Chapter 170 Wilma Kidnapped Me

Chapter 170 Wilma Kidnapped Me
Fortunately, the next day, Jade woke up.

After the doctor examined her, he informed Skylar that Jade was basically out of danger.

However, she'd still need to rest and recover for some time.

Skylar breathed a sigh of relief.

She walked to the bedside, looking at Jade's pale face, her heart aching.

This poor girl had suffered so much.

Jade opened her eyes and saw Skylar. Her lips moved.

"Skylar..."

Her voice was barely a whisper.

"I'm here." Skylar took her hand. "How do you feel? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"

Jade shook her head, then nodded.

"I... I want to report this to the police."

Skylar paused.

"The police?"

"Yes! I need to tell them!"

"I need to make that woman Wilma pay!"

Skylar frowned.

"You're still very weak. There's no rush to call the police."

"Wait until you've recovered."

"No." Jade's tone was resolute. "I need to report it now."

"I can't wait anymore."

"Every day I wait is another day Wilma goes free."

"My dad can't have died for nothing."

As she spoke, tears streamed down her face.

Skylar looked at her, her heart softening.

"Don't get worked up." Skylar wiped her tears. "Your body really can't handle it."

"The police will ask a lot of questions. In your current state, how will you hold up?"

"I can handle it." Jade bit her lip. "I'm fine, Skylar. Please, just let me call the police."

"Please."

Just then, the doctor walked in.

Hearing their conversation, he frowned.

"No." The doctor refused outright. "The patient is extremely weak right now. She needs absolute rest."

"Police questioning will agitate her."

"I don't approve."

Jade panicked.

"Doctor, I'm really okay."

"Let the police come. I'll be quick."

"No." The doctor was firm. "When I say no, I mean no."

"Do you not understand your own condition?"

"You lost so much blood. The fact that you woke up at all is a miracle."

"If you don't rest properly now and something goes wrong, who's responsible?"

Jade's tears fell harder.

"But... but I don't want to wait..."

"My dad died so horribly. I can't let the killer walk free..."

She trembled as she sobbed.

Skylar's heart broke watching her.

"Doctor, what if..."

The doctor still shook his head. "Ms. Sterling, this is for her own good."

"Her condition right now—she really can't handle any stress."

Jade cried even harder.

"I have to call the police! I have to!"

She cried and coughed at the same time.

"Jade! Don't get upset!"

Skylar quickly helped Jade catch her breath.

The doctor rushed forward as well.

After a while, Jade finally calmed down.

She looked at the doctor, her eyes full of stubbornness.

"Doctor, I'm begging you!"

"I promise I'll cooperate. I won't get upset..."

The doctor looked at her, somewhat helpless.

"Fine, but I have conditions."

Jade's eyes lit up.

"What conditions? I'll agree to anything!"

"The questioning can't be too long—half an hour at most. During the questioning, they need to be careful about how they ask. They can't agitate you."

"If your body shows any signs of distress, they stop immediately."

Jade nodded eagerly.

"Okay! I agree!"

The doctor sighed and looked at Skylar.

"Ms. Sterling, please call the police."

Skylar nodded.

"Alright."

Before long, the police arrived.

The doctor spoke with them briefly first.

The male officer nodded.

"Understood. We'll be careful."

Only then did the doctor let them in.

Two officers entered the hospital room. Seeing Jade's condition, they both paused.

This woman's face was as white as paper.

"Hello," the male officer began, his tone gentle. "We received a report that you were kidnapped?"

Jade nodded.

"Yes."

"Don't be nervous. Take your time." The female officer also spoke. "What's your name? How old are you?"

"My name is Jade Marie. I'm eighteen."

"Okay, Jade. Can you tell us how you were kidnapped?"

Jade took a deep breath and was about to speak when she suddenly looked at Skylar.

"Skylar, could... could you stay?"

Skylar blinked.

"Me?"

"Yes." Jade nodded, gripping her hand tightly. "I want you with me."

"I can only talk if you're here."

Skylar looked at her frightened expression, her heart softening.

She turned to the two officers.

"Officers, is that okay?"

The male officer thought for a moment and nodded.

"That's fine."

Having someone there might help keep her calm.

"Thank you." Skylar smiled and sat down beside the bed.

Jade clutched her hand tightly and took a deep breath.

"About a week ago, someone sent a letter to my house."

"The letter said they had my father's belongings."

"At first, I didn't believe it."

"My dad's been gone for so long. Why would his belongings suddenly show up?"

"But... but they described the items."

"They were very specific. They even knew about the scratch on my dad's old pocket watch."

"So I... I believed them."

Her voice grew quieter, tinged with guilt.

Skylar felt a headache coming on.

This girl was so naive.

How could she believe something like that?

"What did they ask you to do?" the male officer continued.

"They told me not to call the police or tell anyone."

"They said I should go alone to the place they specified."

"They said if I went, they'd give me back the belongings."

Tears fell from Jade's eyes.

"I knew it wasn't right, but those were my dad's things!"

"My mom died early. My dad raised me all by himself."

"After he died, I had nothing left..."

She trembled as she cried.

The two officers exchanged glances, both looking somewhat helpless.

Such a crude scam would only work on someone like this.

"So you went alone?" the female officer asked.

Jade nodded.

"Yes."

"I followed their directions to that warehouse."

"The moment I walked in, someone knocked me out."

"When I woke up, I was hanging from the rafters."

As she spoke, her body began to shake.

Clearly, the memory was traumatic.

Skylar quickly squeezed her hand.

"Don't be afraid. It's over now."

Jade leaned against her and cried for a while before calming down.

"Alright, we won't talk about that anymore." The male officer softened his tone. "You focus on recovering. We'll find those people as soon as we can."

Jade shook her head.

"I know who did it."

Both officers paused.

"You know?"

"Yes." Jade nodded, her eyes full of hatred. "It was Wilma Crowder."

"She's the one who kidnapped me."
