Chapter 53 Stealing Information

Chapter 53 Stealing Information
The mansion had finally gone silent.

Past midnight, the hallways were nothing but dim corridors of silence. The servants long retired.

Victor had long retired to his room for rest.

Mr. Volkov and his wife were also locked inside their respective rooms.

Caspian was also nowhere to be seen.

And... Elena... she had safely fallen asleep behind her guarded door.

Everyone was asleep. Everyone... except Damien.

It was the perfect time for a ghost to move.

Damien left his room quietly, like the ghost he is.

Tonight wasn't about Elena and what he's feeling for her. Tonight was about the plan... The revenge he never forgot.

The debt he promised himself he would settle. Because of his feelings for Elena, things are taking too slow for his revenge. But that doesn't mean he ever forgot. It's just impossible!

He stopped in front of Victor's study.

The door was locked, but the locks meant nothing to the Ghost.

Victor's study was protected with two security cameras, but Damien had already looped them earlier during dinner, timing the glitch to begin minutes after midnight.

The guards wouldn't notice. It looked like nothing but a harmless blink on their screens.

The study door was electronically locked, but Damien had watched Victor enough to know the code.

3-7-2-9

Victor always tapped the buttons in a specific rhythm, and Damien, quiet, observant, deceptively gentle, missed absolutely nothing.

The lock clicked after he put in the codes, and the door opened soundlessly.

He slipped inside without a noise

Victor's study smelled like whiskey, old wood, and arrogance. Bookshelves lined the walls. Files neatly stacked. The desk lamp was still faintly warm - Victor had only left an hour ago.

Damien went straight to the computer. He sat in the leather chair and on it.

PASSWORD REQUIRED.

He smirked, plugged in a small encrypted drive, and entered the password he had memorized weeks ago.

Victor had no idea how predictable he was. He really thought he was untouchable.

Damien's fingers moved swiftly across the keyboard as he typed in the password...

V_Lancaster1999.

Access was granted, and the system opened without resistance.

Such an easy password for a man like Victor.

Folder after folder opened on the screen.

Financial reports. Illegal transactions. Offshore accounts.

Names of politicians. Bribe lists.
Private recordings. Blackmail files.
Contracts marked with blood-red encryption. Extortion emails... Name it, and you can find them.

Damien downloaded everything to a hidden drive he brought with him.

His eyes brushed through everything, and then something else caught his attention.

A name... ELENA!

Something cold and murderous flickered in Damien's chest.

He leaned in, his brows narrowing as he read the document.

Victor had been arranging Elena's engagement long before she even knew of it.

And not just to any man-to Caspian's family. In exchange for land, money, and political protection.

Elena's happiness had never mattered. She was a pawn in Victor's climb to power.

Damien's jaw clenched.

He downloaded everything. Every file. Every transaction. Every piece of leverage Victor believed was hidden.

This was enough to crush Victor Lancaster's empire, though not entirely.

Damien knew Victor had more secrets hidden somewhere else than these.

But it was enough to bring another wave of fear to that monster.

Damien leaned back as the final files were copied.

Elena...
Her father was planning to destroy her life for a business deal.
He wasn't going to let that happen.

But he needed every weapon. Every document. Every secret.

And now... he had some of them.

The moment the progress bar hit 100%, Damien unplugged the drive, shut down the system, and wiped any trace of his presence.

He slipped out of the study and closed the door quietly behind him.

His footsteps were silent as he headed toward the guest wing... Toward his room.

But fate had other ideas because someone else was awake.
