm slap, and kept going — deeper, more intense. His rhythm, the way he touched me, it made the world outside disappear. I couldn’t hold back the moans. Each movement sent shivers through me until we reached the peak together. When I felt his warmth inside me, I knew… this was only the beginning of what we’d experience working so closely together.
I turned to look at him. He was sweaty, breathless… and honestly, after what we’d just done, who wouldn’t be? I climbed off the table, kissed his lips softly, and went to the bathroom. I grabbed some paper towels and the liquid soap.
I cleaned up as quickly as I could and picked up my underwear from the floor. Matthew followed me there — we couldn’t risk anyone knocking and catching me in that state: skirt bunched around my waist, top barely holding everything in place, and my legs still warm.
“There’s no towel here?” I asked, seeing the empty rack.
“No, babe. I don’t usually shower here,” he replied.
I sighed and looked at the panties in my hand — ruined, soaked. No way I could wear them again. I tossed them straight into the trash.
“You’re not going to wear anything?” he asked, looking serious.
“Of course not, babe. I can’t put that back on.”
He ran a hand over his head, clearly frustrated. I took the chance to tease him with a grin, “That’s what you get for being rough when taking them off.”
He laughed and started cleaning himself at the sink.
“Next time, bring a spare pair in your bag… you know I won’t be able to resist,” he said playfully.
“I’ll remember that tomorrow,” I replied, wiping my legs with paper towels. He glanced over at me quickly.
“Aren’t you going to shower?”
“No towel. But I’ve got wipes in my purse. That’ll do until I get home,” I said, tying my hair back. I gave him one more kiss and left the bathroom.
Back at my desk, I grabbed my purse and started searching through the chaos inside it. Then I found a box of tampons.
My heart nearly stopped.
My period.
It hadn’t come yet.
I froze.
How late was it? I had no idea. Couldn’t even remember the last time I marked the date. I started calculating in my head, but my thoughts were all jumbled. Panic crept in.
“Oh God…” I placed my head in my hands. “Late period… nausea… dizziness… No, this can’t be happening. You’re not pregnant, Elizabeth. You can’t be. Matthew had a vasectomy… unless…” I couldn’t finish the thought. “No. It’s not possible,” I whispered, panicking.
I finally found the wipes, rushed to the bathroom, cleaned myself more carefully, and returned to my desk — still in shock.
Matthew walked in.
“Babe, are you okay? You look pale,” he asked, his eyes full of concern.
“I’m fine, love. I just got a little startled in the bathroom,” I lied, trying to smile. He gave me a few more instructions and went back to his office.
(…)
Thankfully, the rest of the day went by quietly. Nothing like the hectic pace back at the clinic. I finished organizing Matthew’s schedule for the next day and adjusted a few final details.
His office door opened, and he walked out with his phone and car keys in hand.
“Ready to go, love?” he asked with a sweet smile.
“Yes,” I said, finishing up. “Let’s go.”
He held my hand, and we walked to the elevator together. We chatted casually — everything felt easy, natural… until we reached the parking lot.
“Wanna ride with me, babe?” he asked, hopeful.
“Um… I think I’ll take my car today. But I’ll come with you tomorrow.”
I kissed him quickly and almost ran to my car, parked a bit farther away. I needed to get out of there before he noticed anything was off.
(…)
Traffic was insane, as usual. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw Matthew’s car right behind mine. As soon as I had the chance, I changed my route, took a side street, and managed to lose him.
The first pharmacy I saw, I pulled into the parking lot and got out quickly.
“Good evening, can I help you?” the clerk asked with a friendly smile.
“Yes… I need a pregnancy test,” I said, barely able to speak. She gave a small smile and turned to get one.
“Actually… bring me three, please,” I added anxiously.
She raised an eyebrow and walked off. I tapped my nails nervously on the counter while I waited.
“Any preferred brand?” she asked, glancing at me.
“One of each, please.”
I didn’t hide my urgency.
She went to get them, and I moved to the register. I grabbed some painkillers too — just in case I needed an excuse if Matthew saw the bag.
Back in the car, I drove home with my heart racing, silently praying it was just a random delay. Maybe from the stress, the bad eating, the crazy routine… anything but what my body was slowly, quietly hinting at.
As soon as I got home, I parked the car and took a deep breath before getting out. I put the pregnancy tests inside my purse, leaving only the painkillers in the pharmacy bag where they’d be visible. I needed to look as natural as possible.
“Where did you go, babe?” Matthew asked as soon as I walked in, eyeing me curiously while rocking Elena in his arms.
“I just stopped by the pharmacy,” I said, holding up the bag with the medicine. “Picked up something for a headache… and some vitamins.”
I kept my voice steady and serious, trying not to let anything slip. I leaned in to kiss Elena, who greeted me with that smile that could melt anyone’s heart. We spent a few minutes playing with her.
When Matthew got distracted for a moment, I took the chance and rushed upstairs to our bedroom. I dropped my purse on the bed, kicked off my heels, and headed straight to the bathroom with the pregnancy tests hidden in my hands. I locked the door behind me, and my heart was pounding so loud it felt like it echoed in the tiny space.
With a single urine sample, I took all three tests at once.
I didn’t know if that was the right thing to do, but at that moment, doing the right thing didn’t matter anymore.
